Having a blast at the Jeffco Fair and Festival! Who knew so many animals were raised in Jeffco by 4-H and FFA kids?! I loved seeing all of the alpacas and pheasants. Totally unexpected! In 2019, it is free admission for kids 12 and younger. I hope that continues.

I came for candlelit yoga. Yoga itself was enjoyable. There was a gentleman playing live music and we were all encouraged to work at our own levels wherever that may be. The instructor was pleasant and encouraging. I found her voice to be calming when I could hear it. However, there was a speed-dating event scheduled at the same time so there was a constant din of conversation noise that was loud. I have hearing issues and that level of ambient noise made it difficult for me to hear the yoga instructor even with her having a microphone. The interior of the venue is filled with installations from local artists. I would like to come back for just a social gathering. I think it would be great for that.

We had 5 pm reservations but went in closer to 6 pm, after having visited their onsite bar, the Night Owl. Their craft cocktails were great and on par with craft cocktail pricing. The staff were all really accommodating and friendly. They didn't bat an eye when we asked about timing: can we grab a drink before we go in? Sure! And the experience itself? Super creative, attention to detail all over the place. And, there are differing levels of a scavenger hunt just to make things even more interesting. The exhibits change every so often so if you haven't been to this one, def go before a new installation is added.

I have a unique perspective as I have attended for the las t2 years as a guest and this year as a staff member working with them. Linda and her husband who are the owners are some of the kindest most generous people to work. They are incredibly flexible and good hearted. The venue is beautiful. The first time we went I was a little thrown off because it's not a "beautiful" area in the middle of all the buildings. Yet, somehow, there in the middle of the concrete jungle not far from the fed center, they have created this spectacular escape that makes you feel far from it all. I don't know if the spectacular, almost European felling stone interior, the stunning chandeliers and fireplace or the little pond with the water fountain, but it makes you feel as if you are far from the rest of the world. The staff is spectacular, Ashley and Kathryn helped us develop our signature drink and mixed away like Tom Cruise in cocktail as I dipped away on about 7 different drinks that they created from my " we'd like to do something maybe like a Manhattan with apple spice" description of what we wanted. They brought us pans and mirrors that we could sue for elevation for our silent auction, they had chalk markers for signs. As they started putting the table cloths that we had picked initially and I abruptly stopped them and they upped out another option and checked to assure that we had enough for tables. Wow, they bent over backwards and really had a "we are here for you" attitude. Also, THE FOOD!! I had a fried chicken with polenta and spiced apples, we also had a pork chop as an option and a butternut squash vegetarian option YUMMY! I only ate half, and then kept trying to shove it down, because it was so good! Shout out to Tabitha who was also there to help with any needs that aired and I think it was Amanda, the sous chef that helped the day of setup. Also, one of the bar tenders whose name I didn't catch rocked it- our second bar wasn't set up, so I asked him and he got to work "full bar or wine and beer" within 30 seconds he was moving tables and bottles an probably 4 minutes later, they were set up!! That's how it's done my friends!! Thank you to the staff for making our event one for the Bridge of Hope Greater Denver record books! We couldn't have pulled it off without their generosity and cheer, and undeniable desire to serve!!

Loved our drinks. The blueberry manhattan was delicious. * Free beer with token upon check in was nice. Hydration is key. * Room was simple but had nice touches. Liked the motion sensor for the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Water in the room. * Full coffee bar on the room floor when you get off elevator. * Didn't get to use at night but the rooftop areas looked nice. At least in the morning for coffee they were * Fancy cupcakes and bubbly in the fridge was a nice surprise. The hand written welcome note was a nice touch. * Included continental breakfast had a decent breakfast burrito, parfaits, waffles and cereals. * free easy to connect WiFi * Again, last minute Sunday. Checked their site for rooms and one available, booked a corner room. The hotel called a couple hours later and said there was a mistake, I really thought they were going to tell me they had no rooms. Just has a different room, that was a bit cheaper. I think the lady calling was thinking we would be mad, it was all good. They handled it great. Can't really think of anything that needed to better- loved it and will stay again.

I loved how unique the venue was, easy to access from the highway for out of town folk, and tucked away it felt once you were inside. We got some gorgeous mountain photos! Shea was so lovely and answered any questions we had. Our guests absolutely raved and I am still getting compliments on how unique it was. I think the important thing to know with the Mansion - it is not a typical style venue and is not a good fit for certain groups. For context, we had a 120 person afternoon wedding in July (2-7pm). I did a tremendous amount of research and painstakingly picked each vendor, who all ended up working together and are incredible. If you are a bride looking for a more inclusive-everything-included style venue, this is not it. IF you are willing to do work on researching vendors, you can make the Mansion work for you at your price point and are rewarded in something more custom. It can really rack up cost wise if you use all the recommended vendors and do all the add-ons. We rented the entire space (highly recommend) so our wedding moved throughout the venue and guests got different experiences. I loved the outside ceremony and they have nice white chairs that look great in photos. Cocktail hour was outside in the gardens - so pretty still in July! The reception was inside. I loved the stone walls, very little decor is needed which is awesome. If you have over 80ish people and want a dance floor, we did have to flip some tables to make room, but our catering team did it so fast and we did the first dance outside - then conga lined the party back inside. Honestly I think more people started dancing since they already were up and moving, so it worked better than I hoped. I would pick this 10 out of 10, but like I said, I think it's good to know this is not the spot for a bride without a planner or who is willing to do her homework. Because it is a historical site, if you have a lot of custom built out decor or a large wedding or want to get ready at the venue, this is not for you. If you have under 120, want something special, and are organized (or have a good friend who is) you have found the perfect spot. Photography credit: Melina Massengill (melinamassephoto)

Where do I start? We chose Boettcher Mansion as the venue for my son's wedding on May 4th, 2024…read more What an incredible result. We had family and friends converge from all over the world to experience the best of Colorado. The weather behaved itself as well as can be expected in early May and the venue and its recommended vendors were the best that they could be! Boettcher Mansion is in a beautiful setting, allowing for an outdoor wedding with the woods as a backdrop, and cocktail hour and pictures with the sunset emerging behind the mountains. While we had just a sprinkle or two, the clouds made for a perfect vista, and if a downpour had occurred, the wedding could be quickly moved inside. We visited many potential wedding venues across the front range, including some beautiful options in Estes Park. We visited Boettcher Mansion first, and it inevitably remained our top choice as it offered several perquisites while also checking off the Bride and Groom's event venue expectations for the wedding. Ultimately, Boettcher Mansion's facility with its iconic outdoor colorado beauty, ample preparation accommodations for both the bride and groom and attendants, beautiful outdoor patio and reception space, and the ability to fully customize the event won us over. This venue provided a remote location with proximity to the Denver for out-of-town/country visitors to stay, and ease of access for all involved. As an added bonus, their fee supports Jefferson County Parks. The ability to customize every aspect of the day at first seemed daunting, but ended up being important to the special day. Boettcher Mansion hosts an annual wedding show where you can talk to all their recommended vendors. If you veer from these vendors and go your own way, you can do so for an extra fee. But by sticking with the recommended options for the major items, you will find they are very familiar with Boettcher policies, allowing you to have an efficient event on the day and secure the return of 100% of your $500 damage deposit! We chose Roots for our catering, which deserves its own special review, but for now I will say that the food and service were spectacular. The food was prepared, plated, and presented beautifully, with delicious options for everyone. The caterer also handled the sparkling toast and cocktail and wine service with their trained and certified servers, but the offerings were provided by us. We could have hired Applejack (or whomever) to deliver what we wanted, which is a huge cost savings over other venues who require the customer to use in-house service, and permits customization to personal tastes. In this case, Applejack will accept returns for any unopened bottle at the end of the night. In our case, however, the Bride and Groom selected the unique dinner wines and champagne toast from their parents' cellared wine libraries, adding a nice touch to the experience of their special day and helping to control costs even further. The Grand Piano in Boettcher Mansion's reception hall offered a special moment, when, at the Bride's request, the brother-of-the-groom played Debussy's Claire de Lune as the processional. Boettcher Mansion offers a D.J. You can provide your own music, but we found the D.J to be helpful in announcing what was to happen next, etc. He also offered a Photo Booth, which provided the Bride and Groom with a thumb drive of all their guest's funny pictures throughout the evening. Other exceptional vendors for whom I should write a separate review include Jessica Shipman, the "Day of" planner. Can't have a wedding without her! She, incredibly, planned and coordinated everything throughout the entire day, allowing all the guests and family to enjoy the event and focus on the Bride and Groom without having to be worried about actually doing any decorating or coordinating leading up to, and on the day. TeeLee Florist put together a one-of-a-kind Tower of Flowers for the alter, while we secured a beautiful and cost-effective flower package from Costco for the bulk of the floral decorations and the bouquet/corsages. We hired a shuttle service to offer for people to go up and down Lookout Mountain, for those who found the drive daunting, or out-of-towners without a car. Berg Berg Photography captured special moments throughout the event, including the sunset, and even provided special lighting for effect. Special candles handcrafted by the mother-and father-of the bride, and table number placards artfully drawn by the sister-in-law of the bride represent additional custom touches permitted by Boettcher Mansion that made the day incredibly special. In the end, our happy couple was forever touched by the gifts family and friends provided in memories we carry away from the wedding, indelibly amplified by the ambiance, staff, vendors, and personalization afforded by this incredible gem in Golden, Colorado.

I hesitate to do a review for this place or give it 5 starts because I feel by doing so I'm…read morerevealing a well kept secret and encouraging people to discover a hidden gem that may change when the crowds start coming. Goosetown Station is a unique experience. It combines the cool vibe of the grassy setting of Fiddler's Green with the experience of listening to music with friends in an intimate garden setting. The photos I've seen posted so far are misleading. They are outdated pictures of a place that no longer exists. And current pictures don't communicate the vibe. Goosetown Station has evolved to a one-of-a-kind music venue. It has a lot of moving parts that work well together to bring you a music experience that will stay with you long after you leave. But because it's always changing, evolving, improving, what I tell you about the place may change when you visit. But however the place is when you visit, you can be guaranteed your experience will be enjoyable and memorable. PARKING ======== There is parking on the street in front of Goosetown Station. The street is a dead end. If you can't find parking on that street, there is a free, open, public parking lot a 1/2 a block away. There is also public parking one block over in the other direction, across from Ford street. You can park there and walk across the footbridge to get to Goosetown Station. ADMISSION ========== When I walked up the incline to the entrance to the house I was greeted by a young woman who told me they take cash or Venmo. (I read a previous review that said they don't do cash. That's changed.) HANDICAP ACCESS ================ If you are wheelchair bound, the place is set up with no stairs leading to the house. There is seating inside the house and also a full bar and bathrooms. From the inside of the house you cannot see the stage and I'm not sure if they pipe the music from the stage into the house, but they should for those who want to sit inside. There is also comfortable seating on the side of the house in an area you walk through to get to the back where the stage is. I don't remember if there are stairs between the front entrance and this side seating area. If not, it's a comfortable, covered area where you can sit, hear the music and see the stage. SEATING AREAS ============= From the pictures I saw before I went, I imagined this place to be a house with a stage in its small backyard with a patio area to sit and watch the band. I was pleasantly shocked when I walked around the side of the house and entered the backyard. It's a huge area. There is a main grassy seating area with comfortable couches, groups of seats and lots of firepits. There is a huge tented area in one corner of the backyard. There are clusters of seats along the side and a table in a covered area with vines growing up the wall. There is a covered seating area with a firepit next to the outside bar and a large, isolated, sandy play area for children and their parents in another corner of the yard. BARS ===== There is a fully stocked bar to the right when you enter the building. There is a bar in the back and sometimes, depending on the crowds, they set up a bar in the front with beer and wine. I was able to use Apple Pay at the bar. FAMILIES WELCOME ================ This place is kid friendly. There were several young children and their parents attending the concert the night I went. As I mentioned there is a whole sandy play area with toys in a corner of the backyard. FOOD ===== They try to have food trucks to provide something to eat while you listen to music. The night I was there they were having a dispute with the city of Golden who didn't want food trucks parked on their streets (even though the street in front of Goosetown Station is a dead end.) So they offered Anthony's pizzas and had chips and hummus. The food they offer isn't meant to be your main meal as much as just something to help you not have an empty stomach if you're drinking alcohol. MUSIC ====== The quality of the band was outstanding. They played at a volume that was just enough to fill the backyard. They weren't trying to rock the neighborhood but the sound was sufficient to be heard over the quiet conversations of the guests. "THE FEEL" ========= At the risk of sounding sexist, this place feels like it was designed by women. In fact I only saw one man working the venue. He was the bartender inside. Other than that it was women attending to the visitors. I say it seems like women designed this place because it looked like it was deliberately planned to be comfortable, charming, welcoming and beautiful. The details of this place speak of someone who wants to create an atmosphere that goes beyond utility. Even the bathrooms are nicely decorated with candles burning. If you go to Goosetown Station, enjoy yourself and please don't change anything. It's perfect just the way it is. (Check out my pictures to see how this place looks now.)

Jeff Fisette and Janelle were fantastic to work with. Jeff is the food and beverage manager and so kind and charismatic and Janelle was our day of coordinator and beyond sweet. Bailey was even accommodating and friendly to work with when she needed to step in. I couldn't do a five-star review because of the event director, Macey. We began working with Savanna, which is a big reason why we booked the venue after meeting with her. I don't know where to begin with Macey. I understand she was newish at the time and maybe even was going through some personal issues. She was not only unresponsive and annoyed that I contacted her more than a couple of times but on top of that very rude to both myself and my family. Countless items that we agreed upon in the beginning of planning did not come through, and we were charged for two items we didn't receive on wedding day. When setting up the room, three hours before the ceremony (we hired a day of coordinator to do this) she told my aunt, "Good luck" and walked away. The cherry on top was when she called me at 0900 the day after our wedding to tell us to come and get the décor items left from the night before. We had previously agreed that we could leave the items there until 1pm. Upon arriving I had asked Macey why this needed to be done right now, her response: "well, I need to use my office don't I". Macey does not care about you or your event, she just wants your payment and quantity trumps quality. I know there are labor shortages but Applewood really does need to hire an event coordinator with at least some experience that kind of likes people or at least pretends to care
