She's out there in the dead of cold to care for a clients sick horse or breaking waters that have frozen. She maintains all the rings multiple times per week. During the recent barn break-ins she offered solutions for parking to keep the clients safe. If you need extra food for your horse, she has your back. My horses have never looked better and are very happy. The board is quite affordable and the amenities are huge. I've paid more at other barns and had to use portable bathrooms. The kitchen is not only heated but has a real bathroom. It makes me sad when trainers who come there to build their business end up being untruthful and don't pay their bills. It's not ok for the clients of those trainers to then leave very rude reviews. There are plenty of clients there that have been residents for MANY years and they are loyal to this barn including two large animal vets that spend so much of their time at the barn attending to the resident horses! If you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy quality time with your horse, or to have your horse in training with one of the trainers at the facility, have open space to retire an old friend, or have a box stall with a run (with self care options) this is your place and if Emily isn't available to personally give you a tour then she will find one of the friendly staff members to fill in.

Horses are well cared for, stalls are bedded with a generous amount of shavings, feed stuffs are high quality. If something breaks (as happens around horses) it is very quickly addressed. ARS has been nothing but a great experience for us. For me, one of best features about ARS is an almost complete lack of drama. People are there to enjoy their horses, not to engage in gossip and junior high foolishness. Kathleen McPhaul, one of several trainers at the facility was the subject of a negative review for ARS on this site. If you are interested in working with Kathleen I would encourage you to look at her website and look at her nearly fourth year body of work, and don't over focus on the one review from a clearly unbalanced person. Kathleen is a very effective and accomplished trainer and instructor. She has long time customers who have become friends, and have reached goals and won competitions along the way. If you are a fit for her program, you will both have a great experience with your horse. If you need a place to enjoy your horses I hope to meet you at ARS.

She worked with me to find my new horse from the very beginning until the day I brought him home. She helped me identify what kind of horse I needed and what my budget should be. She found horses through her network and asked owners questions to narrow down the horses we should see. She went with me to look at several horses and she eventually helped me make an offer and get a vet-check on the horse that became mine! She helped me learn about the process every step of the way! We booked our trip beginning of 2022-ish when they were running som specials on 2 and 3 day trips…read more I gave the information to my girl scouts and had a couple that wanted to go. I was not initially supposed to be the adult going with. I have a fear of bigger and faster rapids....... However stuff happened and it ended up being me. From the beginning they were easy to work with. I had made a tentative reservation online but we didn't have quite enough people. However our trip was early in the season. I called after a couple of days to see if they thought we would be a go. They opted to run the trip for us since we were early season. They did keep it up for others to potentially join but no others did. Which is unfortunate. Our experience was great! They sent plenty of email communications as it got closer including asking about dietary needs and then reminders. When we arrived we got there an hour early as instructed in the email. They checked us in. Got us a dry bag and our tokens for getting the wet suit. We went and packed our dry bags. And then picked up our wet suits and went to the bathrooms to change. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. The wet suits dont have the arms and neck so you would want to wear a non cotton shirt underneath or be sure to wear a lot of sunscreen (if you are renting a wet suit. We were early season and it was recommended to us) Turbo, the driver came out to chat with us as we were waiting and gave a pep talk. Through our chat he had found out I was nervous. Appreciated the pep talk. Our guides, Kat and Gregg were professional and knowledgable about rafting. Kat shared quite a bit of some of the cool history of the area. Gregg really try to engage my quiet and introverted girls. Being that we were doing a 2 day trip there was food involved. We had 3 of us who have celiacs and then one who is also vegan and one who is also vegetarian. They were able to accomodate our needs with really yummy, delicious and filling food. Gregg and Kat prepared all our meals. Honestly we all felt a little bad we are used to being doers. It was weird to have someone else doing all the work. But they did a great job and the food was yummy and satisfying! They also had some desert available at times and hot drinks. Was so thankful that they did such a good job with the food. Sometimes places can't get it right when you have a gluten free and vegan combo. That was not the case here. They did a great job!! Our camping area was lovely. There was a little bit of hiking available. But they also brought some games that we played for a bit. It was nice and relaxing. The next day going through the canyon was definitely a lot of fun. As with most companies they do take some pics of your ride, if you want pics be sure to stop back by the front desk after your experience. You wont be sorry this is a great company.
