I received no email or comms from my doctor, the management team nor was I given any guidance on next steps in switching doctors. This is unacceptable. I should have been proactively notified and should have been made aware of my options ASAP. I called and texted the office several times to speak to Dr. Gorman about my experience but did not receive a call back. Instead, I received an impersonal, cold and sterile letter a few days later notifying me that I needed to find another doctor. I would not recommend this practice to anyone given the sloppy nature of my situation was managed- it's completely unacceptable.

After their visit, I spoke to them on the phone and they shared how hurtful and upsetting their visit was. Specifically, they shared that the way she communicated about their health not only felt unhelpful, but extremely hurtful. They felt judged and surprised when she suggested various recommendations for being overweight without asking any real questions about lifestyle, weight management throughout their life, successes, challenges, etc. She jumped to extreme solutions like a liquid diet and surgery, when overeating has never been something they have struggled with. They told me over the phone, pausing as they cried, "If I wasn't mentally stable, I would have left and killed myself." This was not something they had ever said before so wasn't them being dramatic - it was because their time with Dr. Borodulin was so painful. It was also shared that the Medical Assistant was extremely unprofessional, not saying anything when they came into the room to take BP and then yelling the numbers down the hall. I am a former Health Center manager, as well as a public health professional. I am also the wife of a physician. I understand patient care, the training physicians go through, and the responsibilities physicians have to their patients. Flippantly suggesting surgery without discussing previous challenges or success is absurd, as is suggesting a liquid diet for fast weight loss. When I asked about the delays, I was told there are simply too many patients. That response was concerning. It feels like the focus is on taking on more patients rather than properly caring for existing ones. During the one appointment I was able to get (scheduled three months in advance), I felt rushed, as if the priority was moving quickly to the next patient rather than providing thoughtful care. I never feel rushed at all or like I'm wasting his time like some doctors. He took the time to explain pros and cons of different medications and provide the names of specialty doctors. From the front desk to Barbara, who helped review my paperwork everyone was kind and welcoming. My first nurse, Kay, was incredibly nice, knowledgeable, and professional. When she went on break, Nicole took over she was also amazing. I'm not a fan of needles at all, but she did my IV so gently and with so much care. Then Kat, the third nurse, took me to the procedure room she was kind, calm, and very professional. Dr. Michael Block, the anesthesiologist, was excellent. He actually texted me the night before to ask if I wanted to review everything ahead of time or on the day of the procedure, which I really appreciated. We exchanged a few messages, and then he spoke with me again before the procedure and explained everything clearly. He was confident, knowledgeable, and very reassuring. We went through my medical history. The more I talked with her, the more I felt that going with Gateway was an excellent decision. After several visits, everything was coming full circle. She made sure my medications were refilled, all necessary blood tests were done and Dr. Louis even had me take other tests to make sure I was healthy. Gateway Medical is a very busy facility but I have always been able to get an appointment. If I need to get a test, I'm given an in-network referral list and a summary of the visit.
