#3 Ham and Provolone
Anthony A.

I haven't been one for a sub sandwich for a while, but recently I saw that Jersey Mike's has a lunch special. Where you can either get a sandwich, a salad, or a wrap plus chips and a drink for less than $11 with tax. Additionally, on Mondays, they now offer double points, so this has became one of my favorite to go to for lunch. I often order on the app so this way I can just pick it up. Most times by the time I arrive my meal is already ready to go. I haven't had a problem with them making any order incorrectly yet. The staff is always friendly. The restaurant inside is always clean and everything seems well stocked. Plenty of seating inside if you wish to stay and eat. Would like to see them add a few more protein options instead of ham to their deal.

Mike's #9 Club Supreme

Heading home from a long road trip and Jersey Mike's is always clutch. The Original Italian is my go to, but this visit I decided to try the Club Supreme. Once again, Jersey Mike's did not miss! Roast beef, turkey, smoke bacon and provolone, the Club Supreme became another JM's favorite at first bite. We ordered the Giant which could easily feed 3-4 and made excellent leftovers. The bread was fresh and herby like I like it.

The service is always great. My order is always done on time and correctly. Love the friendly staff and the sandwiches are always consistent, love the California club!

My order to show I order Extra Meat.

I've been a super fan of Jersey Mike's for quite a while and a very regular customer...up until yesterday. I ordered a Salami & Cheese sandwich with Extra Meat from my app. If that was extra meat, I won't be ordering it again. Very disappointed. For $22.20, that sandwich should've definitely had more meat.

#31 California Chicken Cheese Steak

I ordered a California cheesesteak for takeout. It was not very good, I also got gluten free bread which was not great and very thick bread. I asked for light mayo but the amount I got did not seem light. The sandwich is also pretty small, especially considering how much it cost. It is most definitely over priced and I would not recommend. The person who took my order was very nice though.

My review would be a 5 but they messed up kind of big. My son has celiac. I told them he has a gluten allergy and needed gluten free. I also said no jalepenos. The bag marked gluten free actually had one of the other regular sandwiches in it and he took a bite not realizing it wasn't gluten free. So that was a big upset. I ordered two other sandwiches that were in the wrong bags. I ordered no jalepenos and it had jalepenos and no peppers, I ordered no peppers on the other one and it had peppers. The persons sandwich with the jalepenos can't eat spicy so the other person switched with them so neither got the sandwich they ordered. I ordered tuna and it was fresh and delicious. 10/10 on that one. I did call and they offered to comp us one sandwich. Everyone was really friendly and nice when I went in. It was kind of a shock that the order was messed up so badly. Especially because I went in to order. The food was fresh and good though, just wrong.

Love jersey mikes and this one in particular had a really great staff working there. Engaged, great customer service and attitude. I swear by the club sub with everything on it EXCEPT the relish. Flavor is amazing, comes with bacon and it's a refreshing and filling meal. Also, the jersey shore vibe is present in each store. They have a good set up, I like coming here. It's a staple for road trips. You always know what you're getting!

For my meat, I went with the salami since it was bundled as a rosette. How cute is that! There's so much to choose from. There's a variety of fruit (fresh and dry), nuts, chocolate, olives, crackers. Her husband, El Jefe (aka Jeff), came and took my order. He was very nice, and I could tell he makes a lot of effort to please and serve those who stop by. I love that. Everyone else that I spoke with was nice & kind. I could tell that everyone makes it a point to take care of anything that you may need. The delicious food and attentiveness to the service is exactly why I will be returning, with my girls. We at one point had a conversation where we clearly had different beliefs/perspectives. I think El Jefe assumed what my perspective was on something because of my job and slightly put his foot in his mouth, but we just talked through it. I appreciated his willingness to have the conversation. It is my hope he remembers me and always makes an effort to see the humanity in ALL people. not everyone is afforded the same privileges. I think it's entirely worth it; it levels up the banh mi as a lunch sandwich so well and makes it extra filling. Regarding the flavor of the banh mi itself, I think it is a great place. The bread is not too crunchy, so if you prefer that, you may have to go somewhere else. They really fill up these sandwiches with a lot of vegetables and meat, which I like a lot. It's not skimped at all, and adding the egg from home just makes it a bit more filling and tasty. the vibe this place gives off is an in-and-out type of area. You order upfront at the cash register, pay right away, get your food, and then eat at a table. It is nothing too fancy, but it is a nice spot to stop for a quick lunch. The inside is very spacious with many four-seater tables that could be moved together for a large party. They also have a very small grocery market inside that sells sauces, snacks, ramen, and Vietnamese ingredients. Don't expect too much, as it is more of a side feature. I did try their pho before and it was okay; I would rate it around a 3.5 out of 5. There could be other places that are better, but as of now, this place is solid. I give five stars for their banh mi because I keep coming back for them. Additionally, the customer service is top-notch. Now for the food review itself. I ordered a grilled pork bahn mi with added pate, and pork sausage spring rolls. The bahn mi was good, but not the best I ever had. I wish the bread had more of a crispy crust like a traditional bahn mi, instead, the bread was soft. I also wish the grilled pork had a bit more flavor but it was still good. The sausage spring rolls were good but also felt the sausage lacked flavor. However, the peanut sauce was delicious so it really amped up the overall flavor. Interested to try their soups next!

Firehouse's footprint seems to be shrinking a bit these days with a few store closures here & there. So, good to know there's still some dinosaurs still around, lol. This store happens to be right next door to a much busier Chipotle restaurant. I ordered my sleeper menu favorite, the Jamaican Jerk Turkey, large. It's a steamed hot sandwich. Good size. Could likely make 2 meals for all but the biggest of eaters (me), idk? But, a large by itself will set you back now $18.50 w/ tax. Ouchie. And you'll have to shell out a few more bucks on top to make it a combo meal. Essentially obliterating a $20 bill. Chock that up to inflation I suppose? Nearly $20 is about the absolute ceiling of what I'd be willing to pay just about anyplace else for a similar sandwich/meal. Especially considering you can get nearly a multi-course meal at a sitdown restaurant for about the same price (think Applebee's or BJ's Brewhouse as examples). Service was fine here and my sandwich tasted great. The open beverage fountains at Firehouse are among the best in the casual food industry with multiple choices from a higher-tech dispensing machine. Well a fun little hobby of mine is to enjoy participating in birthday freebies that casual dining places like Firehouse Subs offer, but some do come with qualifications-this establishment being one of those and the basic requirements is you have to make at least a $1 purchase 6 months before your birthday and earlier than 7 days before your birthday to qualify for a free medium sub of choice. So it was getting close and I realized I hadn't made a purchase to qualify so after searching the app to find a $1 purchase I realized I was actually kinda hungry so I decided to buy a kids combo for $4.99 and I went with a meatball sandwich. The combo comes with choice of drink or bottled water-I went with water and I think a cookie but I upgraded to the brownie for an additional $1. I ordered from the parking lot so I just walked in and with 4 minutes I had my food was ready. Parking at this location is kinda hectic while also being convenient as they share a lot with many popular businesses so it can get crazy in there but there are so many spots-it balances out. The lobby was nice and clean-plenty of seats-they have my favorite type of soda machine-the one that looks vintage but with the touch screen with the crazy amount of flavor options for your soda-immediately got me thinking " why did I get a bottled water?" I totally forgot they had a hot sauce bar-that used to be one of my favorite things about Firehouse-as a true chili-head,being able to try the different hot sauces was something I always enjoyed. Now let's talk about the food- The brownie was terrible-did not enjoy this at all-in fact I couldn't even finish it-tasted bad and for sure wasn't worth a calorie past the 1st bite-so total dud. The mini sandwich I got was the meatball sub-basically a meatball covered in melted cheese and marinara sauce.I don't know if I could've eaten than thing any faster-I enjoyed it so much-my initial thought was "what was I thinking getting a mini of something so delicious"I wanted more -it was so good-I don't have any critiques-it was super yummy-didn't even need any hot sauces-I really enjoyed it. In closing-mission accomplished-This visit qualified me for the birthday freebie in the future and I honestly enjoyed my little mini treat from Firehouse-I will for sure report at a later date how the birthday freebie experience went-but I'm thinking based on this experience,it's going to be great-Stay Tuned.

I expect they might make a different meal every day and you just go in and order large or small. Those are your choices. They don't have any spicy condiments and I guess that's pretty normal for Himalayan food. They did slice up a jalapeño for me so I was able to get that capsaicin rush that I demand. If you like spicy stuff, I might recommend bringing your own hot sauces. However, I had no idea I was stopping for lunch and I forgot to bring such things (I clear out any food from my car every night due to the bear situation where I live) So, I just bought one of their five dollar hot chili concoctions that appears to have primarily Cayenne peppers and oil in it. There's no ingredients listed on the bottle so I can't tell for sure. This was a great find because one of the few places I've been missing in the Sierra that we had in Santa Cruz is Tibetan Momos. Sadly, these folks did not have any Momo's, ( Himalayan versions of Gyoza ) They do have a large TV on the screen that I didn't notice at first, and it was playing scenes from Tibet almost like a screensaver. But it had photos of lambs and other farm animals. Very cute. Definitely this contributed to the ambience. It'd be cool if they have door seating, but I didn't notice anything of the sort. Anyway, I'm coming back to Sacramento tomorrow so I'll probably eat here again and find out if they do change up the meals. But all in all this was a good experience. Best part is all the food is delicious. We started with 2 bowls of mung bean w/ mixed vegetable soup. It was a true creamy soup, so I put my spoon down and drank it out of the bowl. Sorry manners? Then ordered 2 large plates of short grain brown rice, kidney beans w/ onion & garlic, baked yam, kabocha & butternut squash w/ garlic, collard greens and kale w/ shiitake mushroom sauce, and a mixed salad w/ basil lemon & agave dressing. Everything was very good. My favorites were the kidney beans, the yam combo, and the greens with the basil lemon dressing. We also got a Bahn Mi. Loved that it was really full. I don't like a skimpy Bahn Mi. For dessert, we took home slices of Coconut Pie, Chocolate Pie, Key Lime Pie, and the Himalaya Pie (layered with key lime, strawberries, coconut, and drizzled chocolate). My favorite was the Key Lime Pie -- tart and creamy. Then the Chocolate Pie, which was soft and indulgent. The Himalaya Pie was fun because every bite tasted a little different. The only one I didn't care for was the Coconut Pie because the texture was a bit hard from the coconut fat. One of the best things about this place is that they change things up based on what's seasonal. We travel with our dogs and called ahead to ask about outdoor seating. They don't officially have patio seating, but they kindly pulled a table outside for the two of us. They accommodate well-behaved dogs, and there was a great overhang for shade. We felt very comfortable sitting out there, so don't be shy about asking if you're traveling with your pooches. I briefly saw the inside and it was neat and well organized. I also saw someone bring their own container, which I loved. Definitely a spot we'll return to.

Main Street Bagel Cafe has officially become our go-to spot for a bagel fix! We stopped by again…read moreand this time I went with the pepperoni pizza bagel and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The pepperoni pizza bagel was warm, cheesy, and really hit the spot. The Vietnamese iced coffee was strong, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. What we also really like here is the fast, friendly service and the great, welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, and it just feels like one of those local places you're happy to keep coming back to. At this point, it's definitely become one of our regular stops whenever we're craving a good bagel!

Definitely a prime combo if you like a little heat to your morning or afternoon bite. We ended up taking some of their specialty strawberry jam and about half a dozen 'bag of day old bagels' to have through later in the week. Service: Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Today's visit was less busier than normal but everything usually comes out in a timely manner. PSA: Please do remember your order, as you'll be asked to repeat it. As the person that took your order will be turning straight into fulfilling it while the teller rings you up. Ambience: Unassuming and always bustling, this little mom-and-pop bagel shop thrives on efficiency rather than flash. The staff keeps the line moving with ease, the smell of fresh bagels fills the air, and the steady flow of regulars gives it a warm, neighborhood feel. Overall experience: A constant pick for us as a first stop for an early bite in Sacramento, when we want bagels, as the price and quality can't be beat.
