I visit Port Townsend frequently, and there is just something about the seaside Victorian arts community that makes me think: "This car needs an oil change." Maybe it's the convenient location on the way in to town but, for whatever reason, this is where I've been taking my car for oil changes, despite living in Seattle. I am pleased to say the PT Jiffy Lube does a great job. They are efficient, courteous and delivered exactly what I asked for without the desperate up-sell you would expect from Jiffy Lube. I took my husband's car in for an oil change today. Although I am a very proficient driver on the road, with all the modern tech in car settings, I have absolutely no idea how to access simple things like the odometer on the car settings. The technician named Russ was so patient and kind with me, offering to get into the drivers seat to help figure it out. He was not impatient and didn't make me feel stupid or incompetent. I have taken my in-laws' car to Jiffy Lube in Port Townsend three times. I have never been disappointed. Yesterday, Russ went far and beyond a normal oil and filter change. It turns out my in-laws car had a rat or squirrel nest in the engine. It took quite a while to get enough out so that Russ could pull the filter. He then decided that since the engine area was so bad, he wanted to look at the cabin air filter. This turned out to be the worst he has ever seen. I am not sure what nested in their car, but it sure left A LOT of nesting material. Russ was amazing in all he did to get the material out. I then found out they do other fluid work on cars, so I had them take care of that and the carbon build up too. In the end, the car ran much better and I am sure (due to all of the material Russ pulled out) the fan worked much better also. I want to thank Russ and Mathew for the great service on 4/16/2025. I like going here as there is no up sale pressure. That is one big reason I will keep coming back. I got there about 20 minutes after they opened and a car was already getting the oil changed. They came out to me to say the mornings have less people and it would be about 20 minutes. It was probably less than that. When it was my turn they guys worked well together to get the job done. Well, well. what a surprise...another Jiffy Lube that overtorqued an oil drain plug. I went to do an oil change on my girlfriend's car and the plug wouldn't budge. I looked to see who did the last service, and it was this station. Unfortunately I could only get the car on jackstands because I don't have a full car lift. I'll now need to rent a space at a garage with a full lift. I even tried an impact gun on the lowest setting to get it off and no dice. I didn't want to damage anything further so I will wait until I can get better access to tap the plug and remove it with full leverage. I will place a $100 bet that Jiffy Lube didn't use a crush washer on the plug either. I've been working on cars and motorcycles for over 20 years and always look up the factory torque settings for every single bolt I remove and replace. Jiffy Lube definitely does not do this. They also overfilled the reservoir and oil has been leaking out. All the tamper paint fell off trying to get this thing loose so I already know Jiffy Lube will absolutely deny any responsibility or attempt to remedy this. The New American way I wish I knew she was getting an oil change done at JL so I could have steered her clear of this joke of a chain business. Always using low tier oil, filters etc. and not doing the work properly. Don't waste your money trying to simply save a little time. Get the job done right at a licensed independent mechanic or do it yourself. Im not the only one on a soapbox; look online and you will find thousands of results of other people experiencing this same issue. read more

Beware of Port Townsend Jiffy Lube! On December 31, 2023, I was driving my Prius from Port Townsend to Mt. Vernon. Two days earlier I had an oil change done at Jiffy Lube in Port Townsend. Suddenly, on Whitby Island, the warning lights went off and within a minute, the engine stopped and wouldn't restart. I called AAA and they towed me to Burlington, where the nearest Toyota dealer was located. I had to leave the car there because they were closed for the holiday. When they reopened, they told me that the oil had been overfilled which led to oil getting into the intake manifold, shutting down the engine. They also told me that the engine air filter had been installed upside down so the dirt in the filter was being pushed into the engine. You know how the folks at Jiffy Lube wave your car's air filter at you and say that for only $30, they could put a new filter in? You might want to watch them put it back in. Two major error by an incompetent team member! The bill from the Toyota dealer was $200 and I asked Jiffy Lube to pay it. They refused. So they not only did incompetent work, but refused to take responsibility for their actions. Needless to say, I'll have future oil changes done elsewhere. Jiffy Lube - Oil Change Stations Near Me - Pt Townsend, Washington

The other evening, I stopped at Port Townsend's Jiffy Lube and asked for a price and availability for an oil and filter change on my MB motorhome. I was told the price and that the synthetic oil and the filter are always in stock. Two days later I came in with the motorhome and after checking the details of my vehicle I was asked "what oil do you want" and I responded "that I needed synthetic oil". I was told "we don't have any synthetic oil" and he just walked away. I called after him and asked "when will you have it in" and the response was "I have no idea" and he continued to walk away but he did turn and say "you can bring your own oil" Off I went to purchase 3 five-quart containers of the proper synthetic oil for my motorhome and headed back to get it changed. My engine take 13.2 quarts and I brought in 15 quarts. I explained that the engine would not take all but 1.8 of the quarts. I asked that they not over fill the unit. After the oil change, I still had one of the containers with about 2 1/2 to 3 quarts in it. When the oil was changed, they checked with the dipstick and determined that it was overfilled and sucked out about a quart or so I was told. The job was finished and off I went a happy customer. Later that day I checked the oil and found it was way over full. I also had the computer check for the engine oil capacity and it registered over full. I returned and the staff pulled over a gallon of oil out of my engine. I complained that the only way this could have happened was that the engine was not fully drained to start with. Suddenly no one would talk to me. They all walked away. I spoke to the person that did the service, mentioning that I only got a half an oil change as the engine was not fully drained. I was told "well sometime that happens" and he went back to work. The only thing I can do is have another oil change to get rid of the mix of old and new oil so I can maintain the engine warranty. Fool me once......Moved and needed my oil changed and tires rotated, called Jiffy lube and told Matthew that I'd had a bad Jiffy Lube experience in Oregon and just wanted my oil changed and tires rotated. He asked what kind of car and offered me a 'new customer' discount. More like a new sucker discount. Took the car in and they changed the oil but said they couldn't rotate the tires because the lift wouldn't work on my Toyota Sienna. So I blew an hour, didn't get the tires rotated and they made a little extra on time. Really? The lift won't pick up a minivan? Les Schwab does tire rotation. read more

This was my second time using this business for an oil change. The first time I told the agent that I wanted what was recommended for my car. When I got my invoice I was shocked to hear that it was over $100 which I never ever paid for an oil change. When I return this time I told the agent that I was shocked at the high cost and that I had asked for what was appropriate for my car. He came back and told me I had an acceptable option which was considerably less expensive. His name is Russell and I so appreciate the fact that he didn't try to gouge me like the previous one did and gave me a discount on top of it. The other night I was driving home & both headlights went out at the exact same time. Being that is rare to happen -(unless there's a fuse or relay issue)? O'Reillly's sold me a relay & suggested I take it to JL as they did not have a relay diagram for the make/model/year of my vehicle handy, so didn't feel comfortable replacing it. Ergo, after OR's checked all of the fuses in the fuse panel, (but not the lightbulbs themselves, so didn't realize it was just 2 burnt out bulbs on either side, & they simply needed replacing)? Sent me to JL to have the relay installed-(as they did not have the diagram, but for what it's worth also had great customer service). I came by, Russell took a look, & w/ in 15 mins I was good to go! Jiffy Lube P.T. has some of the most genuine employees, who truly want to help in whatever ways they can- despite the fact it often exceeds what their typically & technically paid to do, for services they don't advertise but are willing to do to help someone in a crisis... which is part of makes them such incredible employees; they consistnetly exceed my expectations as far as customer service is concerned. They always do whatever they can to help, whether they are paid to do it or not. They are honestly just really good people. I'd like to highlight the following gentleman at Jiffy Lube (P.T.): Russel Matt & Cody~ thank you all so much for being such polite, professional, helpful, and kind individuals. I hadn't been to a Jiffy Lube in a long, long time but I am glad I went to the Port Townsend location. I didn't have to wait long and the price was reasonable with my coupon. The best thing was meeting Russ Myers and having him take care of my car. He was very nice and really professional. Dropped by the PT Jiffy Lube yesterday to get an oil change. Our truck takes 12 quarts of full synthetic oil, which I can get usually for around $80 (retail). Also needs a oil filter (The EXPENSIVE ones are around $17 (retail), and a water separator element (about &10 (retail). It takes ten minutes to change the water separator element (done it myself many times) So, we have about $110 parts RETAIL (which means there ALREADY made a profit on them). So, that should be about $175-200 parts and labor, right??? The guy quotes me OVER $350!!!! So OVER $250 for labor (for 30 minutes of $12 an hour labor???? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!! I would have paid $200, even though I can do it myself for $110, but T^HREE HUNDRED FIFTY?????? NO WAY!!!!!! Too bad many folks don't have a clue that they're being taken to the cleaners!! This used to be our go to place for oil changes. Not anymore. We've tried three times in the last month to get an oil change. First time one car being worked on, one waiting. Attendant said it would be at least an hour and a half and was very discouraging. Second time same kinda thing, ridiculous wait. Today, Sunday, left home early to be there by open time (8:00 am)! Front desk took all my information and gave a reasonable estimate on wait time. Came back a few minutes earlier than his estimate and everything was done and Jeep was waiting.
