I got the funnel cake sundae which as I started it was very good. But about five bites in... I bit into something that did not belong... I don't know what the hell it was but it was super salty and disgusting so I threw away the rest and ruined it for me. I also got the chicken Philly. I don't know what the heck kind of chicken they use but it was like obliterated chicken, possibly canned chicken. It was not very good. Ao I tossed about half the stuff inside and ate the bread. Their fries were the only thing that we're good, though they were kind of soggy

The food was all very tasty. Good specials so I tried one of the burgers from the specials. Great fried oreos for dessert. Some of the young staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there but everyone was nice enough.

We ordered 2 burgers, the Chipotle Ranch Bacon Burger and the Rodeo Burger. Both came with a side of fries, and both were very enjoyable. I would go again without hesitation. They also had several different funnelcakes, but the burgers didn't leave us any room to try them.

You'll miss this place if you aren't paying attention...a couple miles west of Rogersville with basic signage and it sits a bit below the road level. This is probably why I've never seen a crowd here before. And that's a shame. In a town that is *really* lacking in good restaurants, this is the standout. Don't get me wrong, you aren't going to be blown away, but it's probably the best value in the area. You'll have to go to Greene County to beat it. Speaking of value, prices are higher than a country food place, but if you stick with simple items, say cheeseburger and fries, you'll barely spend more than fast food. And to the food. Fresh cooked. Once again, you won't be talking about this for days, but you'll be perfectly happy with what you get. Staff is super nice and parking is easy since I've never seen more than one or two people here at the same time. Hope this doesn't indicate the place may not be around too much longer. A nice touch is the view. There are also picnic tables for outside eating when the weather is nice. All in all probably the best kept restaurant secret in the Rogersville area.

This is a really good little treasure, on Hwy 11W (heading thru Rogersville) it's barely noticeable in a way ... New, Big-Top Tent, with Big Red signage would be appropriate and be much more noticeable. So, the server & cashier is Professional, Knowledgeable, Quick, and a sweet, Southern gal. The food is an Amazing version of real Carnival type food. Lots of deep-fried goodies, like french fries, Onion Rings, Fried Pickles, Oreos, Twinkies, and so on. We had burgers, which was good. The Dipped & Deep Fried Portabello Mushrooms are awesome! I gave a great word on this place but rated only 3 -- BECAUSE ... There virtually no real Healthy choices on the menu, even tho' it Is Carnival food, and b/c I really did not like the buns ... Dry, thick with a lot of breading, and a lot of crumbs -- not sure what you call those. But the lack of "Something Healthy" makes me downgrade one star, as I wanted to give them a 4-Star Rating. FYI: (Rarely do I give a 5-Star Rating, unless there is "No Improvement Needed."

Therefore, it was my decision to give them a try for lunch today. With it being new, the interior was sparse but very clean. You order at the counter and then wait on your food to be made. I chose to do take out. After perusing the menu on the wall, I chose a 6" Philly and waffle fries. This came to a total of $15.00 and change! The full size Philly was $15.00 alone. I then waited almost 20 minutes to get my order. Now, understand that they were not overly busy. In fact, when I arrived there were only a few people awaiting food. Everyone else was already served. (2 tables). They only have 6 tables. I finally got my order and left for home. Much to my dismay, the meal was not what I expected for the loooong wait and high price. My half Philly was about 4 inches long and I had barely a handful of fries. I don't understand how they could have been such a hit with their food truck with such paltry portions and long wait times. Guess the students of ETSU are too busy playing on their phones to realize how long they've been waiting. I know I won't return

The cheesesteak itself was the highlight--thinly sliced beef cooked just right, juicy without being greasy, and packed into a fresh, soft roll that held everything together without falling apart. The cheese was perfectly melted. I added grilled onions and peppers, and they brought a nice balance of sweetness and texture. The menu had a good variety beyond the classic cheesesteak, including poutine, loaded fries and other sandwich and burger options, but it's clear the star here is the signature sandwich. Portion sizes were generous, and the prices felt fair for the quality and quantity. Service was quick and straightforward--nothing overly fancy, but efficient and friendly enough to make the experience smooth. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, making it a great place to grab a quick bite or hang out with friends without any fuss. While you are there, be sure to check out all the unique artwork and murals on the walls. If you're craving a hearty, no-nonsense cheesesteak that delivers on flavor, this place is definitely worth checking out. It's not trying to reinvent the cheesesteak wheel--it's just doing it really well.

When we first walked in, the first thing I noticed was that it wasn't very crowded. Sometimes that can be a red flag--but in this case, it turned out to be a hidden advantage. The food came out fast, fresh, and piping hot. From the first bite, I knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere has more of an old-school, no-frills vibe. It's not flashy or over-the-top, which actually made the experience better. I walked in with neutral expectations--not expecting anything extraordinary, but not expecting anything bad either. What I got completely exceeded that middle-ground mindset. Their menu offers a wide variety of options, but I went with something classic and comforting: a Philly cheesesteak (no mushrooms), upgraded with Cheese Whiz, along with sweet chili chicken wings and a side of onion rings. Let's start with the wings. The sweet chili sauce was perfectly balanced--just the right touch of heat paired with a subtle sweetness. Even fully sauced, the wings maintained their crispiness, which is not easy to do. If I had to critique anything, I'd say the blue cheese could be upgraded--but that's a minor note in what was otherwise a near-perfect execution. The Philly cheesesteak was equally impressive. The bread was soft yet sturdy, packed generously with meat, cheese, and vegetables from edge to edge. Every bite was balanced and satisfying. The onion rings were exactly how I like them--thin, crispy, well-seasoned, and fried to a perfect golden crunch. Everything from the food to the drinks, the atmosphere, and the customer service was on point. The only thing I passed on was dessert. The cookies didn't look as fresh as I would've liked, so I decided to skip it this time. That said, it didn't take away from an otherwise top-tier experience. Whether you're looking for a dine-in lunch, dinner, takeout, or delivery, South of Philly absolutely delivers. I genuinely don't think this place gets the attention it deserves. It's a hidden gem, and I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu. If the staff has recommendations next time, I'm all in--I'll be there to try them. Highly recommended.
