Since we were going to be in the Millsboro, DE area, I was not sure I would find anything unique or interesting. I came across Kaisy's Delights on Yelp. The reviews were pretty good, and the most recent one I saw was about three months old. After looking at the menu and reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the place immediately caught our attention. The building used to be a small bank, and the interior still has the original vault, which makes it really interesting. A young couple with a small child walked in just ahead of us, and the owner invited both of us into the vault. He showed us pictures and shared the story of his family and how the restaurant came to be, along with the inspiration behind the food. My wife ordered the Sweetie Kaiserschmarrn, and I ordered the Skier's Kaiserschmarrn. Kaiserschmarrn is a fluffy, caramelized Austrian shredded pancake, often called Emperor's Mess. It is made from a thick batter with separated eggs, torn into pieces while cooking, and served with powdered sugar and fruit. It has a light, almost soufflé-like texture. My order also came with two sausages. The meal was excellent. The owner was very interactive and enjoyable to talk with. My wife and I both grew up around restaurants, so we tend to notice the details. The place was very clean. The table setting and dining ware were simple and nice. The presentation of the Kaiserschmarrn looked like a mess, which is exactly how it is supposed to look, and it tasted wonderful. We really enjoyed both the food and the conversation. Hearing the owner's story and how he got to where he is today made the experience even better. I would highly recommend giving Kaisy's Delights a try. There are a few more items on the menu I would like to try, and we will be going back.

The Grostl was good, tasty sausage and potatoes and the Jambon was a layer of thinly slicked ham. It was very good but the serving size was rather small for the price. Overall it has lots of options and is worth a try. I would have liked to try one of the pastries but maybe next time.

While she was standing by the counter looking at the menu, the cashier snapped at her and told her with an attitude that she didn't need to stand there and that the drink would be brought out. We sat back down and waited over 15 minutes, even though we had placed the request before other customers started coming in. Then the cashier came back and asked for our order again, also with attitude, as if it had never been taken. When the replacement drink finally came, it was just dropped off at the table without a word. As a same-sex couple and also being Hispanic, we did not feel welcomed here at all. The looks and overall energy made us feel uncomfortable and out of place. I hate leaving negative reviews, but between the poor drinks, mediocre food, and some of the worst customer service I've experienced at a coffee shop, I will not be coming back. Being in the off-season climate for family-friendly atmosphere as well as excellent service and satisfaction, this location was the best of the bunch in my opinion! Our wonderful waitress was not only able to hold her own with my party of four, but was also attending to a slew of other customers that were stationed on the other side of the restaurant while we were there. She managed to not only provide speedy service to us while we were there, including refills on drinks, but also managed to get our food to us in a timely manner. Truly an impressionable young woman and, to her credit, hard working, which was very much appreciated by my party of hungry kids and myself. I look forward to returning to this location in the near future when I venture out to the DE/MD area again!
