I have been going to this restaurant for years. My family and I usually order the Dinner for 4, but it's a lot of food so you always get leftovers. I love their fried eggplants, falafels, tabouleh,... I don't usually like rice, but theirs is just delicious. As vegetarians we are always on the lookout for good places to eat that cater to vegetarians. Both of us love Middle Eastern food and since I have lived in Dubai, I know what good ME food tastes like. Jerusalem is right up there among good ME restaurants. This location is my favourite Middle Eastern restaurant in Toronto. No buffet here and do they ever know how to cook lamb! I have grilled skewers every time I come here. We enjoy a plate of olives and hummus with warm pita bread while we wait for our dinner. It is a bit of a drive for me but always worth it! read more

What a meal! Ordered the dinner for two for $41 and wow, so much food. I personal think 4 people could have shared the meal while ordering another appetizer. The service was good, although they weren't really that friendly, but efficient. The atmosphere was good and loud, families enjoying their meal and it had a very good community vibe. I recommend this place for people looking to have a good meal accompanied by good value. I wouldn't recommend this place for 1st dates, seating is tight and doesn't have that intimate feeling you'd be looking for, but come with friends with a healthy appetite! read more

I love coming here for lunch! I work in the neighbourhood and buy my lunch here often. The hummus sandwich is my pick! Delicious for a good price! Extra cucumbers are always a good add on as well! Used to love this place but left without eating due to bad service. We walked in and the staff ignored us for 10 or 15 minutes while other customers kept coming and going, banging into us at the front in the process. When I finally asked the owner/manager (or whoever it was) if they could seat us or at least acknowledge us, he completely denied any issue and was condescending. He never acknowledged any mistreatment and acted as though they were too busy even though there were several empty tables. It was reasonably busy but not to the point of completely ignoring us. I live fairly close to this restaurant and have gone in a couple of times. So far the only things that i gave tried is the lentil soup which honesty is probably the best ive ever had...a must if you order this is to squeeze in the wedge of lemon they give you, i have also had the pita and hummus which is absolutely fantastic. This is my family's go to restaurant. Been eating here for honestly 15+ years. Hummus, fried tomatoes, eggplant, lentil soup are absolute must haves. My family typically shares two dozen falafel but I order a main usually shish kabob beef. Meatis always very tendered. The saffron rice served is great too. Inexpensive meal. I wish i did'nt have to experience gross dinner buffet and extremely poor customer service at JERUSALEM Restaurant in Mississauga. so first i found one hair strand in my beef kabob. which i tried to ignore, took kabobs out of my plate and continued eating the rest assuming i wont see another one. but found another one in my second spoon of rice. so I called the manager and showed him both the hair strands. instead of apologizing, he said i was making a big deal out of nothing. he started arguing & defending his staff, made it sound like I was making up a story ( I have long black hair & that hair was light brown, short and of thin texture, which he easily identified wasnt my hair either). and he said even if there was hair , this sort of thing can happen at any food place so I should'nt even complain. me and my friend were grossed out so we decided to leave without eating. i complained again at the cash about their service & food. he smiled and said ur gonna have to pay for the food regardless and the best he can do is give me the tax off, if thats what i was after. that was my first and very LAST visit to Jerusalem restaurant. read more

Middle eastern food. Main dishes are around $11 - $15 - very reasonable and portions are very generous. You can never really go wrong with the food here. Most of the time it is cooked to perfection (I say most of the time because sometimes, when the place is super packed, the beef comes out a little under-cooked for my liking). The Dinner for 2 ($39) or Dinner for 4 ($78) are very reasonably priced and offer the best of what the restaurant has to offer - fried eggplant, chicken/beef/liver/lamb kebobs, falafel, humus, rice, salad, pita bread, baba ghanouje, and tabbouleh. Making reservations is advised becaue it is usually pretty busy. Otherwise, you are sure to wait at least 30 mins for a table. Going in large groups gets pretty chaotic (especially at peak hours) - waiters are visibly irritated, service is slow and since the joint itself is small, everything gets really crammed. If you live close by, taking-out is another option. Overall, it's not the most amazing food the city has to offer but I wil definitely keep going back. I live in the area and have been here a few times. I ordered take-out dinner for my family the other night and have to say that it was meh! We ordered medium rare beef kebabs and lamb kebabs. They were really over-cooked. The rice was good. Ordered Hummus and it was the worst that we have ever eaten. It was bland and tasteless. It had to much tahini in it. Have to say that we won't be going there again. Too bad as it's close to our home. read more

This is a very nice restaurant. Jerusalem restaurant is a lovely Middle Eastern restaurant in a neighborhood with a predominant Jewish population and it offers a very nice experience. The interior, while slightly aged, nonetheless offers a charming and somewhat elegant Middle Eastern aesthetic, which adds greatly to the experience. I began with the "Hummus with Meat" ($8.95), which offered an absolutely delicious hummus served with veal & lamb and pine nuts. I followed up with their lamb chops ($17.95), which I had with a Caesar salad and rice. My visit was several weeks ago, so I cannot remember it well enough to evocatively describe the food, but I enjoyed everything immensely. If it weren't for the fact that, as a popular independent restaurant in a wealthy neighborhood, this place unbelievably does not even accept debit (go to the ATM before you show up, folks), this place would get 5 stars from me. This is one of the restaurants I have been eating at for as long as I can remember. Established in the early 70s, the Eglinton Avenue West location has stood in exactly the same spot since its inception (along with Baskin Robbins) serving reliably tasty middle eastern fare. My favourite menu item is the whole sea bass deep fried with a light, garlic-y, richly seasoned crust served either with rice or fries (rice is a little salty but goes well with the fish). The meal comes with tahini, sauce, mixed pickles (beets, hot peppers, pickles) a delicious mixed green salad with mint and parsley and an ample serving of either regular or whole wheat pita bread (the best I've tasted in Toronto). Home-made hot sauce akin to a harissa paste is delicious and available on request. There isn't another dish like this in mid-town Toronto to my knowledge-certainly not for the price ($25.00 including tax). The hummus is also great as is the tabouleh and the babaganoush (though the latter has a particularly pungent eggplant flavour). Shish Kabob dinners are always very fresh and cooked exactly as ordered. The falafels are tasty but definitely not short on grease and salt-certainly a flavourful treat. Staff are efficient and responsible and the place is pretty much always busy-sometimes scarily so (last witnessed just before passover and over Easter Weekend). It seems however that the eat-in customers get the short end of the stick, pleasant enough as the restaurant is in terms of its ambience and wait staff. This place does HUGE take-out business with those in and out of the neighbourhood and has for decades. read more
