I've been raising chickens for 15 years. I've had nothing but great experiences every time I've gone here (maybe five or six times) and several chickens I've purchased here have lived eight years or more. Once I bought a few eggs for a broody hen and one egg didn't hatch. That's probably the worst (and only) negative experience I could even make a weak link to this place. I intend to go this weekend, to expand my flock, and I am looking forward to it. read more

I would highly recommend going with Bruce for all of your chicken coop needs, or any structure for that matter! His products are extremely well made and look amazing. I live on a street where all of my neighbors have chickens and they all were in love with my chicken coop when it got delivered. Bruce is such a nice guy and answered any and all questions I had about the coop and about chickens (he also owns a farm where he breeds chickens, so if you are looking for chickens not just coops, he's your guy for that too) he's very knowledgeable! I went to the Amish first and they wanted double the price for the same coop, minus the electric. Oh did I mention my coop also has electric in it! Such a great added bonus! My coop is top notch! Delivery went so smooth and he even help move it after being placed because I changed my mind with where I wanted it after it was placed in my yard! Definitely a fan of jersey chickens- we got our rhode island reds from them years ago and this year decided to save some money and go to tractor supply for more. Big mistake. The Tractor supply employee didn't know anything about the chicks and they were not sexed or separated by breed. Ended up at Jersey chickens again today to add yet a few more and not only were they very knowledgeable on their breeds, egg colors, and anything else I asked but they were very patient with me (I had a lot of questions and kept changing my mind on what I wanted) plus they offer pony and horse rides which my kids loved. Definitely sticking with them as my chick supplier. read more

Stated it will be another week and he says this every week since end of March. Should this coop actually show up next week I will update. DO NOT buy chicks from this place. If you do, please be VERY cautious. We've been keeping chickens for upwards of 15 years and I don't think we've ever had such a horrible experience. We only went here at all because we were looking for silkie chicks and none our usual suppliers had any available at the time. Jersey Chickens was recommended to us by a friend and we thought we would give them a try. HUGE MISTAKE. The moment we drove in we could tell that this place wasn't up to the kind of standards we were used to. Their nice, polished website is incredibly deceiving. It seemed like more of a backyard operation than anything else. The only actual adult around (presumably the owner) was preoccupied with another customer and instead we were "helped" by two young children. We were brought in to see the silkies and were able to peer into the cage a little, although they were mixed in with other chicks, so it was difficult to get a good look at them. The hatchery seemed a bit crowded and dirty, but we didn't notice any warning bells right away. Asking for their ten remaining silkie chicks, we were told that they don't take card (our fault for not reading the info...they do say that on the website) so we had leave to get more cash. By the time we got back, the chicks were already packed up in a box. The chicks were MAYBE 2 days old. On the (15 minute) ride home, we looked into the box and noticed that one of the chicks didn't look good--it had its eyes closed and kept falling over. That's when we started getting worried. We got the chicks settled at home, under a heat lamp, food, water, etc. That first chick died within the hour. Several other chicks starting acting lethargic as well. They weren't eating or drinking much on their own. We tried our best with them, but they started dying one after another in rapid succession. We called Jersey Chickens about it. She kept insisting that we must have been doing something wrong, and it "couldn't be a disease" because her chickens are tested. We have cared for many, many chicks and nothing like this has ever happened to us before. She refused to give us any refund. It wasn't her "policy" (a convenient policy if your chicks are on death's door). She did offer us a store credit, but that is something we will never use because there is no way we would ever buy anything from her again. Now, five days later, only two of the ten are still left alive and I doubt either of them will last another day. We are and have been keeping them in quarantine far, FAR away from our other chickens. We don't know what is wrong with these chicks or what they might have. It is heartbreaking to watch these poor sweet little things suffering like this. This is not normal. We have since talked to another previous customer who had a similar experience. It's not just us. So, PLEASE, if you are thinking about buying chicks from Jersey Chickens, DON'T. And definitely don't keep her chickens near your own flock. I hope our experience can be a warning to others. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars.. whatever you do do NOT buy chickens from this place. They come lethargic and sickly half of mine died within a week. I've had 30 chickens at one point and never had this problem. Absolutely disappointed wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Disgusting that people raise their chickens and sell them this way. This is my first ever Yelp review! I feel like there is a natural bias for negative feedback because people are more likely to be fired up about a bad experience. So given Jersey Chickens only has 2 reviews, I want to offer a well-deserved positive review. Here goes. In April 2018 we bought 4 pullets (roughly 6-7 week old). Many chicken sellers only offer baby chicks, but these guys offer birds in various age groups, which was important to us because we needed to repopulate our small group and didn't want to introduce small chicks. (* Side note* DO NOT underestimate opposums!!) I only met Nicole and one other person working there...both very nice and helpful. Nicole's integration advice was spot on (I had been over-thinking), and they fit in just fine with our remaining 10-12 week olds. All you can really ask of an animal dealer is that they are priced fairly, their animals are healthy, the environment is humane, and that they offer helpful information. Nicole gets straight A's on all counts. And the website offers plenty of interesting and useful breed information. I would definitely go back to Jersey Chickens again. BTW they also have ducks! read more

Nicole and Bruce run a fantastic farm. Their chickens are healthy, clean and beautiful. I also bought a coop that was delivered to my home 50 miles away. My kids love going to Jersey Chickens especially with their new mini-goat saloon enclosure. Their website is also great with updated ages and prices of chickens currently available. I have been going to Jersey Chickens for about three years now. Out of my flock of 22, 17 are Jersey Chickens hatched. I must say they come from a great health line. This past spring I decided to order a coop from them. I couldn't have been more pleased. It was delivered to my property within 8 weeks beautifully built. I shopped around and the price with delivery could not be beat. The kind and super friendly service is what makes the hour drive so worth it. I always bring my talkative son who enjoys the other animals there and getting our spring chicks. I think this coming spring I will go trendy and add some silkies...Jersey Chickens will always be apart of our flock. read more

On March 1, 2014 I purchased 3 cute little Silkie pullets and 6 adorable laying chicks from Jersey Chickens in Jackson, NJ. On that day, Jersey Chickens offered great service in supplying me with what I needed to get started with my new flock of backyard chickens. I knew I would need a permanent home for my quickly growing chickens, so I again contacted the owner of Jersey Chickens and asked for quotes on custom coops. I really liked the look of their buildings and was very happy with the reasonable price he was asking. On March 31, 2014, the owner of Jersey Chickens offered to build a beautiful small coop for me and I mailed a check for our agreed upon deposit of 50% to the owner. My deposit check was cashed by the owner of Jersey Chickens on April 11, 2014. I have given Jersey Chickens a 1-star rating because as of today (01/27/15) I have still not received a coop or a refund of my money. I have contacted the owner via phone, text and email numerous times during the last 9 months and he has told me that he is not interested in fulfilling our original agreement . As a consumer, I have very few options to successfully make him fill my order or refund my money, other than continue to ask. Unfortunately, Jersey Chickens' emails and texts to me have become what seems extremely confrontational and have made me feel threatened, even though I have held up my part of the agreement. When I looked on Jersey Chickens' Facebook page, I saw 2 other people who wrote reviews with the same problem in not getting their building delivered, even though he accepted deposits from a buyer. He has since hidden those reviews from his Facebook page. My chickens were a great purchase from Jersey Chickens, however "Buyer Beware" when it comes to getting a chicken house from them. In my opinion, it's not worth the risk of losing big money if they don't deliver. read more
