The restaurant was very quick with my food. I didn't have to wait long since again I had ordered while I was in the parking lot . My food took maybe 5-7 min for them to make once I went inside. Do NOT place an online order!!! We were quoted 30 minutes for 3 sandwiches. We got there a little early and sat there for more than 20 minutes after our quoted pick up time and asked about the status of our order. We were told that 1 of our 3 sandwiches was ready, they were working on the other 2. Ten minutes later we checked on the order again and found out that they were still working on the other sandwiches and that the one that had been sitting there for 10 minutes was one of the hot sandwiches, which was no longer hot and would need remade. At that point, we asked for a refund. They had already wasted a lot of our time and we were done! Also, while they were busy, they had plenty of staff and the people who ordered in the restaurant came and went while we waited for the online order. Very frustrating experience. Disclaimer.. I've been to this location multiple times, and each time I have a similar experience. The biggest complaint is the service. They tend to have people there aren't customer focused. During my last visit, there was some confusion with someone else order. Due to the cashier helping someone else, the person who made the sandwich, just set my finished sandwich in there same area where I saw them unloaded boxes. When asking why my same was just sitting on the bare table and not on something to protect the bottom, I got a response of "it'll be alright". I could have asked to remake, but since this type of experience wasn't my first, I really didn't have the energy... I took my sandwich and discarded the bottom bun... Had a good carry out experience here today. Firstly, subs are a steal at 50% off so my boyfriend is in heaven. Jersey mikes is quite expensive, so 50% off is a HUGE deal. Anyways... we ordered online ahead of time and the sandwiches were wrapped up and ready right when we walked in. We walked in and walked right out. The store looked exceptionally clean, and the packaging and presentation was very professional. We get the italian, mike's way, and it has so much meat. It had an excellent flavor and tasted so fresh. It is my favorite sandwich there and I've had 3 others that I didn't care for. I'm giving 4 stars just because there wasn't any hand sanitizer, or way to open the door without potentially contaminating your hands. You may consider purell wipes just in case people leave the store and plan to eat right away. I see why this location is a 3 star. Walked in to get a sandwich the only customers there were leaving. One employee was cleaning a sandwich machine one was leaning up against meat counter looking at me and I could hear a couple in a side room. Absolutely ruined my Birthday mood. Let me start by saying, my family and I have visited this location before and the service and food has been outstanding. My birthday is on 9-11 and despite being on a somber day, I was in a pretty good mood. Jersey Mikes ans Denny's restaurant are some of the few chains the have a "legitimate" birthday promotion, as I have partaken of on past birthdays with no problems and I ALWAYS TIP well for the service. I visted at approximately 4:00 pm and the there were NO customers in the restaurant, and I observed about three employees including an middle aged female wearing a uniform that indicated she was management. I was greeted professionally by everyone as I approached the ordering line and I cheerfully announced, today's my birthday. To which, she wished me happy birthday, then I replied, thank you. I told her, I'd like to order the free birthday sub, and PAY for the additional two. Management lady, askes me if I registered via the website? I replied, that YES, I registered last night. BEFORE, I could even reach for my phone to pull up the website to proove that I did in facf registered, she responded, sorry, it takes up to 48 for you to get a confirmation blah. Blah I didn't get angry, emotional, argue or questioned her treatment of a PAYING customer. I just said, okay, I suppose, I'll need to come back. Sorry for the angry essay. Update: the owner contacted me and listened to my feedback, which was much appreciated. I am so disappointed with this location. I have been here several times because my husband loves the cold cut subs, but I doubt I will return. I came in today and ordered a chicken parm sandwich. What I received was a sloppy, disgusting mess. It doesn't help that every time I have ordered a hot sub from this location, it always is served messy, with toppings that get all over the place. I can handle things being a little messy but when you leave sandwich is haphazardly slopped together and falls apart while eating it, it really just doesn't do it for me. The employees who put together my sandwich today should be embarrassed to serve something the way they did. Clearly, this crew of employees today just didn't care about their jobs because the restaurant was dirtier than I had ever seen it (hair on my table!), there were no straws for drinks, trash cans overflowing. I should've just asked for a refund and left. For $10 I expect better quality. My sandwich also had no flavor and was not visually appealing whatsoever. I'm also pretty sure it was microwaved. Blech! I had never been to a Jersey Mike's but when one opened up near me, I thought I would try it out. I stopped in during lunch two days after they opened. It was super busy and the line was out the door. They were doing a great job of keeping the line moving and getting food out in a timely manner. I ordered the regular Chipotle Philly Cheese Steak along with chips and a drink. I was a bit surprised by the price. I think I paid around $11 for lunch, pricey in my opinion. But I didn't care because I was hungry and craving something beefy, cheesy and spicy! I got my order to go and when I arrived home, I found that I had been given the wrong sandwich. They had given me the Chicken Philly Cheese Steak. I ate it anyways. I was so disappointed when I dug in and realized that the chicken was dry and there wasn't much flavor. I had been to Jersey Mike's once before and was not overly impressed. This is a brand new store so there is that in its favor. So it better be clean and smell good. The workers in the store were friendly and greeted us. They were patience as we ordered. They told us about our options and made great looking sandwiches. They made sure to ask if we have a Shore Card and got us signed up. The lady that signed us up explained how the program worked. Now having eaten those tasty subs, we will be back. I had the mini #4 with everything but onions and jalapeño. we also got to sample the cherry pepper relish. Its sweet with a whole lot of kick. Stopped in for a late lunch (around 2:30) on a Thursday for my first Jersey Mike's experience. Employees outnumbered patrons, which isn't uncommon for this time of day. The service was friendly, but nothing over the top. I got the Chipotle cheese steak on wheat, which was pretty spectacular for the price. However, i did NOT find this location to be well-maintained. I settled for the least dirty table in the place and looked around at all of the diner detritus on the floors under the surrounding tables. Let me say that it was not filthy, but it was not as clean as it probably should have been between lunch and dinner rushes, especially considering the staffing levels at the time of my visit. I'll come back, but I'm hoping that someone in management or ownership promptly addresses the constant need for upkeep that can make or break a fast casual restaurant. read more

While I'm not a habitual reviewer of chain restaurants, there is something a bit special about one's first visit to a new chain. This is what happened today as I finally got myself inside a Jersey Mike's, a sub shop with a history that goes all the way back to New Jersey and 1956. The history is kind of cool - in 1971, the current CEO was a 17-year-old employee of the original Mike's who caught wind that the owner was thinking about selling. With his football coach, also a banker, as a backer, that 17-year-old bought Mike's and continues to be the chain's CEO to this day. Amazing stuff. I wish I felt as in awe of the experience I had today during my first visit to Jersey Mike's. Located in a small strip center in the parking lot of the Meijer on East 96th Street, this location is a relatively new spot with beautiful accessible parking and terrific curb cuts. As you go in the glass doors, the dining area is immediately in front of you (with a handful of tables also to the left). You go toward the back of the restaurant to enter a line somewhat similar to the Subway concept. Jersey Mike's offers subs (cold and hot), obviously, along with wraps, combos, desserts, sides, a kid's meal option and, generally, what you expect from the growing number of sub shops. They will ask you if you want it Mike's Way - this means with Onions, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Vinegar, Oil and Spices in addition to any toppings listed with each individual sandwich. They do not freak out if you choose to detour from Mike's Way. The sandwich sizing comes in "mini," "regular" and "giant." While no one explained the differences, other than pricing, I was later able to look online and find out that a "mini" is designed to feed one, a "regular" to feed 1-2, and a "giant" to feed 3-4. You can make it a regular or large combo and they carry Pepsi products, bottled water and Luzianne Iced Tea (both sweet and unsweetened - brewed, not bottled). So, how was it? I arrived during the lunch hour on a holiday (Okay, Columbus Day. It's almost a holiday). The restaurant was pretty steady in terms of business and having a couple people ahead of me allowed me to check out the menu at a leisurely pace. As tends to be true at Subway, Jersey Mike's had a person take the order, another person handle toppings and someone at the cash register (whom I'm guessing was either owner or manager). The crew was friendly, though problem #1 became just exactly how to hear them. While I heard the first employee fine, the second one had to repeat his question (Did I want it Mike's Way?) four times. The acoustics in Jersey Mike's are just plain awful - it's super noisy when it's crowded and because I sit closer to the ground in a wheelchair, I had an even harder time hearing. They offered help with the drink and also offered their rewards club - which I joined as it only required I surrender a cell phone number. The sandwich was decent sized, though didn't strike me as a 2-person sandwich. If you stick with mini sandwiches, you can easily eat for less than a ten spot even with a combo. If you go above a mini, you're going to likely end up right around $10. The other thing that kind of bugged me was that the credit card machine is one of those set up to ask you to tip (10, 15 or 20%). That would be just dandy if you were actually serving me, but the food is already on the high end of sandwich shops. How about if you just pay your employees a living wage? They aren't the only one to do this, but it always irritates me. I had a bag of Miss Vickie's BBQ chips that were fine. The iced tea was great and I was able to get my refill. The sandwich struck me as most similar to Jimmy John's, though my understanding is it's lower in sodium. The taste? Pretty darn similar. I'd put it in the middle-of-the-pack for my sandwich shops. The bread struck me as fairly ordinary, though it didn't feel processed like Subway. It was a good meal, but not a great one. There's no way that Jersey Mike's is destined to end up on my dining rotation. The price point is a tad higher, the restaurant less comfortable and the food middle-of-the-road. This location really isn't in my neighborhood anyway, so I don't know that they're really losing any business. Usually, when I hit this area I find myself at Project Pie (in the same strip center). This is a fine option if you're wanting to go healthier, but I'll probably return to Project Pie. read more

I went to this location for the first time a week ago and it was firing on all eight cylinders. It has only been open a couple months. I got my usual order, #13 Mike's Way no onions and it was spot on! Plus I don't have to fight the traffic down 82nd St. to the other location closest to me. These guys are slicing everything fresh per order. If you want something assembled in two minutes go to Jimmy John's. Frankly the sodium content of their meats (Jimmy Johns) gags me.
