Oil was dripping onto the pavement like a leaky faucet. We called Take 5 and limped our vehicle back to the shop. The service manager, Lucas, inspected the vehicle and said he had never seen a leak this severe where oil covered so much of the undercarriage. While Lucas, Austin and another service tech went to work identifying the issue, they spoke loudly seemingly intending for us to hear, saying Keely failed to put the gasket on when she installed the new oil filter...this is something I'd expect from my 16-year-old trying his oil change. Cool guys, blame the girl, way to take ownership. They also discussed another employee and how incompetent he is, stating he can't even perform post-service safety checks by himself, much less perform any services. Very unprofessional to badmouth coworkers in front of customers especially when you're admitting you employ techs who are so woefully inept they can't perform their job duties. After taking about an extra hour from our day to recognize the issue, return to the shop, and get it corrected, we were given a whopping 25% off coupon to compensate us for the inconvenience. When we got home, I noticed the fresh oil stain in my otherwise pristine driveway from the leaking oil when my girlfriend previously parked. I scrubbed it on my hands & knees with solvent but it didn't come out, so now I have a permanent reminder of how terrible Take 5 is. The next morning while we were on our out of town trip leaving the Austin area on an 80 mph toll road, the skid plate flew off, bouncing around under our car before becoming an irretrievable piece of road debris. Keely had nothing to do with the skid plate, so who are you going to blame now, fellas? The manager admitted to pushing on the hood but gave me a claims number while stating he would deny everything when I called. True to his word, he denied the claim. The corporate claims process was a useless loop of being told to call the same manager. They referenced a security video that supposedly clears them (but won't let me see it), focusing on the latch mechanism to distract from the dent they caused. This is a dishonest business practice. I stopped in at Christian Brothers in Leander on Sonny Drive and spoke to Brandon. He text me a written quote, which came out about half of what the other shops were asking. They also give a "Veterans/First responders" discount. Their work was professional, and they communicated with me all the time. They sent a video of a free service inspection of my truck, pointing out any areas of concern. I think I've found my back up mechanic for anything I can't do or just don't want to.
