Insanely rude when talking over the phone trying to get my car in for a repair. Never trying to get help from Jerry's again.

I had a few problems with my car. Brian took care of everything and even saved me some money. I would highly recommend this garage.

And it wasn't drivable. Anthony was willing and able to get us right in (within 30 minutes of calling him). He ordered the parts that afternoon and had our van fixed in less than two days. The cost was reasonable and was what I expected (having done this repair myself on other cars). He was conscientious and professional, and his communication was outstanding. He provided regular updates each step of the process so I was never wondering what was happening. He has recently taken over this business so the older reviews are not relevant. I would highly recommend M&M Service, and Anthony, for your repair needs.

The car starts shuddering and doesn't want to leave second gear. The engine may or may not turn over. The nearest service station is 10 miles away, down a winding road with narrow shoulders and a speed limit of 25 mph, without the rain pouring down. Baby decides now is also a great time to start crying and get a cold. Welcome to my experience this past September weekend. What should have been a restful communion with the outdoors in Northern Michigan turned into a harrowing, stressful time. After AAA towed my car to dry out at the hotel, and I left my husband to comfort the baby, I took my limping vehicle into town in search of anyone who might diagnose the OED 2 code. I didn't have the handheld reader with me and I direly needed to know whether my car's check engine light was the result of something minor -- say, a misfiring piston -- or something serious to justify staying another night in town. I came upon M&M Services after driving slowly to get an oil change elsewhere. Their Open sign glowed like a beacon. I pulled in to find a young man in the office, one bay occupied with the garage door down, and their hours boldly displaying they were open for another hour yet. Prayers for resolution answered? I explained my situation and asked if he could hook my car up to a OED reader. Advanced Auto Parts, Napa, Carquest, and other car parts stores with complementary reader services all shut an hour and a half before. There wasn't a dealership in Petoskey or Harbour Springs to help, and I couldn't trust taking the car an hour away into Traverse City. M&M had every ability to help ease my mind. "Are you from around here?" asked the kid. "No, I'm on vacation. We drove up. I am in a tight situation," I said. I should have shut my trap and nodded. "Can't help you." What?! You're open. You have a mechanic. I am not asking for anything untoward, I could hook the cable up to the OED2 port myself for all it mattered. He gave me the most uncaring look and went back to his desk, staring off into space. You are an auto shop. You are open. There are no other customers and I showed up an hour before the stated closing time. No one was working on a vehicle. It was a very simple request I was willing to pay for, if only to get a better idea of the diagnostic code. It turned out to be Cylinder 1 misfiring due to water getting into it, a simple fix by removing the spark plug. I found that out at O'Reilly's in Detroit -- something that took literally about 8 seconds to read. The non-existent customer service during a small crisis was disgusting.

I was not use to a mechanic having to raise cost for new parts without running it by the customer on the phone first. Be aware of the digital estimate because you will sign on a base estimate of say $1220 and the estimate will update and make it look as if that was the starting price you signed at . This way the final quote will reflect say $3220 and when you look back at the estimate it will look as if you approved them to start at the price of $3000. This way when you get the bill for it and are sticker shocked you will not have a reference point of your starting estimate of $1220. Now I realize that mechanics have to raise cost as they go based on the necessary fixes, but they should always talk with the customer before moving ahead with them and also make an effort to give a quote cap idea of max price so there clients can know if it's something they can afford. Again, I am not saying their work is bad, because physically they did a good job, but when I tried to reach out by phone, no calls were returned. Price kept moving up and I had no idea why, just a growing estimate from the Tek Metric website. So in summary if you don't care about growing cost without conformation then go right ahead. If you however believe in more transparency with how you are spending you money then this is not the place.
