I have enjoyed Jersey Mike's subs in the past. Thought that they were the best. Until today. Went into this location and wanted a regular Italian sub. There were five young African American servers in there just hanging around watching me. Finally one asked what I'd like and I said a regular Italian sub. For $11.50 It was pricey, but as I said, always excellent tasting in the past. Behind him there was a sign which showed the sizes of the subs. Mini was one piece, regular was two and giant was four pieces. He cut one quarter and said that that was a regular. I wasn't going to argue with him but I took a picture and just walked out. What a disappointment. So I went to Publix and got a full sub for under $10! read more

We decided to try Jersey Mike's since there will be a new location opening closer where we live later this year. I love cheesesteaks, so rather than driving back closer to home and getting our usual from a local place, that's what we both had. (#17 Mike's Famous Philly) It was disappointing. JM may have some sandwiches that are made from freshly sliced meat, but the cheesesteak is not one of them. These are made from frozen steak sheets like you can buy from the grocery store that tend to be kinda thin and overly watery if you don't try to cook it off a bit more. We had already been told that they were out of all bread except white bread, probably due to a local baseball tournament, but that's okay since that's how a cheesesteak is made anyway. Unfortunately, I guess it was microwaved or old or something, because the bread was slightly chewy. Coming back around to the wateriness of the meat, it was pretty drippy while eating. My spouse said it could have also used more cheese, which is a fair assessment. We ate in, and about half the tables were not useable since they were staged for anticipated next-day to go orders. The two crew members were nice enough, and they were quick and courteous. I decided to try the Flavored Tea, which was Watermelon Black Tea. Really good, but pretty sweet, so when I topped it off I added unsweet tea to reduce the sweetness. The other perk of JM was the piped music. My middle-aged self loved the 80s to very early 90s tunes. Lastly, and probably the main reason for the lower stars and disappointment was the price. Sandwich alone was $8.25; to make a combo with chips and a drink was an additional $3.19. So $11.44 for cheesesteak, chips, and a drink. I would have much preferred the drive and a later dinner where I can get a really good cheesesteak, fries, and a drink for a couple bucks and change less. read more

I had a rare craving for a sub sandwich , so I decided to try Jersey Mike's out for the first time. I'm pretty basic when it comes to ordering subs and this visit was no different. I went with the turkey provolone on wheat. Immediately I was blown away by the amount of meat piled high! My sub was completed with lettuce , tomatoes, pickles , seasoning and "juice". I also requested mustard. No chips or drink but I did add a chocolate chip cookie. I was a little disappointed in the selection of toppings to choose from. Also , my sub seemed a little dry . There was no wait when we came in this afternoon for lunch. The guy who took our order and made our sandwiches was really kind of rude. He acted like us coming in was a total disruption to his day. It's that time of the year where I get to reap the benefits of being part of rewards clubs and getting free things because of my birthday. It's rare that I visit Jersey Mike's because of the distance from my home but I had to run back to Hoover and needed to use my birthday deal before it expired. This one is from last year but they give you a whole year to use it unlike other places. When I do visit this location, I normally get the Club Sub, Mike's Way. However, on this trip I did order the Club Sub originally but the guy in front of me ordered the #17, Philly Cheese Steak and I was convinced to change my order because I watched the young man on the grill and all the peppers and onions mixed with the meat and cheese had me go that route. The sandwich was delicious!!! The amount of peppers and onions was just right. They didn't have white, so I went with an herbs and parmesan type bread which complimented the meat and cheese. Since there was a person in front of me I wanted to see if gloves would be taken off in order to ring that person up and new gloves put on. Not only did he take the gloves off to handle the transaction, he washed his hands before putting on new gloves to start my sandwich. Loved it!!! I have seen the opposite done at other places and it is disgusting. The young man who fixed my sandwich was very nice and apologetic for my wait and he also wished me an early Happy Birthday! Ordered takeout. Good contactless system. Order was waiting on table just inside. We got cheesesteaks for dinner. They weren't bad. Not as good as Philadelphia cheese steaks but maybe that's how they like em in Jersey. Lol. Disappointed because I had asked for one without peppers and onions and the other one with and they did them both without. So I missed the peppers and onions. I also got an Italian hoagie for lunch the next day. It was really good especially since it was a day old at that point. Packed with meat, I could only eat half of the regular size. Now I have lunch tomorrow too. Yay! We got the giant chocolate chip cookies too. They were pretty good too. I would eat here again. I love getting sandwiches at this Jersey Mike's location! As I have done on several occasions over the past few months since they reopened after a renovation, I used the app to order my sandwich and picked it up with no problems whatsoever! We usually order the Italian on Rosemary Parmesan bread done Mike's Way. The regular size is enough for me and my wife to split when I add a few chips to mine. I love the cherry pepper relish but I always get it on the side and I also think they have some of the best free pickles in town so I usually order an extra side of them too! After ordering and paying for my sandwich on the app, all I have to do is walk in and pick up the bag with my name on it and Im out the door! Occasionally I have forgotten something in my order but I can usually get that taken care of quickly by just going through the line. And, I got my last sandwich for free because I used the points I have been building in the rewards program! read more

I'm a huge JM fan and have been for years. This location does a good job with sandwhich prep, quality and freshness. Service is also polite, friendly and courteous. Reason for 3 stars is "cleanliness" and it's the easy stuff like wiping down dining tables and sweeping lobby floors. Definitely a place you need to try if you're a sandwich lover!!! The bread is fresh and soft and the meats are sliced right there in front of you!! I was impressed with the Philly cheese steaks and will likely continue to order them from here. Hot and made to order with lots of fun toppings to choose from! I will say it is a bit hard to figure out what all sauces/toppings are available because there wasn't a sign listed (not that I could see at least) so if you get menu anxiety like I do this made it a bit tough! I have been hearing about Jersey Mike's chain for a while now. I even joined their birthday club to get a free sub and drink and I put that to good use tonight. I'm more of a hot sub kind of guy and I heard they had really good cheesesteaks. I went with the chipotle cheese steak. The girl working was very helpful and cooked my cheesesteak fresh. I love sauce so I asked to go heavy on the chipotle mayo. This turned out to be one of the best cheesesteaks I ever had. Cheesesteaks I have had in the past seems to always have tough, chewy meat. Not this one! It was tender and very flavorful with melted provolone, peppers, onions, and the chipotle mayo. The bread was soft too and this was at 8:00 at night. I almost never post a review but The customer service in this place was about the worst experience I think I've had in a fast food place. There was no greeting and the person taking orders, just stared at me until I placed an order. He was visibly ready to go home and the worse part is that he was actually the manager. He was mad he was getting customers. Slamming things around throwing sandwiches together with no pride he was halfway through making my second sandwich when I reached my boiling point. Overall pretty small inside and can't seat a lot of people. Typical for a sandwich shop, line up and select from a variety of sandwiches on the menu board (20+ available). They cut the meat fresh for every sandwich when you place your order. No need to make a request for extra meat here. These guys are very generous with the portions. Not a lot of extras to choose from, but if you order it Mike's Way it will include: Onions, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Vinegar, Oil and Spices My go to is the: #13 The Original Italian Provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni Nothing says Jersey Mike's more than our Original Italian.  A truly authentic Jersey-style Italian sub, it's crafted with provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni. I came here Friday to have some lunch. It's surprisingly busy, but I guess for people that work in Hoover, it's convenient for them to come here and pick up something fast. I was one of two people in the whole place that dined in. I'm not afraid to eat by myself! There were several good menu options, but I went with the Club supreme simply because the word bacon in it ultimately won me over. Even the regular sub is huge and cut into two pieces. You could easily share it with a friend. The bread was so fresh and crisp, as was the meat and bacon. I got it Mike's way except without onions. The only problem was when I went to go get a drink. I saw pink lemonade, and knew I had to have it! It shared its drink slot with the water and was a light pink water when I pushed the button! Gross! I'm not sure why restaurants always share water with lemonade, but that's never happened to me before. My non-confrontational self just decided to pour it out and drink water rather than get another soda or tell one of the workers. So just be sure to check your drink if you decide to grab something and run. I love pink, but not pink water! read more

I really looooove the sub tub option. If you do not want bread they make any sub the style you like in a salad tub. You can't beat sliced upon order meat and cheese There are not too many fresh veggie options besides the basic lettuce,tomatoe,onion,and pepper but I think their intention is to really focus on the quality of the meat rather than so much pizazz. I actually really like the concept. I always get the turkey meat with my order and it is always so delicious,light,and fresh. Today I went a little crazy and got some bacon on it. The bacon was cooked very well My 4 stars has to do with customer service. They do make the food well but don't seem to happy to be there doing it. Yum! This was my first time visiting a Jersey Mike's location. Both my husband and I were very impressed. We went on a Saturday afternoon just after 2pm, so it was pretty quiet. There were two people working behind the counter. We placed our order and only had to wait maybe five minutes for our sandwiches. The interior was clean and fairly small. My husband ordered the giant meatball and I got the regular philly cheesesteak. Both of us only ate half. Those sandwiches are HUGE. Maybe it was just me, but they seem to be larger than the footlong from Subway or the large from Firehouse. The meatball sandwich was very tasty. My husband really enjoyed the marinara. The philly steak was fresh and very cheesy. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough of the peppers and onions for me. Next time I'll ask for extra! The entire meal consisting of the two sandwiches (which we got two meals out of) and a large soda that we shared was about $23 tax and all. The prices are darn good for the sheer size! We went here for lunch today. The food was good but, the restaurant was filthy. All the tables were dirty bad the floor was gross. I wiped down our table with a wet wipe I had in my purse. Drink station had not been restocked or wiped down. There was only one customer there when we got there and a couple came in while we ate. I thought that the worker would clean the tables after those people left. Instead she came out to a table and started playing on her phone to worry about the cleanliness of the restaurant. I really enjoy a sandwich from JM and this one is closest to my office. I also appreciate that the Owner apparently has a heart for employing people that choose alternative styles (visible tattoos, piercings, etc.). However, the training of these individuals is clearly inadequate. Staff appear uncertain of given tasks and procedures. The shop is generally dirty with sticky floors and tables. Literally the worst JMS I've ever been too. And this is a franchise I love and have patroned in many states all over the east coast. It is very poorly managed and the staff are undertrained and apathetic. The tables are always filthy too. Because this location is near my office, I still go by from time to time-seriously, I look past sticky tables and trash strewn about because this is my favorite sandwich- but today was the last straw. They were completely out of roast beef (my go to sandwich) which is just unacceptable for a deli sandwich shop. But I improvised and got a chicken philly cheese sub. It took me several bites to put my finger on what I knew seemed off from the beginning. The chicken was completely spoiled. You know that foul smell if you accidentally leave your coffee tumbler, with even the smallest amount of coffee and creamer, in your car a few days? Ya. That's what this chicken tasted like. The moment I realized it I threw the rest away and left (I know this location well enough to not bother with the staff). As I drove home, my stomach started to turn and a headache came on.
