Love the chicken pizza they do it so well!! Been going there since I was a young kid!!

First time in years, and it hasn't changed. Small, cozy, simple, friendly. And good pizza. Kind of different: very thin crust, tiny bits of mushroom and sausage if you get those. We got a pepp, a pepp/sausage/mushroom (PMS,) and a cheese. The kids were torn about the cheese- it had oregano and maybe garlic on top, and they were not fully on board with that. Plain cheese would be best for them. Don't know if they have cheesy bread, or anything besides pizza- didn't bother to ask, don't see a website or any pictures of their menu online. They might have subs or a few other things, but I wouldn't know. Parking is worse than it used to be, but there were spots out front on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy inside. I just picked up, and it was hot and ready when they said it would be. It's not amazing, but it's good, and cheap, and handy. And nostalgic. read more

The pizza was fabulous! The people were amazing. As soon as we arrive, they said they apologized for how loud it was in there. But everybody was celebrating in memory of a friend that they had recently lost. I asked if they needed us to leave since they were all celebrating her and they immediately said oh absolutely not, we would love for you to stay and join us. I don't know if it's because I'm an old fat man who likes beer joints and grew up in the country or if it really is the fact that Jerry's on Paint is beside the mill and has the best pizza in the world and some really cold beer... I'm a fan and extroverted supporter of and adamantly in constant need of Jerry's Pizza from Jerry's on Paint. This Jerry's is the original. I'm not referring to Jerry's on Western Avenue, ok. I moved to Chillicothe in 1983 to teach and became acquainted with Jerry's on Paint Street immediately. I cannot tell you anything about the sauce; whether it's made in-house comes out of a can, I can tell you nothing. I can use a lot of adjectives and describe the pizza and all of the toppings that they have available. My description of toppings would discuss how they are chopped in fine little tiny pieces that attempt to roll off as you go to pick up a piece of pizza out of the box. The pizza is cut into strips not in the pie shapes. Jerry's on Paint is small and is always always packed to the brim and once you step inside you will know exactly why. If you are not from Ross County, you may need to ask questions about the history of Jerry's on Paint. If you're asking me questions about Jerry's, you will want to delve into the history of the paper mill right across the street. The two go together just like bread and butter, Johnny and June and Bert and Ernie. I drive from Columbus back to Chillicothe regularly just to pick up pizza at Jerry's on Paint. I told you I'm a big boy so I always get more than one to bring home because there are only two sizes, medium and large, and neither are huge so one is always gone as it sits in the passenger seat of the truck by the time I arrive back home in Columbus. On the bar-type food that they have available, I think you can make a meal out of that section of the menu. Give it a try and take a drive into Ross County, downtown Chillicothe, grab Jerry's and experience downtown Chillicothe. You'll be glad you did trust me. People from all over Jackson, Pike and Scioto counties are hanging at Jerry's. read more

This Jerry's is definitely a dive bar type of atmosphere, and though my large party had a room in the back, the bar and front seating is what it's famous for. There pizza is unique in that whatever toppings or speciality pizza you order, all the ingredients are finely chopped -- kinda minced texture. The pizza is crispy and they incorporate the sauce with the dough and toppings very well! There's a nice balance of cheese, toppings, and flavor! Be careful though, while the outer ring is crispy and fresh, as you go towards the center, it does get a bit softer (it's still cooked, just not as crispy). They have a unique way of curing the pizza, skinny rectangles! Also, this location is a dive experience, so the decor and cleanileoss is a bit more danky/less polished. They do have another location in the area if you're looking die that family friendly environment! Another note: the large is just $1 more than the medium. The pizza of my childhood. I grew up on this pizza. I looked forward to our bi-weekly adventure to Chillicothe, Ohio to eat pizza with my brother and parents. The set up is an old bar, complete with old timey booths and consistent regulars. The pizza is to die for. Something changed. I've been eating Jerry's pizza for 50 years and it was always consistently different from others. Now, the toppings are different (at least, the mushrooms), the sauce seems different and it was served slightly baked versus browned. We craved the delicious sauce, spicy pepperoni, and distinctive crust of the Jerry's pizza we enjoyed 20+ years ago, so when we found ourselves in Chillicothe today, we traveled to Paint St, ready to rejoice! Utter disappointment is the most accurate phrase I can use to summarize our experience. Adjectives to use are: bland, uninspired, plain vanilla, tasteless, generic crust, and a cheesy disaster. This was a completely changed rendition of what was a local favorite! Can't understand why someone felt the need to ruin a successful offering. We should have walked out and maybe headed down to Cardo's in Waverly, but instead elected to see and taste this iteration of pizza! Sadly, We shall never darken Jerry's doorway again. This is the place to go to in Chillicothe for pizza. I love the dive-bar charm of this place. Had a large pep & sausage pizza and the sauce was perfect as the crust was nice & thin. I like the way it's cut too simiar to Donatos. Service can be slow at times so it's perfect for watching a ball game on their big screens. read more

I grew up near Massieville, lived there from 1963-1985. Have lived in Florida east of Tampa for the past 34 years. Still return to Chillicothe at least once a year. Usually as we pass through Waverly I call that old familiar # 813-773-1200. I have it memorized. Some say the taste of the pizza has changed over the years. The only reason I know if the taste has changed is because the ladies in the kitchen making the pizza can no longer smoke while making the pizza. Great food for not a lot of cheddar. They have Killian's on tap. Friendly staff and very cozy. The Pizza is awesome, we get it once a week. They have a pretty large menu considering they are a pizza pub. Patio is phenomenal during the spring summer and early fall, live music on the weekends is a plus. read more

They advertise that they have the best pizza in Chillicothe. They are right! Of course, you need to go to this location. It must be the old pizza ovens at this location that make the pizza taste so good. The pizzas are a little smaller than what you may be used to. There were 3 of us and we ordered 2 medium pizzas. The potential of Jerry's inside my stomach has at times been my only reason for treking down to Chillicothe...and my family lives there. I've been going here since I was wearing diapers. It was a dive bar but in recent years they have replaced two of the four lightbulbs in the establishment and added some bigger TV's which has brightened the place up signifigantly. The beer is cheap and the pizza, oh my lord the pizza! A few word that come to mind: Thin Crispy Just enough cheese Amazing They also have a mango topping option which I've been dying to try for years but no one will venture there with me. You can feed an entire family for under 20 bucks and still have some leftover for the oven the next day; which is even more amazing I might add. Okay, so I've eaten pizza all over the place. (I'm kind of obsessed with it, I've sought out some of the highest rated places in New England, the cradle of American pizza) I've eaten 'za from slice joints, italian restaurants, bars, chains, mom and pop places, gas stations, grocery stores, and even (shudder) burger joints. When I find new pizza, I generally can't rest until I've tried it. In all seriousness, I have NEVER had any pizza even remotely like Jerry's. I had the deluxe (I forget exactly what they called it), and the flavor was absolutely unique. Apparently, the main cheese they use is swiss, with cheddar on the crust, something certainly out of the ordinary for standard pizza. They use liberal amounts of oregano and and some other herb I can't quite put my finger on. The crust is wonderfully crunchy and crisp, and is enhanced by the traditional bar pizza strips it is cut into. The flavor is really hard to describe. I recommend you just try it, they prices are very reasonable, and it stays good even if you take it out. (It's a 20 minute drive from Jerry's to where I live, and the pizza is still good) The lack of ambiance is extreme, Jerry's is really a bar that happens to serve pizza. However, if you choose to stay, the beer is cheap and plentiful ($2 for a bottle of PBR if memory serves). If you're in Chillicothe, try Jerry's. It's an unmistakable slice of what Chillicothe is like, with completely unique pizza to boot. read more

Yay! I'm a fan. That is what it said when I gave Jerry's a 4 Star rating. I would say that is correct. Chillicothe is only a 50 minute drive from my hometown and I went to Jerry's last night with my sister and a couple of other friends. I have some kind of unique history with Jerry's. My parents went there when they were dating about 35 years ago. I went there on a date with my then-boyfriend about 10 years ago. Now I go back with the desire to have local flavor to write about. When we pulled up, we noticed that the garage across the street hadc a full parking lot at 9 pm on a Saturday night. We parked there and trotted across the street. Upon going into the older building we see the bar. Now, I am a fan of local bars. Jukebox, old barstools, a TV-the perfect bar. I don't need disco lights and a stage for a bad local band to complete my drinking experience. The small place was about packed and we set out for the seating in the middle room of the 'deep' building. The nice waitress finally came over and took our drink orders and we purused the menu. We ordered mozz sticks and mushrooms and a "large" pizza. When the apps came, we asked for plates and silverware. The lady told us that they were out of plates. Out of plates? I gotta be honest. In am a little picky about having a plate and some silverware! I don't as a rule like to eat with my fingers. She said she would go back to the kitchen and try to put a rush on some plates. We started in on the apps because we were hungry!!! We had all kinda starved for the outing. Might have been a mistake. She brought out our pizza. Large? Oh boy. It was about a 12". FOR A LARGE? This needs to be noted on the menu. And fast. If we would have known...we would have gotten two! But lets talk about that pizza...it was...delicious. The crust...oh the crust. It is what homegrown pizza should be. Thin...crisp...a buttery golden color...I strive for the texture when I make homemade pizza. The toppings were in the perfect quantity. Not too much cheese...and I know...some people think that there is no such thing as enough cheese but I think you can go overboard with cheese and it is a bad thing. I don't even order "extra cheese" anymore. We ordered a pepperoni with half with mushrooms. The canned mushrooms were minced and I like that. They don't fall off as much and you don't have to bite through a huge piece of schroom. Although other reviews have sighted an obscure cheese mixture, I didn't recognize anything out of the ordinary cheese-wise. On another trip I will ask the waitress, but as shocked as we were with the tiny pie,it slipped my mind. BOIL IT DOWN- fantastic pizza. thin crispy crust, adequite toppings. Decieving description on the menu (a large is by no means large!) the large is about enough for a couple...but not more than three will be sated. Cheap, strong drinks, good waitstaff-they will split the bill any way you want. Go. But don't expect fancy surroundings or high-brow snooty gourmet food. Down home pizza. read more

I had a freshly chopped iceberg lettuce salad, with just the right amount of cheese a diced tomato, and croutons, The Italian Dressing was well balanced, not too oily. Had a Portsmouth Ohio long neck beer, sampled a Pepperoni, Cheese, and a Sausage Mushroom., The crust is thin crispy, the sauce and toppings are good , but the cheese flavor sings out above the other flavors. In my opinion not in a bad way, it is unique....... Some say they use Swiss cheese I am not convinced , I am guessing aged Provolone is in the blend All in all the place is funky, the staff friendly, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. I've never been inside Jerry's Pizza, but I've had their pizza at home. I've heard Jerry's Pizza is really a bar (their pizza was a bar food offering that gave them their name--and it is probably what kept them going). The pizza isn't New York style. It is more like snack pizza--thin crust with tiny square pieces. It is most similar in style to Donato's, but Jerry's Pizza is better than that. The pizza is very tasty, and it has a good sauce. They mince up the toppings (like mushrooms) very finely, which actually makes it a lot easier to eat because you don't have toppings falling all over the place. But I think the real differentiator is the cheese. They are not using just mozzarella. I'm not sure what the other cheese they are using is, but it tastes pretty darn good. Another note is that the pizza has changed slightly over the years, and it feels like they are making improvements without getting away from what makes the pizza unique and great in the first place. read more

I'll join the growing chorus here and say that Jerry's is a unique pizza. I can't quite put my finger on what's different about it, but I've certainly never had another pizza like it. That said, Jerry's is also as good as any other pizza I've ever had. The crust is thin and crisp, but almost buttery and flaky. I think it's really the crust that sets Jerry's apart. I grew up eating thicker crust pizzas in North East Ohio. I've spent a good chunk of my last 10 years in Central Ohio convinced that thinner crusts were inherently inferior. Jerry's may have finally dispelled me from that notion. The rest of the pizza was well done, though, too. The cheese was lightly applied (which is a plus in my book) and not at all greasy. The toppings were generous and seemed to be pretty good quality. This being the only pizza I've ever had in Chillicothe, I can't speak to whether or not it's the best pizza in town but it's hard to imagine it's not. If there's better pizza in Chillicothe I just might have to move there. read more

I have dreams about this place. Best pizza ever, and I'm not just saying that as a euphemism. I'm being completely serious. I have family in Chillicothe, so I try to eat here every time I visit. It is a good old fashioned small-town street-corner bar where you can enjoy a beer and feast on their fabulous thin crust pizza. Or two pizzas, nobody's judging you. These pizzas are so good that I've taken one to go just to eat it in the car on the way home. Yes, it really is that good. I have been a customer for 60+ Years! I ordered 2 two item large pizzas and without any doubt, the worst pizza I have had to date. This one came from Paint Street, and I assure you Harvey Howison and wife Lil are turning over in their graves with the current state of a Chillicothe Landmark restaurant! The last several orders I have picked up have been hit and miss as far as quality! I do not see me ever going back! Wish I had better news! Sad. read more

Many others cite that Jerrys is a Chillicothe landmark and I have to agree. But to get the best Jerrys pizza you have to eat it there so it is hot and fresh. My mom rarely wants to eat anywhere downtown so Jerrys is truly remarkable to get her to go there for their pizza. read more

Jerry's Pizza is not a pizzeria but a bar that serves pizza as a bar food. To appreciate the pizza one must be half-lit. We (wife and I) ordered one ham pizza and one chicken and mushroom pizza. The ingredients for both did not taste fresh. In fact, the mushrooms were canned and the chicken had a refrigerator taste. The crust was thin and the outer edge wasn't as good as other pizza crusts. I'm giving Jerry's Pizza 2 stars because it was edible but I would not recommend eating there unless you are drinking there. read more

We had home fried chips and fried mac and cheese. Both were pretty good. We then ordered the deluxe pizza. It came out and for the first piece, was pretty good. Nice and crisp with a pretty good flavor. My friend didn't share my enthusiasm for her first slice. But the second piece started getting soggy with soaked in grease. We ordered two pizzas and when them came out they were on two different sized plates. When we got the bill, she had taken the smaller plate away and we asked if maybe we got a medium. She said that since the pizzas are hand tossed, the are sometimes smaller or larger. However you would think if they turned out a pizza that fit on a medium plate, we might be charged for a medium pizza. My recommendations are to stick with the pizzas with fewer toppings and go for the chips and fried mac and cheese. read more
