    Coconut Salmon
    Victoria

I got the coconut salmon and it was really good. Just add a little salt to bring out the spices. The salmon wasn't dry/overcooked. It came with rice, steamed cabbage and fried plantain. The man working was also generous with the gravy on the rice which is appreciated. So this was the only entree I've had there but I would get it again

I've been stopping here for a while for a spicy Jamaican meat paddy. And they have been very good. They have definitely been spicy and have had excellent flavor. Every time I'm there, I look at the fried chicken legs. They aways look good. Today, I decided to get one. It was a good choice. It was good and it was twice the size of the ones that I get when I go to Publix. The girl who is working there is always really nice and friendly.

Meat was so tender it fell off the bone. We shared the oxtail and brown stew chicken. Both delicious.

She was not stingy with filling the plate up. The lady that helped us today was sweet as pie. She was warm, sweet and professional. The place was clean and the food aroma filled the room. Pure goodness! I'm so glad I found this place. When my craving for Jamaican food comes back, I now have my go-to place. 100% recommend!

It's a small, mom-and-pop-like shop which of course is the best kind of restaurant IMO. When I walked in, everything smelled amazing and all the food was covered up, which I can appreciate for cleanliness purposes. I was greeted by a smiling and upbeat Simone, who is super warm and welcoming. This was a very pleasant surprise given how my beautiful Jamaican people do not always get the best rep for customer service (IYKYK). I ordered the oxtail, rice and peas and some jerk chicken. Simon gave me a beautiful, and packed plate. The rice and peas was SOO good, I was happy just eating it by itself. The oxtail pieces were big and juicy and FALL-OFF-THE-BONE good. The cabbage had a distinct color and flavor that I LOVED. I give the overall plate a 9/10 only because I didn't get any carrots with the oxtail or sweet plantains in my order which I personally prefer and personally feel should come with oxtail meals. Also because while the jerk chicken LOOKED AMAZING and was nice enough, it didn't pack as much flavor as I would like and they didn't have a signature sauce with it (again, a personal preference, try it yourself, to see how YOU feel). Overall, this was an awesome experience. I would definitely eat here again and strongly encourage you to give it a try if you haven't yet, even just to experience the pleasure of meeting Simone.

Some restaurants serve food. Others serve memories…read more For me, Joy's Roti Delight isn't just the best Trinidadian restaurant in Broward County--it's a place that's been part of my life for years. I've been eating there since they were in their original location connected to Lauderhill Mall, and no matter how many restaurants I've visited as a chef, Joy's has always felt like home. Walk through the front door and you'll see the large photo of Mr. Vishwanath "Joy" Sawh. That picture is more than decoration--it's a reminder of the man whose kindness and passion built a place that has fed generations of South Floridians. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to meet him. He was genuinely one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. And the food? Simply outstanding. Their doubles are, in my opinion, the best in Broward--soft, fresh, perfectly balanced, and packed with authentic Trinidadian flavor. It's no surprise they're one of the dishes people rave about over and over in public reviews. The curry goat is tender and deeply seasoned. The curry chicken is rich and comforting. The curry duck is phenomenal. The stew chicken tastes like it came straight from a family kitchen. Pair any of them with their flavorful rice and peas, curry potatoes, or curry chickpeas, and you understand why Joy's has built such a loyal following over the years. But believe it or not... my favorite side is the pumpkin. Funny enough, I used to never eat pumpkin. Mr. Joy himself convinced me to give it a chance, telling me how good it was for me. If you know what I mean I finally listened--and I've been hooked ever since. It's funny how the smallest conversations can stay with you forever. Don't leave without trying their homemade pepper sauce either. It brings just the right amount of heat while letting the flavors of the food shine. As an Executive Chef who's fortunate enough to eat at restaurants across South Florida, I know great food when I taste it. But what separates Joy's isn't just the cooking--it's the heart behind it. The recipes, the consistency, the culture, and the people have made this place a landmark for Trinidadian cuisine. Rest in peace, Mr. Vishwanath "Joy" Sawh. Thank you for the meals, the conversations, and the legacy you've left behind. Your name still brings people together around a table, and that's one of the greatest accomplishments anyone in the restaurant business could ever hope for. Some legacies are written in history books. Yours is written in every plate that comes out of that kitchen.

I decided to swing by for 2 ($5.50 total) doubles. I asked the lady for extra cucumber on it (its included for free). And extra tamarind sauce. (A little more of a squirt). The lady put maybe the size of a quarter of cucumber in both. Which is 100% the normal amount. I asked for a little more in one. She put maybe the size of a dime worth more. I gave up caring. Then gave me the normal amount of sauce. The short hair manager that was sitting down eating on her phone kept hearing "extra" "little more". Regardless of the extra not actually being given. The lady got up ran over to the register to check me out and instead of it being $5.50 before tax. It was now $8.00 before tax due to her adding a "small side of cucumber". She charged me $2.50 for i swear to you 1 cent worth more of cucumber. It was the size of a dime more of shredded cucumber. The first lady didnt mention it would be extra. The manager didnt mention it and I saw it pop up on the screen for 1 second and she didnt even mention it. Im not coming back ever again. Nor am I promoting this store again. I have gotten over 100 millions views on social media in the last month and all I have to say is ive chosen to leave a yelp/google review. Its not about the $2.50. Even though thats almost an entire doubles. But its the lack of communication and also the scam they tried to pull. Still waiting for my "side of cucumber" to appear. Thanks. Below are the photos of the "extra" side of cucumber no where to be found on both my doubles.

We arrived around 11 PM on a Friday and the place had great energy. It was lively without feeling overwhelming, and a few tables looked like they were celebrating special occasions, which added to the vibe. The music was excellent and honestly brought back a bit of that nostalgic, high school party feel in the best way. We ordered a couple of drinks and they were definitely strong and well made. The service stood out just as much as the atmosphere. The owner was incredibly pleasant and attentive, checking in with us several times to make sure we were taken care of. You could tell she genuinely cared about the guests. I also learned the owners are Trini and Guyanese, which I loved because it added a nice personal touch to the experience. As a first time visitor, I really appreciated that she thanked us for coming when we left. It made the experience feel welcoming and personal. I'll definitely be back to try the food. As a vegetarian, I'm hoping to make a special request since there aren't many Chinese vegetarian options on the menu, but I'm confident they'll accommodate it. We left after 1 AM and people were still coming in, so it's clearly a popular late night spot. Great location right off University with plenty of parking, which makes it super convenient. Overall, a great night, great energy, and a place I'll be returning to.

The love and light…read morethat lives in Chef Juliette truly trickles down through her staff and shows up in every detail of the service. No matter when I visit, it's always a warm, hospitable experience--honestly reminiscent of The Ritz-Carlton. Surrounding businesses could learn a great deal from them. I first met Chef Juliette during a visit from DC in September 2025. My best friend introduced us, and immediately I felt the love of a mother and the passion of a seasoned chef who genuinely loves what she does. And that passion? It translates directly through the food. A few weeks ago, I was back in town visiting again, and the energy was exactly the same. We stopped by to pick up a catering order for an event, and Chef Juliette sent us off with pork chop sandwiches so big--and so good--I barely touched the catering food that day (thank goodness for to-go boxes and a freezer). I was able to bring back BBQ chicken, ribs, and the "Turn It Up Rice"--which is out of this world. Perfectly cooked rice layered with crisp vegetables, shrimp, chicken, and brisket... smoky, flavorful, and such a creative spin on fried rice. Then, the day after, Chef invited us back for a VIP experience--and when I say the love is real, y'all... it's real! She prepared a savory seafood étouffée enriched with shrimp and lobster, served over creamy polenta--an elevated take on traditional shrimp and grits. Paired with fresh-baked buttermilk biscuits, sausage from her brother in Georgia, and perfectly crispy bacon... everything was divine. The kind of meal that evokes emotion--the kind that makes you feel genuinely cared for. The restaurant itself feels cozy and welcoming--rich with history and personality. Every time I visit, I discover a new layer of her story which is told along the walls and decor. Chef Juliette is truly something special. If you're ever in the Pompano or Fort Lauderdale area, do yourself a favor and visit Lickie Stickie! And don't leave without trying the baked beans and black-eyed peas--Chef puts okra in them, and I don't want them any other way ever again. Outstanding.

Apparently, reflection of the challenging economic times we're experiencing. Very disappointed in the quantity and price of the Catfish daily special. For $15, I was shocked when I opened the very light, styrofoam takeout container and found a single, medium size filet. Really?! The portion of the sides were ample. The macaroni and cheese was cheesy delicious. The rice and peas were bland. I enjoyed the corn bread bombs. One of my dinner guests (1st timer) wasn't so sure about them. Customer service was the usual welcoming, friendly, prompt service that makes a customer feel like family. Along with complimentary samples of the daily soups and lemonade. All the tables had neatly arranged place settings with menus. The peeling floor needs repair. The verdict is also out on the drinks being served in the plastic containers. It would seem regular beverage cups are less expensive and easier to use. The soup samples were tasty and piping hot. One was supposedly seafood soup, but I only got chicken in both samples.
