A big beautiful plant oasis and home to just about anything you could think of or need when it comes to your garden. I stopped in once at the beginning of the season when I decided I wanted my own little patio garden. I was on the hunt for a very specific size of coconut liner and finally found it here - already a big win. On top of the hanging basket liner, I found a few plants flowers to add to my already found haul and some veggie and herb plants as well. The space is massive, so come when you have some time to bop around and take it all in. The plants were all on the more expensive side, so I didn't go too crazy, but we are already a few months in and everything is thriving and growing very well. I stopped by on a very rainy Saturday at the start of the summer and even with the downpour, it was busy. The parking lot was a bit hectic, but I can't imagine what it looks like on a sunny day! Clearly a favorite for locals and I see why. When I do find myself in the area and in need of new plants (always) I'll make Barlow's one of my stops. read more

Lots of selection. Most products were nicely watered and kept very well. Nice variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers.

I stopped at Barlow to check out their selection coming home from the shore. Not being in the market for anything specially I just meandered around the place to see what they had. I was impressed by their selection of pots and ended up getting several for things we needed to report at home. They had a good selection of plants and I picked up a few things my wife had wanted that they had. Most of everything did well. But the lavender I got died and the milkweed is struggling along. But I think that is more due to our weather than the store. Their inside selection of tropical plants is pretty big. They had some large plants too which I didn't know were for sale but they were cool to just see. I was looking for a specific pot for a crawling philodendron and they were able to help me find a pot that worked perfectly for what I needed. (an oblong pot) They also had a great selection of organic sprays and fertilizers which I appreciated All in all I am glad I stopped here and Im sure I'll stop by more when I have more garden needs. read more

Not sure how this shop has been around so long. Each year, it's surprising to see how expensive their plants get. But, after being sold habaneros plants with an invisible blight this spring, I went back to inquire about it. I was immediately asked if I was confusing the Barlow's with another shop. After explaining that I didn't just escape from a nursing home, she then asked how long have I been growing vegetables, because the problem could not possibly be them. I would sum up the service at Barlow's to be: arrogant, unprofessional, unhelpful, and a greedy vibe. read more

I used to work in Belmar and I first heard of Barlow's from locals. It's a beautiful garden shop with more than just plants. They have decorations for your home and other plant accessories. Of course, other plants selection is amazing. But I always go here for the porch harvest kit. There's nothing quite like it near me so I make the 50 minute trip and go every year. It always adds a beautiful touch to my porch and brightens up my fall season. You can order online or place an order over the phone and just pick up if you don't feel like shopping around for your items. I highly recommend coming out here! read more

In this crazy climate and post Covid era, hard to find nurseries with fresh stock and different plants. This place has trees and perennials which are different from those at other nurseries. Free and beautiful stock that will add color to your gardens. read more

I am pleased to report that the owner of Barlow's responded to my review in a very kind and caring manner. I sincerely appreciate that my comments were reviewed and taken seriously. May 2 update: we just attempted our spring refresh but were promptly informed that there are "no dogs allowed" outside at Barlow's?! Odd since we were just there Wednesday and our dog was given one of Rainey's biscuits. Also nothing posted on any signs... once again treated badly by the staff and our business turned away. read more

Update: the business owner responded on the next business day to 100% remedy the issue. I will absolutely give Barlow's another chance given their prompt and overwhelmingly impressive response. During these times I feel it's especially important to support small, family owned businesses and I look forward to visiting Barlow's in the near future. I ordered a couple of "fall front porch packages" for curbside pickup and were grateful they were offering such a seamless, no contact way to pick up things. Unfortunately, when we got there to pick up our items, the quality of everything was sub-par. The mums and pumpkins are poor quality and not worth the $100.00 we spent. I am impressed with their no contact delivery, but the quality of the items was not good and there wasn't anything we could do about it when picking them up. read more

After endless meetings with a variety of landscapers, I was just not satisfied with their proposals. Ultimately, each one lost patience with me because I simply could not put my trust in them even though I am sure they believed they were doing what was best for me and my property. Year after year, I did nothing. I just could not find the perfect fit - and the process was frustrating. Until, that is, I got the bright idea to call Barlow's landscape division. Last February, I met with Marc from Barlow's and he listened intently as I explained my landscaping dream to him. Then he came up with a plan, incorporating my thoughts with his expert ideas. For the first time, I felt like I was in the right hands. I can't say enough good things about Marc! He always took his time with me, answered all my questions, always being very responsive to my ideas and suggestions. Even on the day of the installation he welcomed the opportunity to work with me to tweak things. On the big day, Marc and his energetic crew arrived early. The landscaping layout was explained to me and I left for work nervously anticipating the transformation. When I arrived home at 5:30pm, I turned down my street and ......... I was utterly amazed at what I saw before my eyes. My long-drab property was now a lush beautiful garden! The Barlow's crew was still on the job and my neighbors informed me that they had been tirelessly working at it all day long. Chris took the time to explain all the plants to me. I am delighted to report that Barlow's involvement does not end with the installation. I still see Marc coming by a few times a week to check on everything and making sure the plants and trees are thriving. I sincerely doubt I would get this kind of thorough follow-up with just anyone. I am forever grateful that I made the phone call to Barlows in late February. Marc was the perfect fit and I am grateful that he brought my vision to life. Going to Barlow's is a treat, all year long. I believe it is a family owned business handed down through generations which would explain why it is run so well. The staff is consistent so it's nice to see familiar faces whenever I go and they all have a vast amount of knowledge. Well worth the little bit more you may pay. read more

I was looking online for annual flowers and found Barlow's. It caught my attention how easy it was to go thru the web site, with beautiful photos, clear descriptions of the flowers, suggestions e guidelines for when and where to plant them. I chose my flowers to have it delivered and to my big surprise, it was delivered on the same day! The flowers look healthy, brilliant colors, shiny green leaves, good sizes, ready to be planted! I made a comment to the young man who made the delivery how surprised I was to have it delivered so quickly, and he proudly replied "We try to deliver to our costumers as fast as possible!" That's the American way, work with pride, value your customers! From now on, Barlow's will be my source of annuals, shrubs, perennials and bushes. read more

We love this nursery! We first discovered it when we saw black flowers on Instagram. We went there and in the height of covid19, their team was safe, professional and very helpful. They helped us pick an amazing fig tree for the interior and then guided us through the planters for the outside of our new home. They planted and delivered the new planters and exterior plants to the new house! They gave a safe, white glove service and delivered the planters to the second floor balcony and continued to service us by answering our questions so the plants will flourish. Everyone that sees the plants from them say that they love them. Some people tell us that they bought similar plants at Home Depot or lowe's but their plants are half the size. (I guess you get what you pay for). Value and service are incredible if you add up all the time spend to create the green world we live in. It is worth the investment. I recommend the membership. $50 but gives full year of 15% discount. Thank you Barlow's!! read more

Terrible experience with the owner Stephen Barlow (son) of Barlows this past week. Irresponsible business practices and communication. I stopped by and asked to speak with him personally and after I agreed to wait as long as needed he sent over an employee to tell me he would not speak with me. It's hard to believe that someone so lacking in professionalism continues to stay in business. As for the staff member I did speak to, she was very professional and knowledgeable from what I gathered. We will not be ordering our entire new landscaping needs from Barlows as a result. read more

The staff is super knowledgeable about their plants and can even help you design a garden space based on your light/soil conditions. Unfortunately not the greatest experience with them helping on the little things...sent $75 in mums and a decorative flag. I went back later in the day to ask for a little rubber stopper so the flag won't fly away. The cashier Kim couldn't be bothered and there was no way to sell me one....really? I just blew $75 in the store and you can't see if there is a two cent item lying around ...very disappointing from a neighbor customer. read more

We always stop at Barlow's when we are down the shore. This garden center grows a lot of their own flowers and plants and always has staff that can give you advice (if you have a grey thumb like me, you need that). They also have a gift shop and great containers (just got an awesome terrarium). Right now they are all decked out for Christmas and my pocketbook was practically empty when I left :) read more

I love Barlows. Buy all my summer and fall plants from them. Today I bought fresh roping and am so disappointed. Cheaply and sparsely put together. Which made it become all tangled. Had to double it up to make it look presentable. And it was not cheap!!! read more

We've been clients of Barlow's for the past few years having moved to Monmouth Country in 2015. Recently we ordered several plants for "curb side" pick up. We got the order home and noticed that one of the plants purchased had obviously had not faired so well during a recent snap of cold weather. We called Barlow's to advise of what happened and was treated with the highest possible level of respect and caring. Literally, within 30 minutes of the call the purchase price for the affect honeysuckle was refunded to our account and we were even given tips to try and resurrect the plant in question....which, in essence, we got for free. In this day and age of apathy, indifference and customer neglect it is a breath of fresh air to have received such excellent customer service and we will be clients for many years to come. Integrity cannot be learned, it is a mind set. You get what you pay for and Barlow's is top shelf. read more

Their organic veggie plants and flowers are amazing, and thrive when you get them home(unlike many of the cheaper places)the staff is courteous, knowledgeable and cheerful... it's as if they truly love their work! Filled out landscaping form someone left message stating if I'm within 10 mile radius they will work with me. I am 9.5 miles away so I called back spoke to another person and she stated that they would not work with me. I never found on website about mileage being an issue; but apparently it is. I even drive there myself was impressed with organization of nursery and spoke with someone who told me to fill out landscaping form and was never told about this 10 mile radius which I happen to be under. read more
