The Reuben with corned beef and the Reuben with pastrami. Both plates come with your choice of a salad and pickles. I recommend the potato salad; it's my culinary guilty pleasure. Truthfully, I don't get that much a smoky taste from the pastrami, but it's still delicious. That corned beef is so wonderful, it's so tender and falls apart so easily upon a bite. Their soda menu is a very lowkey, unsung hero. I've tried soda brands you don't typically see in grocery stores. Their ginger ale hits the spot without fail each time. I think one drawback is that this place doesn't allow adjustments. I've personally never asked for any, but I can see how other customers might find that off-putting. I typically do a pick-up order vs. dining in, but when I do enjoy the sandwich in the restaurant - the service is super quick and cordial. The interior of the place itself isn't exactly upscale, but it's also more polished than a standard diner. TONS of seating inside and a few tables outside if you want to enjoy your food with some fresh air. I'm not in New York often, but I'm so glad I can get some quality food with east coast hospitality locally.

I chose the cucumber salad. The pastrami sandwich was huge. It was packed with a lot of high quality, tender pastrami meat. The plate also comes with a side of pickles, so yes, I was full afterwards. My coffee cup was always filled, tasted good, and hot. The two staff that were waiting on all the tables were friendly and efficient. There was never a moment I felt neglected. It is real, unpretentious, and fabulous. The hot pastrami is excellent, packed with flavor and served fresh. Service is fast, making it a perfect spot for a quick lunch. Hugo and Rosa are super friendly. The sandwiches are as good as from Torrance Bakery, but Hugo's is more laid back. They have cool sports collectibles along the back wall. This includes hard to find LA Kings bobbleheads of Jack Johnson and Jason Allison. They have Dodger and Laker stuff too.

It's a small store and you can literally look at everything they have within 5 minutes, but everything is well organized. They have a wide range of meats including dry aged steaks! That was a big surprise to me. They also have a good selection of banchans but if you're expecting a selection comparable to H-mart, then just go to H-mart. Note: they don't sell rice paper because they give it to you for free with your purchase. They even have selections including pork cheek and duck as well. So despite the small size of this business, they have essentially everything you'd want for korean bbq. I'll be returning next time to try their dry aged cuts! Lastly, the most memorable thing about this visit was the lady who helped me (I think she may have been the owner?). I didn't feel pressured to buy anything or rushed at all. Whenever I walk into a small store with only me or another customer, I often feel uncomfortable to buy or get out, but not here. Other than that, the only thing I'd mention is the pricing of their meat and sides.
