We were infested with lantern flies around the perimeter of our house. When I researched the tree on our property, turned out it was a "tree of heaven" which is actually a weed and very invasive. They excrete sticky sap and have a peanut butter smell that attracts bugs. It is the number one tree that lantern flies love and lay eggs on (as shown in first picture). I called a tree company immediately. They came to the house and quoted me a ridiculous price for doing a flush cut to this tree and trimming our beautiful maple in the backyard. I called Atlantic Tree Experts, and John came out to do the estimate on the same items and really gave us a wonderful package with grinding the stumps down on top of it, and it was about $1100 less than the previous guy. The team got to work as I watched from the window. They were so impressive and fast! Everything was done in about 20-30 minutes. They cleaned up after themselves and even removed a big pile of wood that was in my yard, complimentary. I found Atlantic cutting down a huge tree on my block. I watched in amazement how their team worked together to bring that tree down, grind it up and haul it away in about 30 minutes. I had some issues with trees in my back yard neighbors property that for years shaded my property and vegetable garden. This neighbor put in a pool the year before and told me they wanted to get rid of all of her ugly trees, but nothing was done. So this year I reached out to them again to find out if they were going to cut them down and was told I could do it if I wanted. So a bit disappointed that they weren't going to cut down their trees, I got their O.K. to cut down the trees overshadowing my property of course at my own cost. There were two small trees and a huge one the shed their leaves on my yard each year, so I decided to hire Atlantic to cut them down and to cut the larger trees branches back. It cost me $600 but it was worth it. They came with their crew of I think 6 men, a huge tree grinder, and in about a half hour the two smaller trees on the neighbors property was down and all the large branches on the giant Oak tree was also down. They cleaned up all the branches and leaves from my property, blew the sawdust off the lawn and completed the job perfectly. On a side note, the neighbor had me pay to cut them down and then hired a couple of freelance guys to cut her other trees down. Those freelance workers left all the cut pieces on their property and they are still there. You get what you pay for...I was very happy with Atlantic and would recommend them highly. I had a great experience with Atlantic and found them to be very professional and reliable. I called and had John come out to give me an estimate and decided to get the work done a few weeks later.. we hired the crew for the day.. it was the best value out there.. they got so much done.. took down three trees.. and trimmed so many huge branches from all of the trees closest to my house and garage. The girl who answered the phone was exceptionally rude. She proceeded to insult me to her friends before even hanging up on me. Their service was terrible and incomplete. They did not seem to understand what I needed done and left some trees untouched instead of pruning them. I had to call in a second company to complete the job. I hired Atlantic tree service at Holmdel to remove 3 trees. They did a good job but John changed his mind about the price after job was done. He left me a quote but I called him and on the phone he agreed on lower price then he denied it and insisted on price he wrote on the estimate. Of course, I have no proof so, I paid the price he wrote on estimate. Make sure you tape the phone call or ask him to text you with the agreed price. read more

Chris and his crew spent one afternoon removing our 50 Ft Oak tree. All 5 gentlemen were professional, methodical and did everything to our satisfaction. The crew cleaned up afterwards and we could not be happier. The price was very competitive and though we were sad to remove the tree it was getting less healthy - and we are compensated with a sun drenched kitchen now. read more

I hired them to remove 3 stumps after the tornado. They only removed pieces of the stump and left a mess behind with roots and large pieces of the stump all over the yard which they tore up. Would never use them again. read more

They are good, quick, and low priced. Only complaint I have is they didn't completely grind out all of the tree stumps so make sure they shred them all up before they leave. read more

I used Atlantic Tree Service for Hurricane Sandy damage. They arrived on the day scheduled, finished the job on time and for the amount charged. I thought that I could use some leftover cherry tree remains next season in the fireplace and they sectioned that for me. When I noticed how big some of the pieces were (the tree looked a lot smaller when vertical), a crew was dispatched to remove the extremely large sections and they stacked up the wood that is suitable for the fireplace...at no extra charge. Their crew was polite and very fast. It is obvious that they have been in each others company a lot since October 29th. Surely worthy of a recommendation. I would use them again but hopefully, not in response to a Hurricane Sandy type of incident. read more

Unprofessional. Paperwork was NOT 100% accurate. When the team showed up and explained what they can do was different from what the estimator originally explained to me. When I asked the workers I need to speak to the person in charge to make sure they can do what I needed.. they stopped and informed me the person in charge will be there in a few min. They started packing up and I asked them please not to leave until I speak the person in charge. They left without telling me. I called the main number for the 3rd time and someone finally picked up. The person on the phone had very poor customer service skills. I told her that I did not want them to leave and she informed me they were not coming back and and she told me the boss would call me.. Professional, friendly, can-do attitude. Checked with me, as they were pruning the crabapple trees, to make sure that I was happy with the work they had done. Fast: they were done in an hour. Competitive price: compared to two other quotes that I gotten. Cleaned and picked up all of the debris. They were careful not to damage the lawn. read more
