The food was hearty and homey, with generous portions. We enjoyed a burger, pulled pork sandwiches, a corn dog, fries, baked beans, and a fried peach pie with vanilla ice cream. The burger was cooked fresh and perfectly grilled. The pulled pork was smoky and tender, but the sauce was a little more vinegary than I prefer. The fries were perfectly crisp and golden. My kiddo gave a huge thumbs up for his corn dog and the beans were a hit with the baby. The peach pie tasted like something my grandma would have made, warm and sweet and comforting. Finally, after about six or seven minutes, a waitress came over and asked if I was waiting for someone. I told her no. She then asked if I could move to the counter and sit there. I told her I didn't want to move to the counter -- there was only one seat against a wall-type divider, and the space was about three feet wide. The older gentleman was not asked to move, and there was another older gentleman sitting by himself in a booth. Why was I being asked to move? I told the waitress that I would just leave, and she sarcastically said, "Well, you have a good night then." I did have a choice word to say to her as I was leaving. I really wanted to try Archie's, but I guess being young and dining alone is not welcomed here. A place like this deserves to go out of business.

The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. I ordered the pulled pork shoulder tray with two sides. If you have read my reviews, you know I only eat fries, so I doubled up the fries. You are given a number and can sit anywhere in their very big (for a BBQ joint) indoor dining area, or you can sit on a patio or outside. The walls are COVERED with pictures of old movie posters, country music stars, album covers, car tags, signs, and even a picture of the NWO (IYKYK). I didn't see the required Alabama BBQ joint picture of The Bear, Alabama football coach Paul Bryant, but with so many things on the wall, I'm sure it has to be there somewhere. There is a separate 'To-Go' spot for placing orders on the run. This also looked like a bar area as I saw advertising for alcohol. They also offer T-shirts and hats for sale if that is your thing.
