The food was delicious! I had fried chicken. It was a large boneless breast with country gravy. I got okra and mashed potatoes as my sides. I was a little surprised at the mashed potatoes because it was clearly a baked potato that had been smashed and buttered but it was actually very tasty. The chicken was delicious! The okra was good but a little undercooked. My husband had the Philly steak sandwich and he said it was great. He got fries which were crinkle cut (clearly frozen). I hate crinkle fries so I would have been sad if I'd gotten them but he likes them so all was well. The server was friendly. It was about an hour from closing when we got there. An extremely rude man and woman came in after us. They were picky and demanding. This is a roadside diner, not a five star restaurant. They cook things the way they cook them. You shouldn't go in asking for every little thing to be special made. The server was polite and accommodating to the rude people. I wanted to say something but there was no one else there so I didn't want to make any more problems for the server or cook. Like I said, it's a roadside diner and it looks like it. Long time regular here. Million dollar view at peak of clinch mountain, but the place isn't fancy. Good food great deserts and down home service with smiles. Breakfast is a favorite for me, but Friday night catfish dinner is also awesome. Portions are huge. Two normal people are stuffed with a single order of whatever you choose. I don't prefer the burger it's a pound and is a little dry by the time it takes to make one. Other sandwiches are great. They do special orders (give a weeks notice) for 5 star cakes. The 5" tall x dinner plate size diameter chocolate with raspberry is my fav but others are equally spectacular. All Pies are also terrific and a piece to take home after dinner is recommended. read more

We took our nephew and his girlfriend to Clinch Mountain. My husband and I shared a burger. It was HUGE. Actually it was too big even for 2 people! Each burger is a full pound. Some people might really like that but we aren't a huge fan. The toppings were good though. It tasted more like a meatloaf though. They could save money by making the burgers a little smaller or offering a smaller version for those of us who aren't into that much beef at one sitting. Our nephew ordered the egg salad sandwich. He said it was delicious. It was normal sized. The server was a little less than enthusiastic about being there but she did a good job. The food came out very quickly. My husband and I came for lunch after church. We arrived at 12 noon and were surprised to see only three other tables with people at them, one of them was an employee on a break. We were greeted right away but I was a little bummed when the menus had no descriptions of what's in the dishes and BOTH of the servers had no clue. After asking what was in 3 dishes (what's in an omelette, not what ingredients are used to make a complex meal) I gave up and picked one. Would have loved if all the entrees (breakfast and lunch/dinner) actually said what was in them. I didn't want to make the waitress go find someone who knew the answers to all my questions over and over. Food came pretty quick and the portion size was great. The food was good quality and there was TLC in it. When we finished we waited quite a bit of time (10-15 minutes) to get a box for my leftovers (side note another employee checked on us by this point and she was the knowledgeable one the other 2 had to go to). She was concerned I didn't like my food because I only ate half. I just was full, but I really appreciate that she cared. Once we got our box the original server tried to bring our check and we told her we wanted pie to bring home. She looked defeated that we were not done. She got the pie but it took a little while. By the time we left it was after 1pm and we could have easily been out in 40 minutes. They had about 15 more people at that point and we were worried that the 2 servers wouldn't be able to handle it. We'll try again and hopefully get a better server. Food was good but we just felt like they were not trained or knowledgeable and quiet slow. I'm sure it'll be better next time. read more

This is our 3rd stay here and it's been awesome, like always. We stop here for a couple days each year to decompress after our annual 4th of July family reunion in Ohio, and to break up the drive between there and Georgia. The service is always awesome - Krystal is very accommodating - if it's within her means to hook you up, she will. This year we are in a jacuzzi cabin, which has the jacuzzi inside the cabin itself, so even if it's a million degrees outside, you can chill in the AC and jacuzzi. Its like a 2-3 person jacuzzi, but 3 is pushing it - it's tiny. There are basic amenities, including a microwave, AC unit in the wall, Wi-Fi, big flat screen TV with Roku and Netflix, and whatever channels you add to it. The Wi-Fi password is underneath the router, if you can't find it. The cabin is one large room with a bathroom separate from everything else. So, to put it plainly, you're not roughing it out here - it's just a quiet, cozy, refreshing place to sit back and relax and enjoy the view. The view is the main selling point of these cabins. They all have a back porch that provides a wide, expansive view of mountains, hills, a couple towns, and awesome sunrise/sunset skies. There is a little diner/bakery at the opening of the road the cabins are on, which serves some great breakfast, lunch, and dinner; with some music on the weekends for certain events. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are large, so prepare yourself. Overall, this place is awesome. Don't come here expecting to be treated like royalty. Just come here and hang out, be respectful of the locals, the staff, and be grateful that you found this quiet little getaway. Thanks again for everything Krystal! read more

The people that remarked on the portion sizes were right. My husband and I could have split his Rueben sandwich and we would have had leftovers. I had the Philly and it was delicious with piles of sliced beef, peppers, onions and mushrooms. The fries were regular crinkle cut, but they were hot and perfectly fried. Did we try the vinegar pie? Of course we did. Would I do it again? Absolutely not. There were other desserts and we will try one of those next time. My husband didn't think it was awful, but he would eat anything containing sugar. The servers were very sweet but probably new to waitressing. That said, they promptly delivered everything we requested and they were very nice. We travel this route often and we will go back. If your looking for fancy, it may not suit your needs but they have really good food and huge portions. read more

First time customer and I understand the restaurant is under new management. My wife and I went here for a Saturday evening dinner and to listen to the live Bluegrass music. Seating is basic as is the decor. They had a decent crowd there but ample waitstaff. The big down side was our waitress. She was not attentive nor friendly. Very young and I don't think she had any training. She took our order, delivered our food and drinks and then our check and some take out boxes. Never a smile or my name is xxxxx and never asked how our meal was and did not check back with us during our meal. She did not give us napkins and because we never saw her, we had to scavenge some. I had the 12 oz NY strip steak special ($15) and my wife had the cajun hot bar. My wife enjoyed the cajun bar and at $11, it was a good value. I ordered the NY strip medium rare and it was barely pink and not the best cut of meat but adequate. I asked for Heinz 57 up front and got a small tablespoon of the sauce when the steak was served. I did a double take at the tiny amount of sauce and our nameless waitress said that was all she had but would see if there was more. I never heard back from her on that. The steak came with the salad bar and a fully loaded baked potato, all of which was very tasty. When I paid for our meals, our waitress took our payment and again, never smiled and never asked how our meal was. I was nice and said that we enjoyed our meal and she did not even acknowledge me. She needs training or a new profession. We will go back but I will ask for a different waitress if we get the same one from this visit. Other notes: They have a small gift room and some bakery items. We tried their signature vinegar pie and it was delicious. They also have an amazing location with a fantastic view of German Creek on Lake Cherokee. read more

Soda is served by the can... the food is greasy. The burgers were huge, nothing significant though. Service was good, waitress was super friendly. However, take cash if you're going. No receipts are itemized and their credit card machine jumps it up extra couple of dollars. After calculating four times with the server, the amounts still weren't lining up. I would not pay with a card in this place. Furthermore, for it being a diner, I've never in my life spent $80 on a lunch for two adult and two kids on burgers and fries and kids meals. View was ok. Stopped in with my wife and in-laws while cruising the beautiful East TN backroads. Fried green tomatoes and fried pickles started things off well. Crisp and tangy. Three of us had the fried okra and collard greens for sides--another hit. For mains between us we had a burger--rated very good, chicken fried steak with white gravy--also done right...don't remember the other two. Just solid Southern fare at very reasonable prices. The come-back item was the vinegar pie. Seriously. Very good! That'll get me to return. Dropped the rating a star because even though the service was friendly and rather efficient, the place was cluttered, with the table closest to the door piled up like a makeshift office desk and one end of the entry area looking like it was under messy construction/renovation--exactly like one of the pics posted a while back. Where do I even start about the disgustingness of this place went to visit some family thought we would have a nice dinner that was not the case there was hair in my food and my cousin went to go use the bathroom and saw an employee in there that did not wash their hands then so same employees walk into the kitchen and start touching food without gloves or even washing their hands. The beans were okay but the cornbread had no taste and was hard as a rock. The potatoes were fried in oil that tasted rancid. One bite was enough for me. My husband had the Cajun hot bar. We both had the blt sandwich with the home cut fries. One of the best blts I ever eaten with plenty of bacon with a sourdough type toast. The fries were hot, crispy and delicious. We went here last weekend for lunch. Its a small, locally owned place with loads of charm, good food and great pie. The view is amazing. I had to try their vinegar pie which was really good. My son had deep fried oreos which he loved. My daughter had coconut creme pie which was also terrific. The owner was on site and was lovely. Home of the Vinegar Pie! This is a little hole in the wall place that is mainly known for its awesome pies, namely its vinegar pie. Don't be too quick to judge. Women often used vinegar as a lemon substitute during the depression. I love it. I even make it myself. The rest of the food is decent...just a run of the mill diner type place. Good service. We ate there yesterday. Eight of us arrived for dinner. The staff was very friendly. The portions are always huge. Generally, though, they don't seem to be running a very tight ship. Six out of eight got the wrong order. It was everything from ordering eggs with toast, and the toast never came, despite asking twice, to ordering grilled fish, and it came out fried. I ordered a burger without mayo. It came with mayo. I watched the waitress write it down. The cook just didn't read it, I guess. I sent it back, and a new one came, along with an apology from the cook, after everyone else had finished eating. Another person ordered a Reuben, which I hear are great there. It came with no dressing. On our way out, the people at the table next to us started a conversation about how slow the service is. Running a restaurant is a tough business, and these folks are sincere, but the service is so slow. We come there every few months, and it's pretty much always the same story. read more

I had the vinegar pie and it pretty much tasted like lemon meringue pie, which I don't like, but... I had a slice of coconut cream pie a la mode with some hot chocolate. The coconut pie was okay and the hot chocolate wasn't that get, but the ice cream was pretty good. The service is great but the food is bad. Needs to be updated to fresh instead of frozen food. It's cheaper and better just to go to McDonald's in Tazewell or Morristown. Frozen is frozen so at least get a better deal. I didn't try their pie after my burger I was ready to leave. But hey it's worth a shot. The place has been there for years and years.
