The food tastes exquisite, but the floor is dirty. Service is pretty nice would recommend, but there are better ones.

A Hearty Homestyle Italian Experience at Nonno's in Cedar Springs…read more As someone who's a proud quarter Italian (with a son who's one-eighth Italian and seven-eighths delightful mongrel), our family takes our pasta seriously. So when we wandered into Nonno's Homestyle Italian & Pizzeria on a sunny July evening at 5 PM, we were ready to embrace our heritage one bite at a time. Tonight's special was chicken Parmesan with spaghetti, and I knew I had to give it a whirl. My son opted for the pasta penne with chicken and their creamy Rose sauce. His entrée came with a fresh side salad, while both our meals included generous slices of garlic bread. I added a side salad with their house dressing--which, while simple, was downright addictive. Sometimes less truly is more. Now, when we say the portions are generous, we mean it. My son was served what can only be described as a ceremonial pasta bucket. Undeterred, he dug in with gusto and earned his spot in the prestigious clean plate club. As for me, the chicken Parmesan was delicious but defeated me just shy of victory--I ate too much to warrant a to-go box, yet not quite enough to claim a clean plate badge. A noble effort nonetheless. Drink-wise, my son kept things bold with a Dr. Pibb, while I went with a refreshing lemonade. We both agreed our meals hit the mark: flavorful, filling, and made with care. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. The restaurant was spotless, our server friendly and attentive without hovering. I even popped into the men's room before dinner and was genuinely impressed--clean enough that, while I wouldn't endorse it, you could probably eat off the floor. (Respect to the crew who keeps it that pristine.) All in all, Nonno's is one of Cedar Springs' hidden gems--a place where even partial Italians and full-blooded food lovers can find something to celebrate. We'll be back. Next time, maybe I'll train harder and join the clean plate club myself.

Out here on the edge of the galaxy, a traveler learns to keep things simple: I order my pizza with extra sauce, and I ask for it well done so it comes out crisp instead of wet and floppy. A fair trade, easy as guiding a speeder down a straight canyon. But today's pie--pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, onions, and that extra sauce--came out pale and soft, like it barely survived a pass through the twin suns. The cheese wasn't fully melted. The center folded over like damp star‑paper. The extra sauce just pooled and soaked through the crust because it never got the time it needed in the oven. And the place was empty. No rush. No line of bounty hunters waiting for their orders. Plenty of time to cook it right. They just... didn't. I've worked in other pizza cantinas across the quadrant. I know what "well done" means, especially when you're dealing with extra sauce. This isn't a one‑time misfire--it happens every single visit. I end up taking the pizza home and finishing the job in my own oven like some wandering ranger patching up his own gear. To the managers: Train your crew. "Well done" isn't a ceremonial phrase. It's a request I pay for. And if you can't do it, put a note in the app that says, "Warning: Your pizza may emerge soggy from hyperspace." Little Caesars used to be the cheapest fuel in the sector, so folks forgave the rough edges. Not anymore. Other places cost the same--or less--and they actually cook the pizza right. If you're not the bargain outpost anymore, you've got to nail the basics. I'll probably return, because I'm stubborn and loyal to old routes. But next time, I might holster a pair of oven mitts on my belt, just in case. (Photos show the floppy slice, unmelted cheese, and the droop--no tricks, just the truth from the frontier.) Ambiance: normal.

Panda Chinese Restaurant - Our Local Cedar Springs Gem for Amazing Chinese Takeout!…read more Cedar Springs crew (and anyone nearby in the area): if you're looking for consistently delicious, affordable Chinese food that hits the spot every single time, Panda Chinese Restaurant (14111 White Creek Ave NE) right here in town is the place to go. As a Cedar Springs local, this has been my reliable go-to for years--no disappointments, ever. Today's order was my classic: sweet-and-sour chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. Perfection. The chicken was crispy outside, tender inside, and swimming in that ideal tangy-sweet sauce (not overly thick or runny--just right). The fried rice? Loaded with onions, green onions, egg bits, veggies, and that perfect wok-seasoned flavor with a nice black pepper kick. Egg roll was hot, crunchy, and stuffed perfectly. Generous portions that make you happy with leftovers too. The family running the counter are absolute sweethearts--always polite, efficient, and clearly dedicated to doing things right. Sometimes their style might come off as a little curt at first because of cultural differences--they're thorough and focused on getting your order spot-on and out fast, which is common in hardworking family spots. But stick with it (especially as a regular), and their genuine warmth comes through loud and clear. (It's a bit bittersweet seeing their little boy has grown up--no more hanging in the back playing video games or doing homework like the old days. Time really flies!) Price-wise? Total bargain. Hearty, fresh food at a great value--way better than chains, and you feel good knowing your dollars support a local family business right here in Cedar Springs. This is one of those community spots we all need to keep thriving. Skip the bigger chains for a night and swing by Panda--quick takeout, speedy service, and food that never misses. Cedar Springs locals, let's show up for them! Pro tip: Extra sweet-and-sour sauce for dipping is a must if you're into that. You're welcome.

I was concerned with was how messy the work area was. I arrived with one person receiving one sandwich and no other customers. The workers were friendly, and greeted me when they saw me. They asked if they could help me, and neither made any effort to clean the station. I told them I ordered through the app, They hadn't begun them, but I was early so not concerned about that and assured them I knew I was early. They began making my subs. After getting the breads together they began cutting them. The breads looked half baked, so I asked them to toast them all though we originally only had one being toasted. I wanted the bread to finish cooking so we wouldn't get sick. They began with the 2 BLTs and went for the meatballs for the third sub only to realize there were none. One worker asked if they had more meatballs, the other responded "yes, in the freezer." I told them to go ahead and make them all BLTs. Literally, the reason my daughter and I were getting Subway on Friday night was so I could get a meatball sub. However, a poorly managed kitchen ran out of a major sandwich item before dinner rush time. I could understand running out at 8:05 PM, is inexcusable to runout before 6:05 PM. To top this off, rather than clean even a single spill or getting the meatballs out of the freezer, the second worker began making his personal sandwich while I was being rung up. The combination of the disgusting workstation, the missing food items (that were available), and the lack of proper management and/or training will keep us from going back to this Subway in the foreseeable future.

I had a doctors appointment in GR and was craving a Wendy's burger. We had a visit to another one of your chain restaurants about 6 months ago and to say the least the food was horrible. I figured it was the area and we opted for your place yesterday. The place was clean inside we'll give you that, but the food was horrible! Fries were tasteless (what happened to those big fries? Those were the bomb!) Burgers? The buns were flat as pancakes, the burger was dry (you could see the burger sat under the lights for some time, it wasn't fresh. I've worked fast food I know the look.) The bacon, it was bits not a nice couple whole pieces like normal burgers have and the burger was so small I should have ordered 3 for my husband. Shrinkflation like everything else these days! I didn't finish my burger as it just didn't smell or taste right. I wasn't going to have it remade as it prob wouldn't be any better quality. And for the money you pay for these meals today, it should be grand quality! Two baconator meals, and a small frosty was almost $30! We don't eat out often as it is and cost is the main reason. But, if we find a spot we like/love we will treat ourselves bout once a month. The tables were wiped down but with a dirty cloth because it was cloudy as could be. So we put down napkins to put our food on. The ketchup tasted funny as if it sat too long un-refrigerated. So from this point on we're not going to your chain anymore. It's sad actually because we loved your food! If we had known that Jimmy John's wasn't far from you, (we had visited our daughter on our last visit to Cedar Springs was a just a hop, skip and jump down the road) we would have been there.
