I lucked out with reservations on OpenTable last minute when they released a bunch of counter availability. Which is crazy since it's so hard to get a reservation that isn't at 9:45pm. My only concern was that we might be seated in front of the fire stove where the majority of the cooking is done because it can get hot and coupled with the the summer weather, I was worried about sweating lol. Luckily, we were seated at the opposite end and had the best view and enjoyed watching the chefs prep our meal. They don't serve cocktails here, just wine, and we started with two glasses of bubbly, which were delicious! However, when we tried to transition to the other wines available by the glass, none of them tasted that great and almost tasted too acidic or maybe had too many tanins for my liking. As a result, we reverted back to the sparkling wine. However, I do want to take a moment to express how amazing our server was because he was kind enough to let us sample all the reds by the glass before we committed to a glass. Also, I appreciated that he didn't chastise us when we didn't end up liking any of them. However, I absolutely love the food here! The one thing that you must get is the CORNBREAD! It's nothing like you've ever had before and is their signature dish. It's comforting, it's buttery and feels like home. I've also gotten the Pork and Green Chili Stew which is amazing (think Chile Verde). I've also tried their Ribeye, and for the price, I'm not sure that it's my favorite item on the menu. For my most recent visit, we ordered the following: Bluefin Tuna Toast - This was light and refreshing, but also filling since it sits on a slice of bread. This was enjoyable but I preferred the Baby Albacore. Baby Albacore - This is such a small dish and I think it only has six slices of fish, but it has so much depth of flavor and so much texture with the crispy shallots that we were tempted to order another one! This is a beautifully executed dish. And the best part was that we got to watch it being prepared in front of us. Mushroom Crusted Pork Chop - I had been reading that this was such an amazing dish, so I made sure to try it this time around! It did not disappoint! It was incredibly flavorful and rich. My boyfriend, who is not a fan of pork really enjoyed this dish. Sliced market tomatoes - this is a no-frills side dish, but felt that this was a perfect balance as something fresh and light against the rich and fattiness of the pork chop. I was worried that this would not be enough food for the two of us since I have a big appetite, but suffice to say I was very satisfied! The service is here is outstanding! I wish I got the name of my server, but he reminded me of Teddy Swims! He was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating! It was the best service I've had in a while! As for the food, our favorites were the cornbread, albacore, and the pork chile stew with the house made tortillas. We also liked the sticky pudding but as it is a bit sweet already, I would opt out of the extra syrup they add on it in front of you. Service was great too, everyone was super attentive. I love that the staff's uniform seemed to be graphic tees of their choosing. Such a fun little detail that added to the restaurant's personality. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and the experience, especially getting a front-row seat to all the kitchen action but personally didn't think it lived up to all the hype.

They bear the same name, menu, shirts, decor, etc. This gives the consumer the impression that these are absolutely related businesses that share ownership/management. A family member knew I loved the Morrison, and bought a $100 gift certificate from the Los Feliz location and gave it to me as a birthday gift. That location shut down a few weeks later, so I took it the gift certificate to the Burbank location. After attempting to use it after ordering a ton of food and drink, they straight up told me they are not associated with the other location whatsoever and they would not honor the gift certificate. Whether that's the truth or not (I don't believe them) you have a BRAND TO PROTECT. This is what sharing a brand is! To make the cognizant decision not to honor this gift certificate is theft! I will NEVER return to a business that bears the Morrison name ever again. You have lost a customer for life. I now implore all Yelpers to boycott this business for shady business practices. They literally took the $100 and disappeared! Where's my $100 Morrison?

Either the salad should be tossed with the dressing or we should have a bigger bowl? This might just sound nit-picky, so I'll just leave it at that. 5. We ordered one of everything on the late night menu, and we were told that the tuna was sold out. No problem. When the food came out, we had 2 orders of the wings come out. We only ordered one. Maybe the generic automated email is also telling to the laziness of the food. I'm sure their actual dinner menu is better, but what's the point if the food isn't consistent across the board? Maybe don't do the late night menu if it's going to be regarded as unimportant. Again, this is my one experience there from just the late night menu. Not sure if i want to give it another try for a while, but one bad experience usually carries more weight than good ones, unfortunately. Lastly, for a "no tipping" policy where they enforce a 20% fee to cover their operations, I should expect much better from the restaurant. Very, very disappointing. I'm not sure if it's just this location or if all of their locations do this now but they also gave us bottled water for free, which was nice. One thing I really liked about the Chinatown location was the parking. There's a huge parking lot across the street so finding a spot was easy. I prefer the Pasadena location for dining in but its parking lot is very small and finding a spot can be difficult. We'll definitely go back to Howlin' Ray's when we visit LA again next spring.
