Prices ring up wrong every single time. I have learned to always check the receipt before leaving the store so that customer service can correct and refund the difference to my credit card. Today, I had waited in line for more than 10 minutes before reaching the counter. Unfortunately, at the same time a delivery person walked up, and the Jewel staff member turned to him and started receiving boxes and signing receipts for him. She told me, "Just a second," but it took 6 more minutes before she turned back to fix the error on my purchase while ice cream--buy 1 get 1 free--melted in my cart. Jewel has recently promoted $1 JoJo Deals in their Deli. Almost every time I go to the store, the Hot Dogs are not stocked. I can understand high demand for shortages, however, I feel this has a more disturbing tactic to get people into the store to buy other items. On Thursday, July 31, I went to this Jewel at Noon, 3pm, and 5pm to buy a Nathan's Hot Dog. At each time, there were no hot dogs available. At 3pm and 5pm, I asked if there were any hot dogs. Both times it was a simple "No". Really? Did you run out of the hot dogs and/or buns? Plenty of packaged dogs and buns elsewhere in the store! I've been going to this Jewel for almost 25 years and always had pleasant experiences. However, if you are going to have these types of promotions, you need to be prepared for high demand, etc. I would hate to think that this Jewel (or any other Jewel) is luring people into the store for any other reason, just to get them in the store to purchase other items. read more

My dad went to the floral dept today to buy white roses for my daughter. An older woman working there told him he couldn't buy any because she was saving them for prom orders. And she was very nasty about it. What the heck? She finally let him buy one white rose. One! This is unacceptable behavior for anyone let alone an employee. Friend had a major surgery one their spine replacing two disc, ankle, knee, and shoulder injuries and asked for assistance pushing a shopping cart because of Doctors restriction can't push or pick up more than seven pound. The lady customer service representative didn't seem to understand the inconvenience after the third time asking for assistance with groceries the manager Prreritt or was going to call the police on him for asking for assistance with shopping what lack of customer service. Luckily a nice gentleman named Chris came and helped completely compassionate, respectful and understanding of the issue. read more

Overall most employees are really helpful and nice. But seems like every-time i head to self check out the person in charge wether it be the female or a male. Always has problems taking my Mexico ID and TVDL as proof of 21+ now they say company policy but i asked where does it say that or asked to speak with the manager and they always refuse and say i just cant purchase the items. Today was the 4th time happening. I've about had it with that store. I usually buy my groceries and the times i want to purchase a drink after work along with getting groceries without going to another store i always have a problem with the cashiers. This store has improved briefly when Julio was acting manager. Scott was also a good manager. The two of them must be gone now. The produce has definitely suffered. I bought some tomatoes there and within 5 days they were covered in green mold spots and were shriveled. Same problem with the peppers. I also bought some Philadelphia Cream and though it said sell by April 26, it got moldy within a week. The store director Allen Anderson was reluctant to give me replacements. Find another store is your best bet. read more

I went to the Osco "pick up" window and this guy did not find my prescription or me in the system, he seemed very stressed and hurried. So then I went to another person by drop off and she found me in the system, but had the same rushed attitude. She said the prescription was called in but still not yet ready. They tell me it will be an hour to fill an antibiotic and they can not page me in the store. So I am now forced to sit here and wait an hour. I am sick and want to rest at home. What ever happend to a smile or customer service. I am defiantly going back to Walgreens. Now I hear them complaining from behind the counter, saying "Our computer system here is Horrible". Arrived early on Monday morning. Everyone greeted me and was in a great mood. The staff was absolutely lovely to deal with and well checking out wasn't the fastest process it was thorough and the ladies working the register incredibly kind. One thing you have to watch out it's at Jewel for right now is their pricing structure. You have to buy five of this or 10 of that in order to receive the pricing that is displayed in the largest prints make sure you read the signs thoroughly so that you don't accidentally pick up a couple items thinking it is one price and it ends up being another. I really love Jewel but you got to keep an eye out at the register to make sure things ring up properly. Even a gallon of milk I purchased a few weeks ago was supposed to be Free with a purchase of 2 packages of Oreos according to the signage next to the price tag displayed below the milk in the refrigerator case, so I found a few packages of Oreos that might be something I could bring to work for a treat and when it was rung up at the register, the milk did not ring up as free. I asked and the cashier found the sale in the ad but it was for two FAMILY SIZED packages of Oreos to receive the free milk, so I ended up just purchasing the milk because we needed it and skipped the Oreos. Be cautious when buying from Jewel to ensure you're not cheated at the register. read more

Just had an employee threaten me with blocking orders as i am a Doordash driver. I cannot lift heavy cases of water, ontop of the fact that customers take advantage of us by not tipping and barely covering mileage costs. I'm an older lady, with health issues and cannot carry heavy items and because I couldnt take the order, a young, ignorant employee threatened to block any future orders I might get from this location. I even shop at this store and now I am DONE. DONE shopping with YOU and DONE DELIVERING your orders when it's apparent the customer tips aren't getting to the drivers. I would never go to this location again in a million years. I went here the other day not as a customer but to compete an Uber delivery. I went to the back of the store and found the door for the deliveries but there was no phone number on the door to call to inform them that I was there. The door was braced open so I stuck my head instide to ask for help as to how to inform them that I was there. There was a sign saying employees only so I didn't actually walk into the back room, just poked my heat in the door to ask for help. The department manager, and shame on you jewel for hiring some idiot woman who didn't know how to behave, came up to the door and literally pushed me out of the doorway. I was standing on the outside of the door, because I wasn't trying to go inside of the back area, even though they left the back door standing open so how secure was it supposed to be, really? Lock your door if security is such an issue, you morons. Anyway, this woman literally pushed the door next to me and pushed me out of the way. When I told her not to push me, she looked surprised and then tried to excuse her way out of it. She claimed that there was a big sign in the parking lot that gave the phone number to call. I asked where, and the attached picture shows the sign at the time. Which was located behind me, nowhere near the door, and on the opposite side of the building from where I had come around, which I tried to explain, so of course I wouldn't see it. But anyway, it was covered in snow and couldn't even be read at the time. This was one of the days when the temp outside was about 2 degrees. This woman, Amelia, is a disgrace. I simply wanted to do my own job and ask for some help. I don't care how frustrated, busy, or whatever other excuse she may dream up she is, her behavior has no excuse read more

Here's a quick update. Even after all these months, I can tell that the management of this store doesn't read online reviews or cares what the public thinks. Frequently managers will contact you on yelp to try to talk to you about your bad experience. Not Jewel, and certainly not this specific store. The shelves of the Milk and Dairy case are ALWAYS out of stock on key items. That hasn't changed. The self-check registers are the same. There always seems to be 1 or 2 that arent' working...which is a problem because this store only has 4 and the store is pretty busy. This store still loses plenty of my business to Elgin Fresh Market...but it doesn't seem like they care. Same situation with no security as well, which as I mentioned before, is a problem in this area. read more

I have had two incidents with the service of the Drive Up & Go service here. Both have been handled by the manager(s) on duty. Today, I ordered online. After they loaded my groceries in my trunk, I decided to check. The two slabs of ribs that I ordered for that evening's dinner were noted as Out of Stock. I parked and went inside and the manager found three locations where the baby back ribs were for sale, 2 for 1. Manager Steve T. advised they DO NOT TRACK WHO THE PICKERS ARE and could not even address the issue with the staff. While I was compensated, they have certainly lost my trust. If they can't successfully deliver this service, they should use a different store that has better oversight. Terrible customer service. What business doesn't have a process that tracks who is fulfilling the customers' orders? Doesn't make sense. Their process seems broken... read more

The evening workers of the deli counter take way too long to process orders. They are not knowledgable of the product that they are selling and often grab the wrong meat or cheese. They also do not listen to your preference of how thick or thin you want your lunch meat. They also get sassy with customers and seem to not want to do their job .This has happened on more then one occasion and we are considering taking our business elsewhere. read more

My experience here wasn't too shabby. Just popped my head in to pick up a case of beer. Was in and out in no time. Forgot my jewel card and the last just scanned a universal one for me which was helpful. I'm a door dasher & we have to come in to get the groceries but when I do, there's SOO many people working on door dash & they take so long to even acknowledge you & do not care your there. This store has gone so far downhill in the past two years. It went from being a clean, very well organized store where the placement of stock made sense in relation to the items surrounding everything. First thing that went wrong was the store reset, which I realize was the product of some moron at corporate, but it took months to be able to easily find most items again. Second is that the store started getting in stock of everything that doesn't belong in a grocery store from bedding to sundresses and I lawn furniture. Now they're putting cardboard displays of crap in the middle of aisles and around end caps so there's barely room to get in and around each corner as you change aisles. Items on the shelves are now blocked by random displays of garbage that doesn't even belong in a grocery store, let alone in front of and blocking items I regularly buy. Then there's the wing bar where they've pretty much stopped labeling the various flavors of different wings, so thinking they want us to guess at what we're buying and be surprised when we get it home. Before that they had them labeled but the labels would be incorrect so I would think I was buying honey wings and end up with salt and vinegar. I called to talk to a store manager about this and the manager on duty had a very thick accent that was undefinable and neither of us could understand what the other was saying. Great job, Jewel. You've taken my neighborhood grocery store and turned it into an ordeal. The ONLY good thing about this store is the pharmacy staff and I have to say they are amazing!!! They're always watching for best price and making sure I'm aware of drug interactions and side effects. Best pharmacy staff ever! 1. There are supposedly two pick up and go parking spots at the Summit Street store in Elgin. Both signs are right in front of one parking spot. It has been this way for days. 2. I had to wait for the one spot because someone parked in the one spot and finally finished his grocery shopping and left. 3. I can always expect that at least six items on my list are out of stock. 4. This store apparently NEVER has sufficient stock of Minute Maid lite lemonade. 5. I have been shopping at this store for years and it has been going downhill for a long time. They hire kids who are young and frankly do not care. Lately they have been eliminating a majority of their name brand items and replacing them with cheap, generic brands. Frequently, I end up bagging my own groceries because nobody is around to help the cashier (I like that my things aren't bagged haphazardly, but isn't somebody being paid to do this for me?). Unfortunately, management does not have the common sense to open more than 2 registers at 5 PM on a Friday so lines are 10-15 people deep. Half of the time, cashiers are unable to complete an alcohol transaction because they are too young and you have to wait for a cashier over the age of 21 to help. The self-checkout registers are either not working or are being used by someone with a huge order. The reason for the 3 stars is the employees that have been there for years. They recognize the people who have been shopping there for a long time and they truly care about your shopping experience. read more

This jewel osco always has fresh flowers. They have two (2) redbox displays to rent $1 dvd's. One is inside one is outside. They have organic bannanas. hahah. I love those. They always seem to have a ton of clearence items in the third to last row right before the liquor section on the left side closest to the doors. They currently have protein bars and shakes for like 80% off. Plus they have party items on clearence too. The bakery is great, try their giant baked cc cookie. yum. read more

Jewel delivery Once I was done completing the order there was no option to select same day any longer. I then requested my delivery next day which was Monday and they showed up with in the window. I then started taking inventory and realize they missed half of my order which was all my frozen food. I called that night and the delivery service was closed. I left a message for them to call me back the next day which they never did. I then called that afternoon and they stated to give them an hour window which I did and waited at my house for over two hours. Also my mother waited at the house for the rest of the night and they never showed up. Once again I called them they were closed. I calledI was never offered free delivery for my next purchase or anything at all. I have been shopping at Jewel for a very long time and I have never been this disappointed in a service. My mother is in a wheelchair and they did at least put the food in the freezer since I was on able to be home the third time around. read more

They delivered in this frigid weather and my delivery guy was awesome. I was glad he was very bundled up but he did his job with respect which is so hard to find. Great experience. read more

This is the worst grocery store I have ever been in. It is filthy and smells! I was standing at the deli counter and all I smelled was spoiled food! I would never buy anything there. My experience with this store has continually gotten worse over the years. Price switching, false advertising, mispriced items, all are common practice at this store.
