Doctor Sun has been our family doctor for years and has always provided us with the highest medical care.

Dr. Sun's office is located right off Foothill Blvd in a little quaint office building. It was easy to find. My mom has been her patient for over 20 years. Sonya, her receptionist and medical assistant, has been employed there for many years. She has been so helpful when it comes to mapping appointments and getting referrals. It is a small office and practically a 2 woman show. If Sonya is unable to answer the phone, Dr. Sun answers the phone. Both are very helpful. Dr. Sun as a family practice doctor is very thorough. She takes her time. She is very soft-spoken, so for those with hearing problems, it is very difficult to understand her. I go to the appointments with my mom. I'm in the medical field. I understand her just fine. She is very polite and patient. She has referred my mom to wonderful specialists. She has taken care of my mom's health for many years and has done a fantastic job! PROS * Dr. Sun is warm, friendly, and patient. I never feel rushed - she takes the time to understand my health concerns CONS *The front office women are very unpleasant and unprofessional (over the phone, even worse is person). During my first few calls as a new patient, I thought they were an answering service. I almost canceled but I'm glad I didn't because Dr.Sun was the polar opposite *You will have to call multiple times to get a hold of someone. Again, there are two women in the office and I have seen their disregard for patients in person. I dropped by to pick up a referral and I looked in the glass window. I saw one woman sitting down and the other fixing her hair as the phone rang for a long time. I have experienced this many times over the phone (hanging up, trying over and over again without an answer) and it was upsetting to see in person *Lack of technology A. no online dashboard to see test results or get referrals. You have to go to the office and pick up hard copies. B. And no email for the doctor or the office (this one is really odd) C. No online appointment service Not a big deal, but with covid, upgrading to better communication technology will be better for this office. I've seen Dr. Sun for a number of years. From Day 1, she has been an amazing primary care physician for my needs. I suffer from a severe form of a herpetic disease, and when I came to Dr. Sun years ago for help, she was very open-minded and concerned about my condition. More recently, she did not at all hesitate to prescribe me a medication off-label that showed promise in clinical trials to alleviate my symptoms. And you know what? It worked amazingly well. I have nothing but good experiences with her. For reference, I live in Irvine, and I still drive to Claremont for appointments to see her, given the quality of care she provides. Dr Sun has been my primary for years and years. My husband and adult children see her now too. I've moved several times over the years but continue to travel to Dr Sun's location. She is kind, she listens, her bedside manner is the best I've ever seen from a medical professional, and she treats me like an important individual, instead of just like another appointment. Dr. Sun is fantastic! She is a very caring and attentive doctor. I would have loved to continue to see her if her front office was capable and organized. Each time I visit, my experience with the receptionist/front desk has been consistently negative and a headache in general. The receptionist is difficult, combative and often has trouble understanding requests. She does not listen/pay attention over the phone, then will call back (resulting in delays) just to ask for the same information I had already provided! Her record keeping is very disorganized - she told me she could not find any records of some of the tests that Dr. Sun ordered for me in my patient chart/files (when I had a voicemail from Dr. Sun telling me the results of those tests!) There are also billing issues that resulted in a lot of headache with my insurance. Because of her, I will not be going back to Dr. Sun and now has to search for a new primary care doctor :( read more

I've had Dr. Sun for a few years now and she is simply the best PCP I've had. She genuinely cares and is concerned for her patients well being. This evident in her tone, body language, and approach towards patients. She is responsive to inquiries. Although the front desk can be frank, I have personally never found them to be rude. Good if you have a minor scrape or something small. Anything beyond that don't do it! No communication and lack of response. She sent me for blood work three weeks ago and I still haven't heard from her. She was supposed to schedule an MRI for me, after waiting two weeks my surgeon had to step in and schedule for me. I finally got a call from her receptionist a week after I had my MRI. I was directed by Dr. son on my zoom appointment with her child in the background btw to go to her office and pick up paperwork my wife had to go as well for paperwork when we got there the office was closed after knocking on the door for a few minutes the receptionist finally came to the door and treated us like we were going to rob the place. The office is never open and the receptionist is no help at all. Like I said if you sprain your hip doing yoga or something she's good to talk to on a zoom call other than that you'll probably never see her in person.Good luck! read more

The doctor is great but the receptionist suck as the lady is rude and does not seem to care about the patients. I have to try calling multiple times before someone would pick up the phone. Also the technology is outdated--printer does not work for 2 weeks and appointment system is down for 1 week so no appointments. What is going on?? Also due to COVID she does NOT do in-person visit unless you're coming for a physical. ALL MY OTHER DOCTORS I CAN SEE IN PERSON!! Got make some changes or business will go down hill. I take daily medication and when I went to refill my prescription, I was told that it was denied by the doctor, even though I had 1 refill left. When I called Dr Sun's office, a receptionist answered and rudely informed me that they intentionally denied the prescription because I had not seen Dr. Sun in 11 months and she likes to see her patients every 4-6 months. 4-6 MONTHS?! Ain't nobody got time for that. Also, why write a prescription if you're not going to fill it? Long story short, I found a new doctor. Doc. Sun is not bad, she's not great either. But her receptionist or whatever she is, is the worst person ever. We are in the middle of a pandemic, I tell her I'm not feeling well and all she does is tell me if I don't pay the copayment she is sending me to collections. I am bummed about writing this review. Dr. Sun was my primary doctor for some years. She's a good doctor, but well, right now, it's nearly impossible to make an appointment or get anyone in the office to call you back or even answer the phone during office hours. Her office staff is just horrible. They are rude, never answer the phone, never return phone calls, and when you have a doctor, you do kind of need to make appointments to see them. Dr. Sun herself no longer comes to the office for sick appointments, which is difficult, but I could get past that if her office staff weren't so terrible. I had to change doctors because I needed to see a doctor and simply could never get anyone to answer the phone in the office or return calls or anything. This is also unfortunately true of after hours service. You will not get a call back if you call after hours either. It really seems like they do not want patients to be there. read more

This review is only based on first impression appointment call! I just switched my daughter over to Dr. Sun after being with another doctor for 12 years. My insurance isn't effective until July so we haven't met any of the staff personally. It's super important for me to get great service on the first call. That first impression means a lot and it went very well. The gal was really nice and helpful. I'm hoping that we will have the same experience in person. I'll update my review next month. read more

Unlike my previous "chain" doctors office where I had to access an automated system just to get to the receptionist (ah hem...Cucamonga Valley Medical group) That said... I was not rushed at all with Dr. Sun. I have not experienced this kind of personalized care since I lived in the East Coast....which I have to say....things run far more efficiently. Dr. Sun is smart, patient and takes the time to hear her patients concerns. She actually asks more than two questions to ascertain what's going on with you. When Dr. Sun is actually in office, she is a really great woman who cares about her patients. However, 95% of the time I called to make an appointment, she was out of office for a matter of weeks. Also, the nurses who answer the phones are not the most pleasant to deal with. The amount of stars would definitely go up if I could ever make an appointment but the lack of availability has caused me to change primary care physicians. read more

LIKE: Dr. Sun is very SWEET and patient. Easy to schedule, NO long wait or rush you out of there. Her front desk girl is not very warm (she could have smiled more :D) but she is actually VERY helpful with any questions and takes time to explain everything. I highly recommend Dr. Sun as your primary physician, she's under both Upland Medical Group and Pomona Valley Medical Group. DISLIKE: If I have to think of something...the office can look nicer. I called today and the phone rang and rang forever before a not so nice person answered it and said she is the only staff playing nurse and receptionist and then Dr Sun. That seems a little suspicious to me that a real staff isn't set up, but she has only been out of residency for 7 years and served it at Pomoma Hospital which is the pits. Dr Sun is a Great doctor. I've enjoyed having her has my primary. As for her staff... that's another story. They are not flexible at all. What caught me by surprise was that they don't even call you for a friendly reminder for your appointment, not even a text! When I ask the receptionist if she could do so due to my busy schedule her response was "WE DON'T DO THAT HERE.." I responded with could you pls put a note on my account? I love Dr. Sun. she is my doctor as well as my son's. She can see us anytime. Even same day. She always is friendly and listens. She has no problem writing prescriptions and sending me to a specialist. She gave me a referral for my son to see an ENT. We went I hated the guy and wanted a second opinion so I called her and she gave me a second referral to a different doctor who I really liked. The only thing that bugs me but is something I can totally get over because she is amazing is her nurse. I am not a huge fan of her. She just seems very unpersonable. I highly recommend Dr. Sun for your medical needs. I made an appointment for my annual physical and all went well. Dr. Sun is very patient, understanding, and answers any questions. My friend recommended me to her. My friend said Dr. Sun will treat you for almost everything, including the dreaded pap test for the women. Dr. Sun's business card states that she is board certified and a family physician. Updated: So I had to update my review because of some issues I had to deal with after my visit. During my visit Dr. Sun told me that if I hadn't received my results within two weeks to give her a call. After two weeks I started to wonder so I called her office not once, not twice, but three times on three different days and no answer, not even an answering machine. I finally made contact with her secretary and she said she would get the results ready and asked when I would want to pick them up. I said Friday since I didn't work and she said copies would be 25 cents a page and I said ok. I told my friend about having to pick up my results and pay for the copies and she commented that she didn't have to pay per page and she received her results by mail the next day. I felt that I was being treated unfairly, so when I went to pick up my results I asked the secretary why I had to pay, sign a release for my medical information, and drive and waste gas to pick up my medical information. She just said its company policy, she was not helpful and she was very defensive. She never apologized or said "you're welcome" when I stupidly said "thank you" as I left the office. I wanted to talk to Dr. Sun but guess what, she was out of her office until 3 pm and I was there at 1:30. Dude, where the heck was she for 2 or more hours since she takes lunch at 12:30 pm?? It's just very shady to have to drive to pick up lab results, pay for a copy of my information and sign a release. It's my information, I already paid a co-pay and I have to pay the lab fee that my insurance won't cover, and I received my results a month later. What if there was something wrong with me? I won't be returning and my friend said she wouldn't be retuning based on the way I was treated. Dr. Sun did call me back and left a message later in the day and explained in a very nice way about her policy. She better change it or she won't have any patients. read more

I needed to find a doctor and found Dr. Sun via Yelp based off of her great reviews. I love that it doesn't take 4 months to get in a seen by a doctor. And the wait time... What wait time? As a new patient to the office I had to fill out the general paperwork and was seen very quickly. In and out of the office (and that was with a physical and talking about my past history) in less than 45 minutes. Some stated that the receptionist was rude.....I didn't feel as if she was rude. She answered my questions and was friendly. She just wasn't artificially perky which is fine by me. I would rather have someone be real and genuine with me than being fake-ingly nice. Dr. Sun strikes me as a kind and compassionate doctor who genuinely cares about the well being of her patients. She got to know me through my past health history but we also talked about general life stuff too. She asked me a lot of questions and answered any and all questions and concerns that I had. I have found a doctor that I actually like going to, which is hard to find. I am hoping this review will help other find a great doctor, but hopefully not so many that I have a long wait next time! ;) read more

Perfectly nice, but zero familiarity with LGBT health, and the requirement to revisit the office every six months to get prescriptions refilled is absurd. I've been on certain medications for a decade. I don't need to pay another copay for her to tell me I still need them - this is one of the many things that's wrong with the US healthcare system. read more

I am a primary care doctor (in residency) myself and Dr Sun has been my PCP during my time in Claremont (2 years). I have loved going to see her. She really listens, cares and spends the time with me that I need. I think she does a great job taking care of 90% of medical conditions and referring when really necessary (some doctors I notice tend to refer for many things that PCPs should be able to take care of in the office). The front office staff is also very kind, professional and helpful. I've recommended her to others (including other doctors and healthcare professionals) and I hope where I'm moving I can find someone as trustworthy and thorough as she is. read more

Dr. Sun is a great Dr. I even recommended my whole family to her. You feel that she takes the time to ensure you are getting the medical attention you require. I highly recommend Dr. Sun. When you have an appointment for 10 am, you are seen at 10 am. The Dr. will accommodate you on the same day appointment. The Dr's office is clean. It is easy to find and parking is never an issue. Dr. Sun has been ok. She is willing to fill prescriptions and help you out when you need it. But I recently had blood work done and when the test results were done and I had to track them down just to hear my results and have to keep calling to get the physical paperwork so I could see them. When the doctor called me to explain my results she went over the basics of what was wrong. But when I actually got to see them she forgot to mention some very important information that can only be described as negligent. I will be switching when I get a chance read more
