I was on my way back from the Saturday stages in Newport for the Overmountain Rally Tennessee and being that it was after 10pm, basically my options were fast food or nothing. I was facing a lot of 'closes soon' on the restaurant lookup but saw Perkins was open until midnight. Dead tired, I pulled in about 11, chatted with the equally tired waitress about suggestions, and decided on a Belgian waffle, eggs over medium, bacon, and a pair of strawberry cream fried roll things I forget what they called them. The place was pretty empty that late at night, with only a few tables taken up. It was well lit and mercifully quiet. Everything showed up in about 5 minutes. The waffle was great, the syrup didn't taste fake, there was just enough butter, eggs were exactly as I asked, and the bacon was likewise as crispy as I wanted. Maybe I was starving, since I don't eat much when I'm on the stage for the whole day, but either way it was really good. The strawberry cream things, I only ate half of one. It was a better version of the ones they have at McDonald's. The only thing taking a star from this is that I couldn't get one strawberry and one apple. I did take them with me and ate them for breakfast the next morning. They were still good despite not being refrigerated. I'll probably be back again next year after another long Saturday.

So, yes, I could have said something but no, I did not because I shouldn't have to wait for my food to be taken and reheated so I could eat it. This is probably our last Perkins visit. The app needs to let you pick a time for pickup so that the order is ready. To have someone arrive and get their food as fast as ordering at the location makes no sense.

All managers should at least listen to the customer, and fix the problem, or at least present themselves in a professional manner at all times. I am contacting Corporate to recommend some training since this small issue could have been diffused and handled in a more consumer friendly manner. Weather the establishment is fast food or an expensive restaurant, customers should be treated with respect, as we should also respect the staff.

For those who like deliver please order through Grubhub. They were reliable unlike Doordash who canceled our order, and we are still waiting for that refund back. Why is this food so good? Well one word- it's fresh. It's also affordable and the portion size is incredibly big. I was beyond impressed by how hot the food was when it came. I even adored their reusable bags, and they way the food was bagged. When it came down to the eating part, I was pleased by how delicious the food was. The cheese on my tots wasn't fake nor 'a small portion'. It had enough cheese and it was well placed on the tots. I also enjoyed how I was able to receive plain chicken tenders, I'm not a big flavor person, so plain tenders is my go to. And they made it perfect, even after thirty minutes of watching the television my food was still delicious. I'm a slow eater and I'm happy to say the food stayed room temperature the whole time. Now on my husband's meal he got the jalapeños & tomatoes cheesy fries and Kickin' bourbon chicken tenders. He said the tenders weren't really spicy, more sweet than he thought but still delicious. I did try to get another one last Saturday so obviously I'd go back for one. I got a steak biscuit instead. It was a very thin food service chicken fried steak. Half its thickness was breading. It was good eaten alone. Inside of a biscuit though it was basically a mouthful of bread. The eggs also were a food service product I think. Two homogeneous pale yellow egg pucks were on my steak biscuit. A little institutional but they tasted ok.
