Jen does excellent work. I've taken several simple projects to her such as cutting down king size pillowcases to fit standard size pillows. I just left this business about 30 minutes ago and I'm doing something I rarely do and that's write a review. The reason I'm writing this review is due to the level of service I just experienced. First I entered and was never greeted only asked "what do you need" by the person that was sitting at a sewing machine and never bothered to get it or at least ask be could I wait a second until she finished. Instead she yelled again what do you need as my responses were in my normal tone of voice and she couldn't hear me. So after the 3rd try and still no attempt to at least come to see why I walked in with a pair of pants. I decided either me or my business was not welcome at this place. So I told her you know what never mind and I turned around and left. Never have I felt that unwelcome and like I was interrupting someone where I intended to spend my money. First time being here and last, i'm a black male and i thrift clothes a lot and sometimes i get bigger sizes to get them altered. Off the walk in i got a weird stare from the lady in charge, i had a jacket and some cargo shorts it wanted to be fixed to my waist size. No greeting or anything, i asked would you be able to alter the shorts to my waist size. With no effort or even measuring my waist, she said "no i'm sorry i can't help you" it honestly felt racist and the only reason i wasn't being helped was because of the color of my skin. The behavior displayed here was disgusting and distasteful. If you are a black woman with curves (i.e a small waist and curvy hips) stay away from this business. While on the phone with a friend, I heard the friend go through multiple items of clothing and be told that she could not have the alterations done due to how the clothes may fit after. My friend was understanding and thanked the women for their time anyway. ***THIS IS WHERE MY REVIEW COMES FROM: As my friend was changing back into her clothes in another room, an employee said "It's not the clothes that are her problem, it's her shape. I can't fix that, she needs a whole new body." I WAS BEYOND SHOCKED THAT SHE WAS EXPERIENCING THAT. (the workers must have thought she was no longer in the building) The other employee continued to say "yeah THEY pay for that type of stuff just to be big and uncomfortable". Only because she is curvy. The women who work here are rude, classless, and they definitely body shame. Please be mindful of these things before being vulnerable and asking any of them for their assistance to feel better in your clothing. 0/5 stars if i could! I'm very disappointed in their behavior. The lady who helped me (I don't want to assume it's was Jen herself) was pretty rude as other comments indicate. But she was clutch in getting my suit pants altered in time for my wedding, given a 2 day window only. Suit supply would've taken a week. Regarding price, it was about $27 and I paid her $30. Keep in mind she only takes cash. Given how rude and alienated she made me feel though, I really do regret giving her the tip, despite her speed, solely based on principle. read more

Moved out of town and had difficulty finding a great tailor around my area. So glad I was able to discover Jen Tailor through Yelp because the 5 stars are truly creditable. I rarely leave Yelp reviews so that shows how much I was satisfied as well. Unlike other tailors, she's the one who greets you at the door AND the one who works on your alterations. Jen is by far the best tailor I have worked with. I'm petite which means I have a lot of clothes altered, but I have yet to bring her something she can't fix. Even after I moved to Dallas, I still bring her clothes to alter when I visit Houston. Do note that her prices can be a little higher than other tailors, but it is worth it. Every time I have gone to other tailors I end up paying double because the job is not done right. I'll also add that she makes sure the fit is what you want before you pay and leave the store. After she makes the alteration, she will have you try the garment on again to make sure you are satisfied. read more

This tailor is awesome...I had ordered a dress on Amazon.com for my boyfriend's daughter's graduation and it came in 3 days before the day of...it was terrible the hemline was so uneven..i took it to Jen and she was very nice and professional, she told me she would have to take several inches off front and sides to make it even and that she would indeed have it done by the graduation...I was extremely happy with how the dress was altered especially since it was kind of a cheap dress but she made it look awesome and her prices are reasonable, I would recommend her to anyone, anywhere. read more
