Unclog the overfilled aisles! I can't go in there on the weekend because it's constant bumping into people because it's too full of stuff. And register number 6 is too close to the north door, when it's busy, getting in that door is near impossible if that register's in use. And get more than one toilet in there for men. When it's bring used, any other guy is out of luck. And if it's clogged with stuff like the other day, no guy can use a toilet in that store. read more

Jewel-Osco in Crown Point generally has decent service, but the new configuration and the employees at their deli is less than a joke. There was no one at the counter waiting when we approached the deli and took a number, but it took us over 35 minutes for service, and only after I complained (which I HATE doing). Then 5 other people came after us and we were fuming they were serviced before us, because our clerk was brand new and nobody would help her. It was truly pathetic, and yes the manager was there. They just did a re model and I'm actually liking it. This is my go to Jewel location whenever I'm in the area, so I'm usually stopping in here for milk or something for some family member. The sushi selection they have now is on point, and I'm also really really loving that the floral options are still beautiful, even if they have down sized from what they once had. read more

Went to the Deli counter to get some chicken tenders today. One employee was helping a single customer for more than 20 minutes while another paid no attention to me and then disappeared. I noticed more than 7 opened packages of meat lying on the back counter and some ham in the slicer that was unattended. I wondered how long the meat had been opened and just sitting there. The one employee that was still helping this single customer summoned the Store Manager after I asked her to. The young female Manager smiled and said how can I help you? I said, I would like to be waited on and then she proceeded to make up a pile of excuses that were unacceptable. There was a handicapped man in an electric cart that was furious and stated that on another occasion he waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to get what he wanted. I told the manager that I'm not accepting a bunch of excuses and then I left. By the way, the employee was still helping the single customer for now over 20 minutes. Absolutely Unacceptable and Ridiculous. Find somewhere else to take your business because it's obvious these people don't care about their customers. read more

Absolutely terrible. Its unbelievable how long the deli workers take to get through one order of someones. Waited in line for 40 mins before they took me. THEN the woman took over 10 MINUTES to get me 1lb of salami and 1/2lb of cheese. Jewel has GOT to figure something out here. They can't possibly have been dumb enough to not do an analysis of the average wait time and help time of one customer. But something tells me they havent. I'm done giving business to jewel. Fresh, ready to go section is laking. Who's ever in charge is super lazy. There's never anything in stock. At any given time, there may be 3 soups, that's if you're lucky. Mondays, there are no salads or sawiches or ready to eat meals. It's the laziest jewel in the area. The deli department is the slowest I have ever seen. 3-4 people in line and takes 15-20 min or more. They updated for the worse. read more

Clean, convenient, courteous. There have been times where there has not been enough staff, but that is hard to control. My experience has always been pleasant. I've never waited longer than ten minutes on a busy day, and employees have always been helpful. Cheep chicken day, all of crown point is in line, why you ask...good chicken at a cheep price. If I had a gripe, its the digital coupons, give me the digital price without going into the app, I am lazy, lol. read more

This was a very nice Jewel store. If you are used to shopping at Jewel's, this one will feel just like home. Relatively same layout as other Jewel's. Right up front we have to say this was a very clean operation ... a nice thing in the age of Coronavirus. They also provided wipes and sanitizer as you entered. They open very early for those that are watching when and where they go - nice. This store had a nice big parking lot, a roomy store, and carried all the usual things you have come to expect at a Jewel. They also get kudos for having most things stocked and restocked so you don't face a number of empty shelves. We'll come back and shop here again. read more

Had a mishap with my pick up order. Noticed half of my order was missing when I got home, spoke with Jackie, said the bags were there so she door dashed them to me for their error, got the door dash and was still missing a quarter of the order called and Jackie did the same thing. Definitely went above and beyond to correct the situation. Couldn't ask for better customer service. Thank you made my bad day a lot better. read more

I grew up shopping at Jewel stores in Illinois, so I have some inherent loyalty to Jewel. Prices are comparable to Strack and Van Til, but the Jewel App and Rewards program is far superior....the sales are usually better, too. The staff at the Crown Point store are super nice, and very helpful. The lines are usually quite long, but the situation has definitely improved since they installed self-checkout. The store itself.... This Jewel location feels much smaller than other Jewel stores, aisles are narrow and cramped. It also seems like less products are carried than at other Jewel stores I occasionally visit. The store is also showing it's age. The two aisles containing bread/oats/cereal etc.. has this permanent funky smell to it and the bathroom...please never go in there. It's not that it's "dirty"...it just hasn't been updated since 1911 and the years of use have made it...less than inviting? Because of how small and cramped it is, I find myself shopping at Stracks more and more. I feel like this store was perfectly fine when Crown Point was a little town of 10,000 people. The town has grown, a new store is needed to compete with the beautiful and much larger Strack and Van Til on Broadway....or even the nicer Jewel they have over in Chesterton. read more

I called today to inquire about a birthday cake-they're not taking any orders due to a decorator shortage (???) okay, I just had a question then. I didn't want a cake decorated, I just wanted to know if they normally have the strawberry shortcake in the bakery. Debra who wouldn't speak on the phone kept yelling in the background we aren't taking any special orders!! I then explained to the person I was talking to, that I wasn't trying to special order anything, I was just inquiring if they normally received shipment of these cakes. Debra wouldn't come to the phone. I have no idea if they get those cakes delivered on a regular basis or not. I'll try Stracks. read more

I was at this location with my Aunt, we were purchasing 12-packs of pop as they were on sale. (Mainly for a family reunion) We went to go look at waters and then we're told there was a 12 item limit. So I took 3 back to the aisle. (She was purchasing 18 and I was purchasing 9; I then moved another 3 from her cart to mine so we had 12 packs a piece) While I was putting them away they told my aunt I couldn't purchase 12 since I came in with her. So between two separately paying patrons we were only able to purchase 12 packs. The ad does not indicate there is a limit. My aunt and I did not purchase the "allowed" 12 packs from them and chose to take our business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely the worst store to go shopping at. Highest prices in the area and the slowest check outs in the world. Often have the cashier just stand and talk to customers when there is a long line waiting to check out. No self check out registers. Just walked out at 7:45am as 5 customers in line with loads of groceries and I can't wait 20-30 minutes to buy 2 items. Absolutely the worst deli counter. People act like it is a pain to serve you. Have to wait over 5 minutes to be helped when no other customers are around even. The safe spends more time chit chatting with each other than helping customers. read more

Today I shopped at the Jewel-Osco in Crown Point, IN. The self check-out was absolutely terrible. One check-Out was not operational, another went down and staff could not get it to work. So out of 4 self check-out stations only 2 were working. The self check-out line was 6 - 7 customers deep. The associate had to take care of the Courtesy counter as well as the 2 operating self check-out stations, which needed her attention very 3 - 4 minutes. I must admit she did an excellent job trying to do 2 busy jobs and kept her composure. Where was the manager and assistant manager ??? I have been in management 30 years and checked on my staff periodically to verify if they needed assistance and it was not beneath me to chip in and help. ALSO ..... the self check-out scales are NOT item sensitive. If you place a bag of chips, crackers or any light weight item the system informs you to "place the item in the bagging area", which I already did. Then the system gets confused and asks for a staff member to correct the situation, which there was no situation, it was just that the scale did not recognize the light weight item placed in the bag. Maybe management should visit Wal-Mart's self check-out, which has light item sensitive scales and a bagging that holds more than 3 - 4 bags before the system goes wacko! Will try to write to Jewel-Osco corporate office to make them aware of this situation, which in the 21st century is unacceptable. read more

This is my go-to place( it's 2 min away from my house) The regular prices are just ok, but the sales are fantastic! The fresh grilled or fried chicken from the deli is a great deal and nice if you need dinner in a hurry. Yes, the produce section is not large, but the sales are great and the produce is always fresh, And I love the rewards program! read more

This Jewel-Osco location has great dairy-free options. We purchased their So Delcious ice cream and the dairy-free Reddiwip. We LOVE that this location has dairy-free/vegan options! This location also carries a decent amount of organic fruits/vegetables. We just moved back to the northwest Indiana area from Indianapolis. Kroger was our favorite store in Indy and hopefully Jewel-Osco will be our favorite in NW Indy! read more

This is the closest Jewel to where I live and still it's a little too far to go grocery shopping. It's alright, I find the prices are a little higher than what I pay at Stracks or Walmart. But they do carry some delicious pretzel bread in their bakery department. read more

For the last couple weeks I have been absolutely apprehensive about going to any grocery store since we've been fighting this awful virus. I've always shopped at jewel in CP. This morning my husband & I came very early to avoid any crowds. I could not believe how clean there store was!!! Great job . While supplies may be limited, the store was quiet , clean & friendly. Hands down the best grocery store in the area. Spotless store. Competitive prices. By far, the friendliest staff of any grocery store in town. It is pleasure to be able to shop and see employees who obviously want to be of help and ones who put the customer first. Be sure to check out the deli for party trays. My family has shopped at Jewel my entire life, for over 50+ years. So I am a regular customer of Jewel. But the Jewel on Main leaves alot to be desired. Poorly managed store. I took my neighbor there the other day and we openly heard employees talking very loudly how unfair the bosses are, one girl even said she understands why people are constantly quitting. Tacky to say the least. This is not the first time I have overheard employees there. The deli workers were saying very negative comments about their bosses and other workers a few months back. I'll tell you, in this climate and with the virus, I do not want to shop at a place for my food that has disgruntled employees. Customer service in the Deli is terrible. 4 people back there one waiting on a customer, the other restocking and the other talking talking about personal stuff and trying to look busy. I was the next number. Took one if the 2 over 10 minutes to finally call my number and they continued to talk about personal stuff in between preparing my 3 items. I went today and many of the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's hard to find good friendly service and I was very pleased.

Not a huge fan,I was forced to shop here because our Strack's closed and it's the only close grocery store to my house.Most of the time I can find what I need but over the last 4 shopping trips my confidence in Jewel has greatly decreased.Every time I go there,I cannot find at least 1 or 2 things.I spend forever walking around trying to find the item,or at least someone to HELP me,with some luck.Today I went with a very small specific grocery list (10 items) and at 6:15 in the morning they were already out of stock of 4 of those much needed items.When I asked the butcher for something he told me to "look over there".I followed his advice and "looked over there" but they were out of stock on an advertised item in today's paper.I asked him to check in back and as he walked away I saw him roll his eyes.I was told to come back later on today but I am busy and don't have all day to make 2 round trips in 'hopes' of getting what I need. I tried to buy baby formula and was told by one of the pharmacy people that "By the way,Osco doesn't have anyone to help you until at least 7 am." Well I am SORRY but my 5 month grandson does not know how to read a clock yet,all he knows is that he's HUNGRY and wants formula.The young male cashiers have no personality and barely acknowledge a customers' presence,nor do they even try to smile or be pleasant."Beep beep beep" they ring out the groceries and half the times they don't even tell me what the total $ is.I have to strain my neck to look at their screen.NOT good customer service,I think it's time I start shopping elsewhere... read more

The manager here must be very disinterested in his customers. While the other Jewel stores in the area reduced the price of the annual flowering plants they were selling, this manager chose to discard the plants with no regard to the people on fixed income who could not afford the original high price Jewel was asking! read more

I was strickly a Stracks shopper. This past year I was becoming irritated by their inferior produce. Two weeks ago I decided to try Jewel after many years of not shopping there. The final decision came when I threw away every peach and nectarine because they were mealy. Jewel had 39 cents peaches also. They were perfect , sweet and juicy. My daughter and I bought quite a bit that day as Jewel has come down on most of their prices. And their sales seem to be even cheaper than Stracks. read more
