I went to Dr. Blue for help with my sciatica. Back in June 2024, I was still close to my heaviest weight and dealing with stiffness all over. He worked on improving my range of motion and encouraged me to keep moving forward with my weight loss journey. What I appreciated most was how understanding and supportive he was. He also prescribed medication before my trip to Hawaii to help prevent a flare-up, which tremendously eased the nerve irritation and made the trip so much more comfortable. Dr. Blue's kindness, patience, and genuine care really made a difference. I'm grateful for all his help. read more

After being a lifelong Kaiser member, I was a little nervous about being on a PPO for the first time. I found Jeffrey Blue through ZocDoc and after confirming that he was in my network (Anthem Prudent Buyer) I scheduled a preventive care visit just to test the waters. The office was very busy, as there are several providers located in the same building, but I had no problem finding parking. The waiting room is very spacious with plenty of places to sit. After checking in I took my seat, and I was shocked when they called my name right at the time of my scheduled appointment. The nurse took my vitals and left me in the room where I honestly expected to be left waiting for awhile, but the doctor came in within a minute! Dr. Blue is so friendly, he made me feel extremely comfortable and I especially appreciated that he didn't make my being overweight the sole focus of our appointment. Most doctors that I have experience with rush the appointment and made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, but not Dr. Blue. I will be using him as my PCP going forward and recommend that every one else do the same. read more

Do not come to this place: 1) Since I chose them as my primary doctor, two years haven't even seen Dr Blue. Always a nurse practitioner handles me; 2) They managed to charge me into three different visits to bill the insurance for supposedly free annual check up. 3) When do need the physical therapy from an injury, the earliest appointment is almost three ways later because their therapist is on vacation. I've been to too many doctors in Palo Alto. For over one year I found that nobody would listen. Either these physicians wouldn't listen or they simply did not care even though they had all of the information that they needed at their fingertips. I researched physicians and I took a chance on Jeffrey Blue. He listened. He pulled up the records he needed to. He referred me to the right specialists and physical therapists. In other words,​ he is a professional and the best. Dr. Blue works with the best of the best. Dr. Blue diagnosed stomach cancer in an associate of mine and saved this person​s life. Dr. Blue was really nice!! I've had other doctors that are pushy and just want to prescribe you to medication but here is different. He's calm, patient and listens to which treatment you would prefer. I came in thinking (overestimating) that I may need to go into minor surgery but instead he had me take antibiotics and to-do items. YES!!! He brings in a laptop with him to take notes and/or research. I've been long overdue going to a doctor since my last experience elsewhere with an overwhelming doctor, but now I feel more comfortable with Dr. Blue :-) read more

Really good Doctor, I have been to him several times. Unfortunately the Norcal office where Dr. Blue is poorly staffed, and perhaps under staffed. A few of them aren't very pleasant, but worse of all, is the voicemails that go unanswered and online portal emails that don't get a response (have never had a response to any email I sent through the system, why have the system?). Also, several times when calling it just rings and rings. Sometimes after many many rings it goes to voicemail, but you aren't likely to get a call back. For these reasons I had to change Doctors, which is a pity. read more

Dr. Blue helped me to train, compete in and finish 4 Ironman events in the same number of years. The first time I visited him I expected him to tell me what other docs had told me: "stop running if it hurts." Instead, Dr. Blue says, 'your job is to keep running, my job is to make sure it doesn't hurt'. (Exactly what I wanted to hear!) And through a mixture of meds and therapy, I kept running and got better, too. I came back from my last Iron-Distance event really messed up and my symptoms required a specialist. So I went to see one, then another, then another, then another. After three months of tests, appointments, waiting and delays, the best 'specialists' could only conclude (drumroll please!): more rest, less stress. So after seeing the best specialists they Bay Area had to offer I headed back to Dr. Blue. I was really at the end of my rope (literally and figuratively). And true to form, he found a brain tumor that everyone else had missed. Were it not for him I would be reviewing the Mission Cemetery from six feet under. I was looking at switching from my traditional Western MD to something more related to my lifestyle (Sports Medicine, holistic, etc.). I found Dr. Blue via Yelp, and thought he would be a good fit for what I was looking for in a doctor. After a couple visits, I got more out of him in those 2 visits than the previous 15 years combined I spent with my original doctor, who in retrospect never really listened to my concerns anyways. Dr. Blue is very thorough, listens to what you have to say, and in my opinion very astute in finding out what your physical issues are if you are an athlete. He is a little on the dry side, and don't expect a warm and fuzzy bedside manner. However, he does show genuine concern for your well-being, and will tell you exactly what you need to know to get better, or at least the steps you need to get there. Highly recommended. read more

I've been looking forward to writing this review! While training for a marathon, I experienced significant knee discomfort which led to me look for a sports medicine physician in the area. Thanks to Yelp, I found Dr. Blue. We've been told not to judge a book by its cover right? Well, I couldn't help it. My first impression of the building was it reminded me of a low-income medical clinic with its pink paint and not well decorated interior. However, Dr. Blue's area was very clean and welcoming. When the doc walked in, he started asking me a lot of questions which seemed a little strange, but as the appt progressed, I realized that he was just being personable and he quickly demonstrated his knowledge. He confirmed my suspicion of having IT band issues and recommended PT with Jan (pronounced Yen). Jan is awesome! Solid 5 stars. Jan taught me some great strength building exercises, is friendly, a tad funny, and its very evident that he loves what he does. Dr. Blue seems to think I am going to be screwed in the marathon because the injury disrupted my training, but Jan asked him what he recommends in spite of that to reduce the chance that my IT band would flare up. Dr. Blue gave me a shot that didn't hurt one bit. He isn't intimidating as many doctors are. Overall, its been a pleasant experience and since I don't have a primary care doc, I might consider going to Dr. Blue for that as well. The marathon is in 3 days. Update to come. Edit: After speaking with the staff at Dr. Blue's office, I have been reassured that these issues were outside of the norm and most likely had to do with the pharmacy selected. Outside of these issues, my experiences here have been excellent and would recommend him. Like a previous reviewer said, Dr. Blue himself deserves a 4 to 5 star rating. Although I hesitate to write negative reviews, my current experience has driven me to do so. For the last 6 months I have seen Dr. Blue without incident however: 1. Prescriptions have now been switched at the incorrect costco pharmacy over 3 times now. Each time, I either have to wait for 30-40 minutes while they sort it out, or on numerous occasions I will need to drive to a different location. 2. The prescription will suddenly change - After receiving 120 of said medication, suddenly the prescription was cut in half. Whether this was intentional or an error, it ends up requiring yet another (5th trip) to the costco pharmacy. Again, I do hesitate to write bad reviews especially for a GP that has had no other issues in the past but the countless hours and stress that the disconnect between the pharmacy and the office is becoming intolerable. read more

Stopped by to check out pain that's been occurring in my knees. I had an appointment with Jill. She's amazing, extremely well educated and very friendly. (I've been to a doctor where i felt like they weren't as educated as I'd expect them to be) She listened to my issues, did a quick exam and i was out the door with a physical therapy referral paper in my hand. Lucky for me, they have physical therapy on site. Finally was able to schedule my appointments and I'm more than happy with the outcome. Jan, Tom and Jackie are all great! They're very friendly and easy to talk to. I'm glad I chose to do my PT here, instead of finding another location closer to home. (I live in South San Jose) It's been three weeks so far and I've been able to do body weight squats again without pain. Everyone in that office is great, i enjoy going there twice a week after seeing how much I've improved. I've been out of the gym, because of these injuries for a little over two months. I'm hoping to get back in sometime soon! Recovery is a long process, wouldn't have been able to do it without them! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Blue for more than 15 years now, ever since he was at the Center for Sports Medicine at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose. He treated several sports-related injuries and has recently become my primary care physician. I've recommended him to several coworkers, friends and family, as well. He is very straightforward and clearly lays out your options. He takes the time to explain what's going on with your body. His practice is more computerized than other doctors I've gone to, which adds a nice level of efficiency and allows me to see all my data online. I highly recommend PTR sports! read more

Dr. Blue is a great physician - both from a GP standpoint as well as his sports medicine specialty. I have benefited from both of these aspects. Dr. Blue is very honest and always gives you enough time so you don't feel rushed. What I like best is that he also listens to you and solicits your input (especially if there are multiple options) - and he really listens to your concerns and doesn't just give them lip service. I have no complaints about Dr. Blue or the PT staff (which I had to take advantage of when I ripped an adductor) . And one of the two front office staff is competent (the other - well, let's just sat I almost gave the review a 4 star because of that and certainly wouldn't mind seeing a little upgrade in the front office staff). But Dr. Blue himself is great and I plan on using him as long as he remains in the Bay Area. read more

After writing a long one star review of a cardiologist I decided to check to see if I reviewed Dr. Blue. Ooops, nope. My wife and I switched from a average family doc with a screwed up staff and front office to Dr. Blue about 5 years ago. Each year we appreciate him and his staff more. The prescriptions aren't constantly screwed up like we had with our previous family doc and Dr Blue's staff is always friendly and efficient. Dr. Blue listens carefully, discusses situations, and makes clear recommendations. He quickly has a plan of action when something in our bodies isn't working correctly. His communication skills are excellent. When I follow up on his advice with Web research his advice is easily validated. We are over-weight mountain bikers so having a sports doctor is a benefit. I hesitate to write this review because I'm selfish, and don't want the Dr. to have more clients and less time for me...but he's so deserving. I came to Dr. Blue sounding like a paranoid hypochondriac, I'm sure. Instead of talking me down, or treating me like I didn't know what I was talking about, he rather ran a full panel of tests, and referred me to a specialist for an ongoing problem I've had. When my results came back, he called me (a day later) to explain that things were normal minus some vitamin deficiency. How does he have enough time in the day? Dr. Blue is so knowledgeable, and really takes the time to get to know his patients' histories. His admin and nurse were also really fast, helpful, and super friendly. read more

I'M GLAD I WENT BACK!! I've been to two appointments. The first was at Dr. Blues' Campbell location. Every staff person in the front office was rude and unresponsive. BUT, I digress, Dr. Blue's office was not part of this front office group (at least not logistically). His office was through a separate door. The staff in his office were warm, amiable and professional (and they had a sense of humor. Remember that?). Yes, I'm qualified to judge. I found Dr. Blue to be sooo cool (competent, professional). Because I believe in redemption, (actually I was hoping that the Santa Clara office was going to be O.K.), I went to the Santa Clara office. I live in Santa Clara and that's the office I wanted to go to in the first place. What a difference! Everyone that I talked with was exceptional. Any fear that I had (white coat syndrome) dissipated at the moment that I walked in (ok, drove in as I'm temporarily in a wheelchair!). I also noticed that both Jeffrey Blue and Jill are oustanding dressers (I'm a designer, so I notice that stuff). The exam rooms are spotless, comfortable and they provide wi-fi. I can clearly see that Dr. Jeffrey Blue, and his assistant, Jill, put patient care above everything else. Dr. Jeffrey Blue also saved the life of an associate of mine (and this was a pretty hard thing to diagnose- a lot of other physicians might have overlooked it). It's so reassuring to finally find such a great doctor, assistant, and administration team. I was starting to think that the entire medical system was broken! AHHHH! read more

My review of Dr. Blue is in his capacity as a Family Practitioner (GP) as I am by no means an athlete :). While trying to find a Dr. with good reviews, who took my insurance and was still taking new patients I ran into Dr. Blue's yelp reviews. They were much better than for any of my other options so I gave it a try. It is usually very easy to schedule an appointment at a time that is convenient for me. Dr. Blue is very thorough and you don't feel like he's trying to brush you (and your concerns!) off to cram in more patients. My only complaint is that some times I've had to wait a little longer than I would like to. At the same time if this is what guarantees that I am also getting all my questions answered I'll gladly sit through it. Parking is very easy as they have their own private lot. Just got off the phone seeing if they had anything available by chance this week as I only get my work Schedule week per week and got a flat no and click. Worst most unprofessional experience I've ever had trying to book an appointment for something. Only reason for the two stars is the last time it was a good experience. My old Dr. was crotchety and always annoyed by my questions...I totally loved bothering him because I secretly think, I was his favorite patient. I would go in and ask him any question, anytime I wanted. He would always give me a rough time (jokingly) but answer my questions no matter how simple and send me on my way. I was worried when I moved from a relatively small town that I was not going to have that same ability with my new Dr. I definitely don't stop by "anytime" now but I'm sure I could if needed. Not having been his patient for very long, he, i feel, has a vested interest in my health. You would think that a Dr. should naturally have that but this has not been the case for me in the past. His staff is awesome, always kind and fun to chat with. I'm happy that yelp directed me to this office with all the fantastic marks. I would recommend my friends and family go here. read more

Had really bad experience here for an annual check up. Nobody told me what were the procedures for the check up. The doctor just listened to my heart beat and that was it! Then they sent me to a lab for blood test - which was the worst blood test experience ever!!! They use this third party lab called LabCorp, really sketchy place!!!! I highly doubt if they are even legit. Please go somewhere else for your check up - this is definitely not a pleasant experience - actually useless. The doctor told me nothing useful/relevant about my health. They are also very bad about clarifying the billing process. I was told I would not be charged for the regular blood test, guess what, got a bill to pay for the test a week later!! DO NO GO HERE!!! read more

Truly exceptional doctor and staff! I had a very swollen Achilles tendon, Dr Blue gave me all the time I wanted to discuss treatment and he and his staff were very attentive. Spacious, comfortable waiting room with TV but I didn't have to wait long. I don't have insurance and they offered a discounted rate on the service and orthopedic boot I needed which helped a lot. I've been going to Dr. Jeff Blue for ten years from a friend's recommendation after our previous family practitioner passed away. He and his staff have an incredible bedside manner which is hard to find now days. Dr. Blue takes a genuine interest in his patient's lives I feel, and it shows from the number of referrals he constantly receives. He really wants to help people get better from whatever ails them and is resistant to just prescribing medication automatically. I've never seen a doctor in my life who deeply cares about this patients, and is so knowledge and efficient at taking care of patients' concerns. I went to see Dr. Blue for an annual physical. After filling out a form, I got to see him within 5 minutes! He then listened very carefully as I explained some of the issues that have been bothering me. After he typed them in the computer, he started to attack them one at a time and is so efficient. He knew exactly what to look for and quickly devised a plan for each of them. One of the issues was a major concern to me as I noticed a small abnormal growth on my body. I panicked about it for days until my wife forced me to schedule an appointment with Dr. Blue. I was really glad that I did so. After hearing about this issue, Dr. Blue immediately ordered an ultrasound for me. I did the ultrasound onsite and got the result within 1 hour! Fortunately it was just a normal cyst but had I gone to somewhere else, I probably need to wait for a few days to do the ultrasound, then wait another few days to get the result. This is something that truly sets Dr. Blue apart from others. I was talking to the ultrasound specialist and she also mentioned that if Dr. Blue has a patient here, he wouldn't want them to wait, instead he would look at the results immediately after they become available. When Dr. Blue tole me the result, I can see that he was relieved as well that it was just a normal cyst. It is so rare nowadays to find a doctor that truly cares about you and your concerns. The assistant (Nora) I saw was also super awesome. After I did the ultrasound, I can see that she was very busy with a few other patients, but she still took the time to see me in the waiting area and let me know how much longer I'd expect to wait. This is completely different from other places where you wait for hours, and have to keep pesting the front office. Nora also thinks about her patients and make recommendations. For example, she recommended me schedule another physical so it will help me stay healthy. Finally, the front office is top notch as well. They are very attentive and whenever they see someone wandering there, they will reach out to help. Overall, this is truly an amazing place. I wish all the doctors on this planet are as caring and efficient as Dr. Blue. I can understand that once any doctor sees enough patients, it becomes a daily routine and the desire and enthusiasm to help and care for patients would fade away. But this is not the case with Dr. Blue. There's still someone out there like him who deeply cares about his patients and I encourage anyone who needs a primary or sports physician to give him a shot. I'm sure he and the office will amaze you as well. read more
