The only issue I've had the last few times of going is that the home fries are being overcooked constantly, I think because the place gets to packed sometimes that they're cooking the potatoes ahead of time and keeping them sitting for a while, overly cooking them and having them hard as a rock and inedible. Home fries are one of my favorite things to eat so this has been very annoying the last few times that's it's happened. I think in the future I'll just have to be upfront and tell the waitress to get a new order of home fries otherwise, this issue could continue. If the potatoes are cooked well, then this is my ideal breakfast place!

The soup was bland, my salad, basic iceberg with 2 wedges of tomato and 2 rings of onion.The chicken salad okay. The pot pie had little chicken in it and not overly flavorful. However we saw what others had ordered for breakfast and that looked good. Prices on par . When we were ready to leave our waitress brought a container of lollipops to our table and offered we should take one for ourselves. A nice gesture.Maybe would try breakfast if we are in the area again.

We did, however, find one about 4/5 of the way into it. Entrance way is at the end of a ramp, which I would interpret as a fairly tight squeeze if I was in a wheelchair. However, there was a fellow in an electric wheelchair making his way down the ramp as we were coming up, and we all made it up (and down) easily enough with just a pause. Hostess desk is immediately in the entrance. Very personable lady said it'd be a 25-minute wait, and that was pretty accurate. I gave her my phone number and received a message to download Yelp! including a "Your place in line" feature. Benches to sit and wait - one outside and three inside. We were 4th in line, and then 2nd, and then 1st. I felt a vibration from the phone but saw no message. So I went to the desk to check, and they were ready anyhow with 4 empty tables. Seated us quickly and our waitress Ashley was there in short time. Paula (wifey) ordered some Egg Sandwich and a small order of French Toast. I ordered Southern Benedict, which was a buttermilk biscuits base, topped with a fried chicken patty, 2 poached eggs, and smothered in a creamy sausage gravy, and it came with an order of home fries. We were both very happy with the flavor and portions. In fact I was rather full and didn't eat the last 3 or 4 bites. I also had an iced coffee, which was nice and strong. The place is very much where neighbors and families meet and greet. Lot's of "Norm!!" moments. Pricing if fairly average -- it was (with a 20% tip) $45 for us two. My only complaint had nothing to do with the restaurant, but with adults who don't know how to tell a kid not to do shrill whistling in a restaurant. No more details on that. Again, not the restaurant's fault. We definitely would like to go there again, especially to order some bacon, as that, in my estimation, is a very important factor for breakfast -- I just didn't have any reason for it this time, what with the chicken and the sausage gravy.

Frates has delicious burgers, sandwiches and seafood options along with a ton of ice cream to finish off with. I had a Philly cheesesteak with a cake batter ice cream to finish and it was the perfect late lunch on a hot spring day. Parking is ample and the venue itself is very retro cute. Prices are a little steep for the area but the food is good enough quality to justify it. Just wish they gave complimentary fries/sides with their sandwiches like most burger joints do.
