It was kismet this bakery was just down the street from a restaurant we chose for his birthday dinner. I called and the owners took down my name and the fact I'll be there around 7 at night. Didn't even take down payment info or number. I got there a little after 7 & saw they had sweet potato cakes left. Reasonably priced too! $40 for larger and $30 for smaller. I thought $30 would work for just 4 of us but for $10 extra, my partner thought we should splurge. The owner remembered me from the phone call and addressed me by name. While his wife was ringing me up, her husband came up to me with a bag of bread to throw in. That was so sweet. With their service, variety and price point, we'll be back. The cake was delicious too. Not sure how cold their display is but the cream filling in the middle was just cold enough to taste like soft serve ice cream. Intentional or not, it was delicious!

The staff member who answered the phone asked us to bring the whole cake back for an exchange. I explained that we had already cut the cake and eaten a few pieces, and she specifically said that was fine, even if we only had photos, or no photos at all, and that she would still honor a replacement cake. Based on that conversation, we decided to bring only the fruit back to show them. When we arrived at the store, another staff member told us that since we did not bring the entire cake and that only the fruit was bad, she could exchange the fruit only, not the cake. She also stated that the staff member who answered the phone was new and had not explained things clearly. Although we were eventually given a replacement cake, the experience was very unpleasant. There was no acknowledgment of fault, no apology, and our question about when the cake was made was not answered. The replacement was given reluctantly. We have been loyal customers of this bakery for many years and have always had wonderful experiences celebrating special occasions with their cakes. It is truly disappointing to see the decline in both cake quality and customer service.
