I finally went in under the guise of getting all this help, new programs to help me get into a better payment, etc. I hate having my time wasted and wasting other people's time. I told them from the start there was no point in coming in but they push and push and push and promise that they have all these incentives one could qualify for in order to get top dollar for my trade (on top of being a GM Legacy potential deal as my dad worked for GM). I bought this car through a customer service repair associate (after a previous terrible experience). Previously, I was able to use my warranties as down payments. Now, Stoops has a new owner and because it isn't the "old Stoops" I could only get cash back after my trade in. I couldn't use that same cash back toward a down payment meaning my payment would still be sky high. This is ridiculous and I am highly upset. I was told my credit was fine and I could be approved but there was nothing they could do about keeping me at a better (or even the same) payment. I also had an email about $7/down. Also false advertising that they like to hit you with in order to get you inside and waste your time.

Unfortunately, my sensors showed low PSI in both of my new tires. The staff got my straight back in, found a corroded sensor. They replaced it quickly and free of charge. So yes, a little oppsy on missing the sensor issue but it was taken care of immediately. I watched senior staff educate the newer team members on how to avoid this in the future and went over company policy. I was highly impressed with everyone involved, even if it wasn't the smooth transaction I was hoping for. I would much rather to continue to do business with a company that stands behind their work and trains their employees appropriately.

The guy next me told me that he had an appointment for 1:00 PM and they didn't even look at his car until 3:30 PM. It got to the point where I started calling around at other places to see who could take me. THANK GOD the Kia dealership of Muncie was able to get me right away. In and out in 20 minutes. Easy. Not to mention, their technicians were supposed to leave at 5:00 PM but stayed over and helped me out. When I asked the worker at Discount Tire for my keys back so I could leave, he said "I don't blame you, there's still 5 cars ahead of you". A fact that would have been nice to know HOURS EARLIER. I wouldn't have been nearly as upset if he had simply been honest with me and then provided some alternative places that could complete the service. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. I brought my vehicle to Tire Barn after it broke down on I-69 because the location was listed as a…read morefull-service repair shop. I had the vehicle towed there expecting them to diagnose the problem and make the necessary repairs. I was initially told that the water pump had failed, and I authorized them to replace it. The price they quoted was already toward the high end of the typical range for that repair, but because my vehicle was already there and towing it to a shop closer to home would have been expensive, I decided to proceed. After the water pump was replaced, I was told that the vehicle also had a blown head gasket. This is where my concerns with the service became much more serious. I learned that no diagnostic testing had been performed before the water pump was replaced, not even a block test, which can help identify combustion gases in the cooling system and indicate a potential head-gasket problem. When I questioned why this had not been checked before beginning the repair, I was told that I had not specifically requested diagnostics. I brought the vehicle to a repair shop because it had broken down and I needed the problem diagnosed. I should not have to specifically request diagnostic testing when the purpose of bringing a non-functioning vehicle to a full-service repair shop is to determine what is wrong with it. If additional diagnostic testing would have involved an additional charge, I would have expected the shop to explain the options and costs to me before proceeding with a repair that ultimately did not address the full problem. I was then quoted approximately $10,000 to replace the head gasket, which was dramatically higher than the typical cost range I found for this repair. When I questioned whether the head-gasket issue could have been identified earlier, I was told there was no way they could have known until they got the vehicle running. However, there are diagnostic tests that can provide evidence of a head-gasket failure without simply proceeding with repairs and hoping the problem resolves. I was also told that I could drive the vehicle and was referred to the repair shop next door. I found this particularly concerning. Driving a vehicle with a blown head gasket can cause serious additional engine damage, particularly if the engine is overheating or losing coolant. Later, Tire Barn told me they could not get the vehicle to stop smoking, which made the earlier recommendation to drive it even more concerning. At that point, I had the vehicle towed to another repair shop. The second shop was able to properly evaluate the vehicle and provided a much more reasonable repair estimate. There were also some frustrating logistical issues. I had to repeatedly explain that I needed to pay for the work remotely so that a tow truck could pick up my vehicle. Tire Barn initially would not take a credit card payment over the phone or provide an online payment option, which made an already stressful situation more difficult. Thankfully, they ultimately agreed to take the payment over the phone so the vehicle could be released to the tow company. To add to the experience, after everything was finally arranged, Tire Barn called to tell me that one of their mechanics had accidentally left his cell phone inside my vehicle. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and expensive experience. My biggest concerns are the lack of diagnostic testing before performing a significant repair, the communication surrounding what could and could not be determined about the vehicle, the extremely high estimate for the head-gasket repair, and the recommendation that I drive a vehicle they had identified as having a blown head gasket. I ultimately took the vehicle elsewhere and had a much better experience with a shop that properly evaluated the problem and provided a more reasonable estimate. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Tire Barn for major mechanical repairs. Perhaps my experience would have been different if I had simply gone there for tires, but I would not trust this location with a significant engine repair based on what happened with my vehicle.

When I asked why that didn't align, I mentioned that I didn't have enough money to cover the $101, but I assured them that I would definitely get the work done when I get paid on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025. The representative wasn't too pleased and suggested I look elsewhere. Even though he didn't want me to return, I told him I wouldn't be. As I left, I noticed the employees were laughing. I'm definitely not going back to that place. This was my first time at the Muncie location. My friends always go to a different place whenever they need their car serviced, and they've always been happy with the service they receive. I should have stuck with the original recommendation, which was Gaddis. I might pay a bit more, but at least I know I'll be well taken care of.

Went on 2 test drives with the "mechanic" and both time asked if they would check connections from distributor to spark plugs and they said they did. I called it quits after being there for hours. The main technician was Brian, he was able to diagnose what my vehicle needed and followed through until it was completed correctly. Brian's expertise caught a subtle mistake on the test drive so they were able to bring the car back in and get it right before releasing it back to me. I was very impressed with my visit to this Quick Lane next to Hubler Ford.
