This is a quick review as we are on the road right now, but we stopped in Kingsport to grab a bite on the way up to Virginia. The Shack closed early, so we went through Pal's drive-through and we are shocked at how good these burgers are! The double doubles are fresh, well-seasoned, high quality and substantial. I couldn't eat an entire one. The chocolate shake has really nice flavor and the fries are good, if a wee bit too salty. There are four of us here in the car and we are all very happy right now. Okay, as we were driving through Tennessee, I let my son search and find a quick place to stop for dinner. I was skeptical of his choice when I pulled up to Pal's, but wow, this place exceeded my expectations. We each ordered a Double Big Pal w/ cheese ($6.79) and shared a large frenchie fries ($3.19). Service was quick and helpful as we were unfamiliar with their menu. The burgers were huge, and well constructed and packaged for fast food. Somehow, they didn't seem greasy, and the veggies were plentiful. With no place to sit, we made a table out of our car hood and dove into the deliciousness. I'm a big fan of mayonnaise on a burger, as ketchup can seem redundant when you top your burger with tomato. The mayonnaise combined well with the shredded lettuce. If you like McDonald's fries, I think you'll really like these frenchies as they are similarly cut, but crispier and dusted with a unique sugary salt seasoning. Like most fries, they were a lot more enjoyable when hot, and unfortunately, they cooled off quickly while eating our burgers. My son definitely gives this place 5-stars! read more

I've never seen a fast food place like Pal's. The giant hamburger and hotdog and fries on the store was a walking buildboard that I wasn't going to pass off and notice. This fast food joint was just established since 1956. Only in Tennessee can u get a taste of Pal's. I'd choose this local business hands down for their quick service and friendliness. The food was good. I enjoyed every bit of their frenchie fries with the perfect fry seasoning and crisp. The Pal's cheeseburger was super filling and with the famous sauce on the side the burger gets a flare of sauce that taste like sloppy joe. I've never ate a chippie sandwich before but the fully loaded layers of ham in the sandwich was flavorful. For my drink, I decided on the orange creamsicle shake to satisfy my sweet necessity. Loved it! If I could come back to tennessee I wouldn't pass on their service and friendliness. They were top notch above other fast food chains and minus the greasiness. They lied about their patty melt burger. It's not real sourdough it's just a bun turned upside down, very misleading ! On our long drive to Tennessee, it was time to stop for some gas and grab a quick bite to eat. We passed by the usual chains- McDonalds, Arbys, etc. Out of nowhere we see this wacky building with a huge structure of a hot dog, soda, fries, and hamburger on it. That definitely grabbed our attention. We have never heard of Pal's before and so I took out my trusty Yelp app. I was so happy to see that three Yelpers had already reviewed this place. After reading Elizabeth B, Barron D, and Chuck L's reviews, I knew I had to give this place a try. Thanks for the recommendations guys! There is no seating available at this location, it's drive-through only. We usually park and eat in the car. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and quick. Once we drove over to the pick-up window, within minutes our food was ready. They really follow their motto of "sudden service." The lady at the pick-up window was also very sweet. We decided to try their Hot Dogs ($1.69), a Big Pal w/ cheese ($3.29), Large Frenchie Fries ($1.79), and Sweet Tea ($0.99). The Big Pal was tasty. It isn't the best burger I've ever tasted but it's definitely far from the worst. I appreciate that it wasn't greasy and doesn't leave you feeling heavy like some of the other burger joints. When I ordered a Hot Dog, I figured it would be just a plain sausage in a bun. If you order a Hot Dog from Pal's, that means chili, mustard, and onions come with it as well. How nice! A bit messy, but delicious. I absolutely love their Frenchie Fries. They are thinly cut, warm, crisp, and seasoned with special spices. There is more than just a sprinkle of salt on these fries. I'm not sure what's in the seasoning, but these fries are addicting. I'm so glad we got a chance to try out Pal's. read more

Was here for breakfast .. although as almost the whole world knows Pals is famous for their burgers and dogs. Service was fast as I have always experienced - fresh and hot and Delicious. Had the biscuit and ham. Was not hungry enough for the famous cheddar rounds but I know they are favorite. Coffee is really good too. It wasn't this last visit but a few month ago, I counted the cars in line and I was either 19th or 21st in line. Just for fun I timed when I arrived in line and when I picked up my food. It took only 7 minutes and 20 seconds! You read it correctly, folks under 8 minutes! The food as usual hot, tasty, delicious-so delicious it almost didn't make it home as I wanted to start eating it in the car while driving! Pals you must do something about the pleasing, mouth watering aroma of a freshly highly stacked cooked burger and french fries, because if you don't my wife may not get her burger next time- I will blame it on the dog-she loves your burgers too!
