Back at Jersey Mike's today. Been to this location a few times, time to review. If you read some of my recent reviews, I have been paying attention more to sodium in foods. Let me tell you there is a ton of sodium in everything we eat everyday, everywhere. If you are eating out or even at home, lots of sodium, we love our salt. I have been reading labels more and nutrition at various places when out, so good to try to watch what you can. This location like all Jersey Mike's, the service is fast, the staff is very friendly and always a good experience. The decor is the same as the others here, no surprise there. Today I decided to try a bowl and forgo the bread which can account for a large amount of sodium, although I love the rosemary Parmesan. The meats for the most part can have a lot of sodium as well and some cheeses, pickles, etc. I digress. As I said, I tried the bowl with Roast beef and Swiss as these are the lowest possible options for sodium content. With lettuce of course topped with tomato and onion. Seasoned with oregano and pepper, dressing vinegar and oil. In total should be under 500 mg of sodium, good protein and minimal fat, not bad for a sandwich shop. Although I lover the bread, having it in a bowl style was very good and I think I could get used to not having the bread, it was soo yummy! See my pics for the bowl and try one today. Enjoy!

Evidence of sub in a tub container leaking due to improper handling.

While the food is usually good, these people have no clue how to package their subs in a tub. I have no idea why they think it is okay to tilt these on end to place in the bag...hello people, when you do this the oil and vinegar leaks out into the bag. By the time you get home, you are lucky your food has not fallen through the bag. Now when you get home and set the bag down, you now have an oily mess on your counter to clean up. This has not only happened at this location but also the location on Tapo Canyon. They are probably owned by the same person. Will have to try LA Avenue next and see if the packaging is any better.

Stopped by here for lunch right after landing in LA and it was packed with a lunch rush. We ordered…read morethe pastrami dip, pastrami burger, small fries, and onion rings. The pastrami burger and onion rings were the highlights for me. The onion rings were super crispy with a nice, light batter. The burger hit the spot too. The fries were a bit underwhelming though, kind of bland and definitely needed more seasoning. Overall, a solid stop if you're craving pastrami, but I'd skip the fries next time.

Let's get one thing straight--The Hat isn't just good... it's the kind of place that makes every…read moreoverpriced, overhyped sandwich shop look completely ridiculous. I ordered the pastrami dip, and this is how it's supposed to be done. Not dry, not chewy, not some sad excuse for deli meat. This was juicy, tender, stacked high, and absolutely dripping with flavor. Every bite hits hard--rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. And the bread? Holds together like it actually wants to be part of the sandwich, not fall apart halfway through like a soggy mess. Now let's talk about the onion rings... because this is where they flex. You order a "large," and instead of some tiny portion pretending to be generous, they hand you a brown paper bag absolutely PACKED with crispy, golden onion rings. Not greasy, not limp--crunchy, hot, and seasoned properly. This is what a large is supposed to look like. Other places should be embarrassed. And the service? Fast, efficient, no nonsense. No attitude, no confusion, no standing around wondering what's going on. These people know exactly what they're doing. Orders come out quick, everything's hot, and the whole operation runs like a machine. That's how you handle volume without sacrificing quality--something a lot of places clearly can't figure out. No gimmicks. No trendy nonsense. No tiny portions dressed up to look fancy. Just big, bold, properly executed food that actually delivers on what it promises. Meanwhile, other spots are out here charging double for half the portion and calling it "premium." Stop it. This is the standard. Bottom line: If you want a real pastrami sandwich, real portions, and service that actually keeps up--go to The Hat. If not, go waste your money somewhere else. I'll be back. And next time, I'm getting another bag of those onion rings--because clearly, one isn't enough.

While I can't speak to the dine in experience, I can definitely say the food is delicious. The rice with beans isn't quite as good as I've had elsewhere and isn't something I'm fully used to yet, but it's still decent. The macaroni salad is a standout, and both the chicken and steak along with the sauce are flavorful and satisfying. Those are the items I've tried so far, and I'm excited to explore more of the menu. It does have a slightly different style compared to other Hawaiian barbecue I've had, but it's still really enjoyable. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the area or looking for something a little different!

The restaurant and bathroom was super clean. The staff was super friendly and helped us choose different items to try a little mix of everything. Oh I almost forgot-we tried the upside down pineapple cake and it was sooooooooo good! The pork tasted so yummy and paired really well with the mango coleslaw and the veggies which I usually don't like but the way they cut them small and the seasoning is tasty. My daughter loved her kids meal and the spamasubi and I got the 4 tacos special of the day and tried one of each taco.
