We were out for a drive this afternoon with our dog, Lucy. We noticed that Jenkins was dog friendly. We are so happy they were They lead us to the patio outside and our waitress was quick in stopping by to get our drink order. The service was quick and the food was delicious. The patio was awesome with a cool breeze l, very relaxing Lucy ordered a hamburger patty. By the way she licked her lips after each bite, she loved it. My husband ordered a house salad with grilled chicken. He said it was fresh and crispy. I ordered a French dip with steak fries which I shared with Lucy. It came out hot and ready to enjoy. Would definitely recommend stopping here with or without your dog. You will not be disappointed nor will your puppy. We will be back. read more

Everything was great! From the service to the food and the decor. Loved it! I asked if they could make the fish sandwich a wrap instead, since they do offer a chicken wrap, and they did! I ordered it with blackened fish and sweet potato fries - it was perfect! They even grilled the wrap. They need to add that to the menu! I also love that their ketchup is organic! Stopped in while traveling through. The inside was pretty cool with the decoration. The service was spot on and our waitress took care of us. Now they claim the chicken salad is famous. Now I wasn't a huge fan, it was very bland. It wasn't awful and is probably good for senior citizens since most can't have salt or spices. Wasn't a lot of flavor nor did I find it to be famous. It wasn't bad but I've tried it and now I would order something different next time. Gave 3 stars just because the thing they advertised as famous wasn't so good. read more

An old Cleveland institution in a new location and new building. Positives are prices (more than reasonable) and average quality (you get what you pay for). The place has a huge menu and a basic but fresh salad bar. The negatives all start at the front. Just odd that when you come at dinner time, you are plunked down in the bar area (to the closest seat from the host stand BTW). Then no wait staff is working this area. The single bartender, who had a full bar to deal with, also had to wait on us. No wonder the order got messed up. I get the petty jealousies can drive relations between the hosts, wait staff and bartender. OK. But you are in a business with highly competitive market for casual dining. Sandwich was dry as a bone and the service was terrible. It wasn't busy at all, yet the waitress never came back to refill drinks or check on us. Took a long time to even arrive at our table. Every time I come to Chattanooga, I go to Cleveland to buy shoes and to Jenkins to have a great lunch. Great service friendly atmosphere. The food is always good. I've tried so many different things but today I had the famous chicken salad sandwich. I was not disappointed, it was really good. I had fried pickles and chicken and rice soup. This is a hard review to write but here goes...honestly I'd give this place a higher star rating if it wasn't called Jenkins and I haven't been eating here for over 30 years. The problem is like a lot of places it's changed owners and for some reason they have decided to change the food. Normally that wouldn't be the worst thing but for this place in particular the main reason I liked it was because the food was unique to here. Anyway me and my wife (and two kids) went tonight to give the place a try after seeing so many mixed reviews online. Some good/some not so good...I ordered the French dip and my wife got the fish and chips...this is literally our order almost every time we go here so if there's a difference I was about to find out The French dip was billed as fresh sliced roast beef on a toasted bun, when I ordered it the waitress said "now it doesn't come with mustard and mayo on it anymore"....i got it and I'll say I didn't care for the roast beef taste but the au jus did have a really good flavor. Sadly the fact it wasn't like the one I have been use to for so long there I wasn't really into it. Another disappointment is they have apparently stopped serving steak fries in favor of the same fries you get at places like Buffalo Wild Wings...very underwhelming. As far as my wife's meal they have changed out the fish for a different source...it went from being 5-6 small pieces of breaded fish to 2-3 large pieces...she said it tasted good but one of her favorite parts of this entree was the homemade kettle chips...they also apparently don't offer that anymore either. We ordered one kid meal (mini corn dogs) and it was basically like any other mini corn dog meal for a kid. Except it was 9 bucks... Before a tip it was right under $39 and that was with us drinking water. Like I said this review is a little hard for me to give just based on the fact the food wasn't bad but it's nothing like it was compared to the taste and not having steak fries and homemade chips really just killed it compared to the old offerings. This was the place I would recommend others to eat at if they were in town and wanted a unique meal with a local experience but I feel like it's lost that now. Another thing to note is they no longer offer a salad bar at dinner hours and they have chosen to close from 2-4 everyday (through the week not sure about Saturday). Again if I wasn't comparing this to the way the food was here it would be a four star but compared to the older recipes and sides I'd give it a 3 for being basically the same food as everywhere else. read more

I've been going to Jenkins for over 20 years. I love the French dip and several other sandwiches. Something has changed recently and instead of sliced corn beef in the Ruben, it's some highly processed lunch meat, very little kraut and tons of onions. It was the worst food I've ever had at Jenkins. Still a great atmosphere. My husband's French dip was good as ever. But they need to fix the way they are now making the Ruben. Gross. read more

The service was above average -- although we had to remind our server a couple of times for items we'd requested. Food quality is average (my steak fries were cold and mushy and the "chicken" tenders were not prepared with real chicken -- but processed parts shaped into fish size cutouts. I have eaten here since high school (30+ years) They recently had a change in ownership, which a lot of their regular customers complained about some small menu changes and a change in their famous chicken salad. And my family and I have continued to enjoy eating there. I have like most of the changes, but they aren't as busy as before. So here is the big issue. I know there business is down, so they should be focused on earning that business back. I have called in lunch and dinner hundreds of times over 30 years, and today at lunch when I called they said I could call in my order( even after their phone system prompts say to enter "1" to place order) that I had to come in person or go to the website and order online...hard to do while driving. I said you must be kidding and she rudely replied no and she wouldn't take my order. I guess they don't need or want my business anymore. Good luck keeping Jenkins alive another 40 years read more

I got the most driest burger I had in my life, just think of crackers with nothing to drink. Should have called them crusty dried burger on the menu. I've tried several things and can honestly say that if you catch me it is because I am crazing their delicious fish sandwich, that baby is huge and bigger than the bun. So big you could cut in half and share..... also be satisfied with that and some fries. Another weird thing here is they serve 2 different kinds of fries but they never asked which we prefer. Worst burger ever. This is the H&H supposed to hot slaw and Sweetwater Valley smoked pimento cheese. I ordered it medium and as you can see something brown and chewy was on this bun. Will not be returning. $45 dollars for two people to have lunch is absolutely unreasonable, also 20% gratuity is added to any group over 6 people, so if you're going to eat with family be aware of this as well. Honestly I do not see this business as being the Cleveland "institution" that it used to be, and it is obvious why they never seem as busy as they used to be either. The cold beer was good. I ordered a Rueben - the Rueben had one slice of corned beef, an entire slice of raw onion, dry kraut and mustard. In their defense it does say mustard in description but who puts mustard on a Rueben. I used to go to the Athens Jenkins all the time. This was only my second visit to the Cleveland location but it doesn't impress me. This location has a salad bar but it's pricey for what it is. $10 for unlimited visits to the salad bar or $3 on top of your entree purchase for one visit to the salad bar. I got soup and salad and their salad was 90% iceberg lettuce and the soup cup was tiny. Wasn't satisfied by my visit. read more

We are such fans of this establishment! My husband and I read on yelp that Jenkins has the " best salad bar " and we don't disagree! We loved the salad bar as well as other items we ordered. The burger ( fantastic! ) the Rubin ( fabulous) and the chicken strips ( amazing )! We loved the "vibe" of the restaurant and will definitely be back. I really like the waffle sweet potato fries. Sadly I haven't found anything else on the menu that I really like. French dip was average, burger was average, cheese cake was good was a step under Cheese Cake Factory. Reuben was ok, but had like pickles and mustard on it? The atmosphere is great and the servers do a good job. My wife really likes this because of the decor, I like atmosphere too, and I keep trying to find something I like there to keep my wife happy. Maybe I will just order only sweet potato fires? Small rant... They offer American Kobe, which in my opinion is a joke. I am tired of places calling stuff Kobe beef just to bump prices. American Kobe is not Kobe. Not even the same cow, it is a mix breed, and I am rather sure they don't carry the same standards. To my knowledge, there are only 9 locations in the USA that serve actual Kobe and none are in TN. The whole Kobe thing is over-hyped. Base price $12.95 and an additional $5.95 for 8 pieces of 3/4 inch over fried rubbery chicken. Additionally, the sparse vegetables were cut very small and mixed into the salad with the dressing. The only reason for 3 stars is that my wife's French dip was good. Extremely long wait for very mediocre food. If this is under new management, they need to vastly improve the quality of their salads. read more

Wow this is Cleveland's newest restaurant. Excellent clean restaurant in a brand new building. Excellent fast service with some of the best food you can order. I started eating here about twelve years ago in the old location and it was great and it still is. I would always order the French Dip. Now I'm getting the chicken salad with chicken and rice soup. It is bigger now with more people to wait on you. My waitress was friendly with great superb customer service as she took care of me. I will be more of a regular here now. I was and still impressed. They now have a train going around the edge of the ceiling all around the restaurant that says welcome to Jenkins lit up. Kids might like this. If you ask me, this is as close to perfect restaurant to go to as you can achieve anytime for anyone and everybody. My recommendation is for your side is to get the salad bar for a $2 extra charge. read more

The chicken and rice soup is the best thing on the menu. Get it. Skip the chicken tenders, they're terrible. They're somewhere below Kids Cuisine frozen meal chicken nuggets and below even a Hungry Man or Banquet frozen chicken tender. The rest of the food that I've tried has been good, with one other exception, the chicken salad. It is bland in a way I can only describe as it's like it was made in an industrial park slopped in a bulk tub and transported a few thousand miles just above a safe temperature so the flavors have degraded and are just... The Jenkins as we have all known and loved is no more!! It was our hope that with new ownership that things would remain the same at the restaurant that has been a fabric of my family for decades. But, we learned tonight that is simply not the case. From an adjustment to hours of operations, no operating televisions in the main dining area, change to Jenkins famous chicken salad, and now not honoring gift cards from prior ownership, the changes continue and not better for the customers. We attempted to use gift cards that were purchased under prior ownership and the current owner/manager chose not to honor them. They said that as of 12/31/2023, they were no longer honoring those gift cards...no notice...no exceptions. My family averages eating at Jenkins at least once per week. And this is how the new ownership/management have chosen to treat routine customers who have eaten there for several decades. So, unfortunately, this establishment, which has been such an important part of my family's life, has chosen their path, leaving no other alternative but for us to choose ours, which will not include the "new" Jenkins. read more
