The order was confirmed Monday morning, and later that day I received a call stating the mulch would be delivered inside a four-hour window just two days later. Wednesday morning, right in the middle of the predicted delivery window, I received a call stating the pallet was on the sidewalk beside my front steps, followed by a text with a photo of an insane amount of mulch wrapped up like granny's ankles after yoga class. My experience with Mulch Direct was very good. My original order was 5 years ago for a full pallet of mulch. It was delivered quickly with no issues. Fast forward 5 years and my mulch lost a lot of color. This was guaranteed product. I took pictures and sent proof of the issue and the company reacted quickly and took care of the issue. Unless you would like to call phone numbers that no one ever answers and be directed to contact through website to get any type of update, do not order from this business. They state a 5 to 7 business day delivery time from time of order. Completely false as it has been weeks and you will get short answers/runaround if they do decide to reach out with no way to contact back. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with and plenty of other businesses that deliver this type of much with better reviews. Avoid. read more

If you want to be mislead and lied to then this is the perfect place to purchase your mulch from. It took 3 scheduled appointments before they actually delivered the product. The delivery window was between 8-5, no call no show the first 2 times after waiting around all day. Good luck getting anyone to answer your call here, the only way they'll somewhat respond is by email. After I threatened to cancel the order they promised me a discount. It's been 2 weeks since the delivery and still no credit or discount, I've sent them several reminders and they have blatantly ignored. Not to mention that when I did receive the delivery (3 weeks late) that there was rubber mulch scattered all over the floor of the delivery truck. I lost 3-4 bags of mulch but couldn't determine the amount missing until i got to the bottom of the pallet. I'll spend the extra money next time and buy from someone that actually cares. read more

They state you need to have received a sample pack of mulch to be eligible for the so called money back guarantee. Then they make it impossible to get that sample pack. They have a form that says fill out for FREE sample, then when i sent an email they told me I could order one. Ha What a joke. Then when I pointed them to the form (https://www.mulchdirect.com/request-a-free-sample.html) they said Oh ok we will send one out. That was 8 days ago. It is now going on over a month of me trying to get a sample pack. Done. Seems like a dirty way to make the guarantee void for customers. read more

Built a backyard swing set and researched rubber mulch for about a month. I compared prices, shipping, square footage and everything I'm sure you're doing if you're looking at this review. I checked with Costco, local vendors, Home Depot and no one beat Mulch Direct prices. I first ordered the sample pack that was delivered to my SoCal home within 3 days. Picked a color and ordered the 2000 pound pallet which was on my driveway within 6 days of the order. Delivery was a breeze. FedEx called and scheduled a time for delivery and the mulch was laid down over a weed barrier within a couple of hours. I also ordered the mats. If u have swings or a slide the mulch is gonna move and bunch up and the weed barrier underneath will eventually rip. Putting a mat down is the way to go for under a swing and at the end of a slide. read more

I searched all around the internet including Sam's Club & Costco to find mulch direct has the lowest price. Even with the shipping cost of $100, it still came out lower than other places. I placed my order and came about 2 weeks later. This was not bad for me because I had to wait for backyard to be completed. Before I poured the mulch I put down the fabric to prevent weeds/mud from coming through. Product: It came on a pallet with 50 - 40 lbs bags. The carrier dropped the pallet off in my garage, The bags made it easier for me to take to my back yard in a wheel barrel and spread the mulch.I was very impressed with the color and it really pops and does not stain the concrete when wet. I have had the mulch for over 2 months now and it has held up great. I did find one piece of metal in a rubber and it did scratch me but nothing serious. I simply took it out and threw that piece away. I'm sure you are bound to find a couple pieces of metal in the mulch with any company. read more

Just put this rubber mulch in our playground area. Color is rich and easy to spread around. Delivery of the product was easy. Just called since I was ordering 4 pallets, shipment came in and local delivery brought it to my home. Ordered 40 pound bags for easier install. I am looking forward to years of enjoyment read more

I was extremely impressed with the entire process. The best part was the shipping company - they delivered exactly during the time window requested, The driver (earned a nice tip) even manually towed the mulch to the side of the house where we were replacing the old mulch. And the new rubber mulch looks amazing - To think I will not have to run to Lowes every year now to get 50 bags of dirty wet mulch every year sounds awesome! read more

UPDATED REVIEW: They didn't like that we posted a review stating the facts of what happened, so rather than trying to remedy the problem (we called/emailed the owner several times... but he never responded), THEY put a hold on the order, refunded the money to the credit card, and only after all of this did they send an email stating that to continue the order, they would need a money order or certified check in the next 7 days. Oh, yeah, THEY THREATENED US TO TAKE DOWN THE REVIEW BEFORE THEY DID THIS. Um, no. PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. If they wanted an updated, better review, they should have bent over backwards with kindness. Reviews are updated after the action... NOT BEFORE. Along with the facts that 1) they "monitor" all the reviews on their own business website and 2) threaten people who post reviews elsewhere... it's no wonder they have a "5 star review." After the underhandedness of this company, there is no way we are sending them this kind of money ($4160.00) for a product that can't be a protected purchase through a credit card. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We ordered 8 pallets of this rubber playground mulch (16000 lbs) on Tuesday. Can't comment on what the mulch is actually like since we don't have it yet, but the communication of when our mulch will actually be delivered changes. Since this is SO much mulch, we called on Thursday and asked if it would be delivered the next day on Friday... so we would be able to have the time and manpower on hand that we need to get it moved to where it belongs. After a call to the warehouse, the customer service agent told us that, yes, it would be delivered (we are only 20 minutes south of the warehouse). We were told that we would get a phone call/email with the time that it would be delivered. Fast forward to today. Still hadn't heard/received anything about a time so made a call to find out what's up. We were told that actually it's NOT infact coming today. We were then told that since the instructions said to deliver by Friday or to wait a week for delivery that THEY decided to wait a week. WHY, WHEN WE SPECIFICALLY CALLED ABOUT THE DELIVERY, WERE WE TOLD IT WOULD BE COMING TODAY-FRIDAY???? So irritated that we could plan for this delivery, with all the extra help we need, just to be given the run around and a lame "sorry." It appears that the communication between departments and then on to customers is very poor. We only hope that we do in fact eventually get the mulch and that we don't have to deal with more incompetence and run-around. read more

This is the worst customer service I have ever recieved from a business. I called to cancel an order that was shipped. I was willing to pay for the return freight for the product. The order was for $374 and they want me to pay $276.10 to have it returned. Freight cost BOTH ways and a 15% restocking fee. I informed them that i was going to be purchaseing $1,300 more of mulch and he told me that doesn't matter. I would never use this company again as they apparently do not care about their customers. I then looked at the website under the borders that i bought and it stated that to return you would pay the return freight plus 15 restocking fee. Product is great, shipped from Fl., but sat in L.A.for 1 week before shipping to Fresno, took some calls but called Mulch Direct and received overnight, between the green grass & red mulch the contrast is awsome. read more

Extremely poor customer service, We would not use this company again. We were told our mulch would be delivered in 5 business days. There's was zero communication telling us otherwise, after over a week I had to call and reach out by email. A few weeks later when our mulch finally did arrive (setting back other landscaping projects) it was delivered in a back of a semi with a pallet jack. The driver got out and told my husband if he couldn't get it off the truck he would be bringing it back and having it shipped back a different way. My husband had to spend a half hour helping to get the 1.5 pallets of mulch off the semi. The extremely large pallet was then left in the road at the end of the drive way for my husband to deal with. When I called mulch direct to tell them they were not using the appropriate shipping for how heavy their product was they stated it was fine and that we had a "lazy" delivery man. It would have been impossible for one man to move that size pallet with a pallet jack. Again mulch direct did nothing to right their wrong or attempt to make us as the customers happy.
