The best delish healthy, fresh, and fairly priced Mediterranean dine in casual or carry out. Today I requested the vegetarian combo to take out , and I was rewarded with an awesome lunch with enough for dinner. I was not disappointed. There was a sampling of all my favorites, including stuffed grape leaves. The tabouleh salad was fresh and yummy . They also offer a lunch special for under 9.00 if you're into kabobs, which I am not, but they will substitute. read more

Overall I would say good. We had it delivered We had the chicken shawarma, the beef pita and the avocado falafel sandwich. The avocado Sandwich was our least favorite and I would say the chicken shawarma was our favorite. So goooood. The rice was great and chicken flavored very well. The beef pita was also good but way tastier just eating the beef right out of the sandwich. Very tender and flavorful. Delivery was fast although I did not like the fact that they gave me no receipt nor a menu for future ordering. Maybe I'll stop in one day when passing and get some more of the chicken shawarma. read more

Very nice food and great Value for money. Very hospitable staff and great food. Mousa (who probably owns the place) is always so nice and courteous. The only piece of feedback is the sauce - which has its good days and its great days. I would like some consistency on this. Otherwise fantastic overall - especially the Combo feast is amazing. read more

Tried this place yesterday-The food was good - I thought it was pricy till it arrived at the table. They give you generous portions. We had to take some home. A good variety on the menu. A good place to go for a change of pace. Right across from Mariano's on Roosevelt. Very convenient and a lot of parking and seating. Very clean. I recommend this restaurant. read more

Always searching for good Middle Eastern food but it's never an easy find. Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon while doing errands and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and portions. Salmon dish was a little too dry for my liking, but it had great taste. Chicken tenders the chicken tenders dinner was also very good and made to order. The garlic sauce, hot sauce and green sauce were absolutely delicious too. But the tabouli salad was very watery unlike others we've had in the past. If you're in the neighborhood you're looking for a Mediterranean dish, it's a good place to stop by. Customer service was excellent. read more

Great price, tasty food! A go to place for me, especially in a pinch as they prep food quick. Really like the combination plate.

Good and authentic food. It's my local go to when I have a taste for Mediterranean food.

I went to Jerusalem Cafe because of the good reviews. I do not agree with them. I got the schwarma and was disappointed!! I have schwarma a lot from different places and this was not good. The meat was tough and had very little taste. The rice was just yellow, also without much taste. I also treated myself to a baklava mix and they tasted old and soggy like it had been sitting for days. Not crispy and sweet like it should be. The person at the register also made me feel unwelcome. There is a table next to the counter (for extra distance, ARE WE STILL DOING THIS!!!) with a plastic tablecloth (which needed wiping) and the card reader and I was just told to "insert your card". I won't be back. read more

Delicious food. Nice people. We love the combo feast. It's become our favorite go-to on take-out night. The baklava they sell is also outstanding! read more

Jerusalem Cafe serves original shape falafel Instead of rolling crispy falafel balls. Now I noticed something about the taste it doesn't have lots of sodium whatsoever so if you are used to lot of salt don't expect to have it coming here. I love the fact they don't use lot of salt, less the better. The hummus was different compared to what I had eating at other places. Seems like their hummus are the less flavoring the better you taste chickpeas. To me the food is not about the taste, but the original way of Jerusalem food is prepared that is a message that I received eating their food. I respected that as whole. The falafel sandwich is pretty good, my son ate it, and he is a very picky eater. I also had FRESH pressed ORANGE JUICE, no sugary added to it so I gave this spot a, Bonus Star. Oh, right they give plenty of rice so the question is will I return again? Absolutely yes read more

I went to Jerusalem Cafe yesterday for the first time for a late lunch. They have a very good lunch special until 2pm for $7.59. They serve a generous size portion (in fact it was 2 meals for me). They also have an assortment of sauces on the side in a condiment cart along with pita chips. This cart had a garlic sauce that was made up of egg whites and garlic. This was absolutely delicious. In fact I liked it so much that was the only one I tried. The down size is they give you these tiny little sauce cups that are so small it's hard to put the sauces into it. For sanitation issues they don't want you to scoop the condiments directly onto your plate. The service was very good. I ended talking to the cashier Fariba. She surprised me when she told me she was going to medical school to become an acupuncturist and herbalist. Overall I liked this restaurant as the food was very good with large portions. The service was not only very good, but informative as well. read more

OMG! I stopped here for a combination chicken and beef shawarma combination. The woman who took my order absolutely knew I wanted this specific dish yet I received the wrong good. I got a tiny bit of chicken shawarma and the rice was mushy and the owner was incredibly rude unprofessional. Lazy didn't want to cook beef shawarma for me making a very poor excuse. The food was horrible and lacked any flavor I ended taking my lunch to go because I just couldn't stomach it. Rice was mushy and bland. Nothing special here folks. Unfortunately I can't recommend this dive. I'm praying they go out of business. I'll never stop here ever again. Lazy. Rude, You've been warned folks!!! Here's my advice if you are considering dining here Run like your the last two monkeys boarding Noah's Ark and it's starting to rain!!! Yuck!!! Disgusting food that makes me wanna hurl!!! read more

The most authentic there is in this area! Never going to any other place for shwarma again! Clean, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Jerusalem Cafe is a cafe with great service and decent enough food. I'll be honest, I didn't love it as much as everyone else does but it was A-OK. I had the chicken schwarma dinner entree which was huge! I also had the grape leaves appetizer. Both were good, the meat was a bit dry, I also found the grape leaves not to have quite enough flavor, but it was all just fine & dandy. I wish I could say more on the meal but nothing amazing stood out to me. Sadly, I don't think I will be going back as there are simply too many other delicious places in the area. read more

Ordered delivery. Packaged very well. Generous portions, tender juicy flavorful meats, bright flavors, creamy hummus and baba ghanoush and crisp falafel. This meal hit all the comfort spots and still felt healthy. If you're wondering if you should get extra falafel, let me be the voice that tells you to do it. Everything was delicious. Got the vegetarian combo and the combo feast and some extra hummus. Currently wishing I had more falafel because they are PERFECT. Spontaneously ordered tonight after reading the rave reviews and am glad I did. This spot is going on the favorites list. read more

It was my first time here and as of me being in the middle east for 3 yeats i have tried so much good exotic food my experience here was just ok i had lamb entree and i think it was just ok the rice for sure is american rice im expecting basmati rice since i know its middle eastern restaurant the hummus is not real hummus. It was made with egg or something coz it has a lil smell eggy in it. Im expecting the hummus is made out from pure chickpeas. It was an ok restaurant and i would say that my meat was a bit dry. Its just an ok place im expecting a lil bit more exotic to it. People are nice and the service was good! read more

Was pretty good, tried the catering at an event and it was good quality Mediterranean food similar to the other options in the area.

Great Lebanese baklava, excellent meat, best falafel in town. Also very very good tahini. It's the little things I notice

Everything I have ever tried here has been delicious. I get the shawarma sandwich for lunch regularly and have catered food from here many times. It is always hot and fresh, the owners are very friendly and the staff gets it right every time. They charge extra for sauce now, it wish it still came complimentary. read more

Jerusalem cafe is a family go to. We often order from their catering menu for family parties. Their food is delicious and accommodates all diets in our family! read more

The entree dishes for my wife and I were bland, dry and short on fillings. We had to liberally make use of our own bottle of tahini sauce to provide any sort of experience for ourselves while dining. I used to live in Palos Heights with plenty of other similar restaurants which were far more generous and tasty. read more

I love this place!! So tasty is the food!! All their dishes are so good. I will eat here many times a week now!!!

Wonderful food. Excellent customer service. The owner is very kind and extremely professional.

Some of the best baked kibbeh and baklava I've had! Also love the hummus, it's rare that you find places that uses as much tahini as they do - liquid gold! Friendly and attentive staff as well, will be back soon. read more

I'm astonished that I haven't already reviewed this place; it's my local go-to for Middle Eastern food and there are plenty of good places. I'm a vegetarian and I love their falafel and their vegetarian platter. They also have various delicious mixed juices (orange and banana? raspberry? yes please!) and delicious baklava (my husband doesn't like baklava and he likes it - flaky, not too sweet). You have to ask for (undersized) cups for the sauces; some come with your order but this includes pickled turnips (nice) and a delicious egg white/garlic concoction that is just delightful. YES they are taking orders with the stay home order. Please throw them some business. Food is value priced and so tasty. read more

Sometimes Yelp scores a place high and I'm left wondering if it's really as good as it seems. This place was. I ordered the combo platter and everything from the rice to the steak to the sauces you can grab yourself were all delicious. The most memorable thing about this place was the freshness of everything I was eating. The vegetables were crisp, the steak juicy and tender and they even heated up the pita bread. An all around great place that is well deserving of its high rating. It might not look the best on the outside, but this will definitely end up in my regular lunch rotation. read more

Phenomenal food! The lunch combo special is an amazing deal and so delicious! If you enjoy iced tea, order it! Exceptional!

I cannot believe I've lived in the area and not eaten here before! My gyro, the fries, and the baba ganoush was absolutely delicious. Also, do not order take out from the Yelp app from the Jerusalem Cafe! Apparently, the app has not paid them for many of the purchases we make, some over a year past due. So don't make the mistake I did. But absolutely DO eat food from the Jerusalem Cafe--it's delicious! read more

Falafels are great! Strange you have to pay for hot sauce and tahini sauce with your food. Never had to do that at other middle eastern restaurants. Pita Inn still #1 read more

I was here last night. A little about myself: I hate trying new places, let alone new foods. So I was very hesitant about trying this place out especially because I've never had middle eastern food! But it was amazing! The food was amazing! I got the chicken pita with a side order of fries! The chicken was perfectly marinated and not dry. The pita was the best pita I've ever had. And the fries, perfectly seasoned. The service was great! Will come back very soon, thank you Jerusalem Cafe. read more

Great food , homemade everything. And a owner who is always there , and cares about his customers

This place offers the best tasting Mediterranean food I have ever had bar none. Good selection on menu too.

I'm in town for a week and frankly I'm tired of eating out. Tonight I just wanted something delicious and healthy and convenient. A quick search of the area raised an unexpected find - The Jerusalem Cafe. Loads of great reviews and a hope fore something different led me into the door of this simple and basic small restaurant. I am so glad that I came. They obviously are a popular local place for both eat in and carry out. The woman at the counter happily explained the options and I chose the #1 Combination Feast. It was delicious and very good size portions. Lots of meat and plenty of flavor. A complete bargain at $10.59. Everything tasted fresh and I would definitely recommend it to friends or eat here again in the future. Great food, staff, and value. Really great all around. Give it a try. read more

I like their food a lot. I usually get lamb or beef gyros. The staff and the customers speak in their dialects so I feel like it's the right place to get close to authentic taste to food. The staff is professional too and courteous. I only gave 4 because I think the price is slightly higher than I wish it to be, maybe $1 or $2 higher than I want it to be but it could just to be me. read more
