Charley's Philly Steaks is the FASTEST restaurant I have ever been served at. They operated with skills like those of the Pit Crew at NASCAR, a well-oiled machine with precision. Charleys Is the only thing that brings me happiness on the darkest of days and I'm beyond blessed to see such beautiful smiling faces such as Jordan Ellisons and Andrew Taylor on a daily basis. They cooked my order to exact specification everytime. I ordered my last Chicken Philly medium rare and they cooked it to perfection. I came down with terrible food poisoning and had to have my stomach pumped but that is neither here nor there. I come in here on my lunch break some days and the woman in the apron is so delightful and beautiful her Smile warms my old Irish heart. Horrible experience with ZERO customer service. Placed order via the Charleys app. When I arrived they said they had no record of the order. A coworker who placed an order within 1-2 minutes of mine was with me and his order was there and ready. I confirmed on my order confirmation the time, address, phone number, everything, for this Charleys location. We waited a few minutes to see if it was delayed coming through. It never came through. I said I need to get back to work and I have the info. right here in the app. The person at the register didn't care. He said I could place the order with him and pay for it there. I said I'd already paid for it. He got a bit rude and said, "If it doesn't come across that screen, I don't make it." I said there has to be a way to look this up but he wouldn't even look at the confirmation/payment info. I had in hand. I asked to speak to the manager at which point he identified himself as the owner. I said so I have a receipt in hand and you are going to do nothing at all to figure this out. He repeated his previous statement. I said so I'm out this money and have no lunch. He said, "Yep" with a completely dismissive I-don't-care-attitude. I said well you don't have to worry about me placing an order with you again. I have reported the incident to Charleys corporate via the app. Nothing but an automated response so far, but it has only been a few hours. If you've ever had a quality Philly cheese steak before, there's no way in hell you'd think theirs is up there in ranking. Ok... I know I may be in the minority, since there's a lot of these places around and they've probably sold over a million of their sandwiches, but man..... for $10, this is one of very few food items I feel isn't worth it. I've had better frozen cheese steaks. My only regret is I don't know why I've had theirs numerous times. You'd think after the first, maybe second, if you don't like it you'd never get it again. But I'm guilty of getting it about a dozen times (this particular location maybe 6). Normally I wouldn't even write a review about places like these but I am doing so because of their workforce. 90% of their employees that I've had face to face interactions with are the strangest group of workers ever. Some are extremely socially awkward to me (but laugh and socialize fine with their co-workers so it isn't like they are not capable), others are just plain rude and disrespectful. Oh! And the rest are lazy and slow. The other 10% that are sweethearts I fear will fall into the same bad habits as the rest if they are not smart enough to get out before it's too late. Seriously, I've never had a good experience here and state my observation about the other 10% when I witness them helping somebody else other than me. Won't be back. read more

Even though it's in a mall (JCM), this food court restaurant serves up tasty phillys at reasonable prices (considering the portion sizes). IDK about "authenticity", but still pretty good-tasting. read more

Can i choose ZERO stars... seriously folks, it has been a long time since I ate anything that bad.... This was based on the Johnson City TN store but I won't be going to this place EVER again. The sandwiches my husband and I ordered had NO taste unless you count cardboard as a taste, and mine made me physically sick. I threw it up within ten minutes of leaving the parking lot, having eaten only half of it. I took the leftover fries to my dogs and they would not eat them (I didn't take the sandwiches because I knew they would probably BITE me....) I will never, ever go back there. My husband and I came here to have a late dinner. We both ordered the Philly but it was a struggle to get the order in because the young woman ringing us up kept asking what we wanted and then would turn around and have a conversation with the other workers. I have never been so rudely interrupted giving my order. When the man cooking our food and the cashier got finished goofing off, we finally got our food. I asked for jalapeño on my sandwich (which was an up charge) and it barely had 4 jalapeño slices on it. To top the whole experience off, the cashier came up as we were finishing our meal around 8:00 and told us to "try not to fall" on the way out because she was going to go ahead and mop the store that closed at 9:00. Needless to say, we will not be back. There are many sandwich places in Johnson City, but I won't be recommending this one. Go out of your way and go to the mall to get a Charley's sandwich, the service is much better. read more
