Susan M. Duncan Family YMCA - Weight Lifting

Susan M. Duncan Family YMCA

Reading through these reviews I realized many are 7 or 8 years old and are inaccurate in their…read moredescriptions..So this is as much a public service than it is a review. This is an exceptionally well rounded Y, aimed at families and consistent with the YMCA's core values. Genuinely friendly staff, many active classes serving a wide range of individuals. From spinning classes to Silver Sneakers and everything in between. Good childrens programs, nicely maintained pools and good machines, free weights etc. The locker rooms are clean and well maintained. The target here is clearly maintaining a healthy lifestyle in a relaxed atmosphere. It's probably not the best choice for preeners and hard core lifters, although they have a good array of equipment. Especially nice is the Egym setup that has a 9 machine circuit where you spend a session with a Y advisor that shows you proper use of each machine while setting up each machine to your personal settings. You are given a coded wrist band that contains your information and it reads your info at each machine through a video screen and sets the weights to your capabilities that are measured in your setup session. It also increases your weights incrementally over time as you improve. Once again, geared towards long term health. Seniors seem to really appreciate the set routine that works all the muscle groups safely. Many health and well being classes and seminars are offered also. From nutrition advice to cooking seminars.. Truly a nice, healthy approach to self improvement.

Kate sits in the office all day on her phone, Tyco takes up all the space in the back gym w no consideration of the other members who also want to use that space. There's no member engagement, smiling faces, consideration for others use of the equipment. I had a great experience with Derek who showed me how to use & interpret the results from the in body scan. He has helpful, friendly & had a great attitude. It's a shame how much turn over & the quality has gone downhill. The pool is always closed, the e gym takes up so much space in an already small gym. Cardio equipment is always down.

Standley Lake Stables - Happy people and horses

If I could give more stars I would. Emily Honeyman as a manager goes above and beyond the call of…read moreduty. She's out there in the dead of cold to care for a clients sick horse or breaking waters that have frozen. She maintains all the rings multiple times per week. During the recent barn break-ins she offered solutions for parking to keep the clients safe. If you need extra food for your horse, she has your back. My horses have never looked better and are very happy. The board is quite affordable and the amenities are huge. I've paid more at other barns and had to use portable bathrooms. The kitchen is not only heated but has a real bathroom. It makes me sad when trainers who come there to build their business end up being untruthful and don't pay their bills. It's not ok for the clients of those trainers to then leave very rude reviews. There are plenty of clients there that have been residents for MANY years and they are loyal to this barn including two large animal vets that spend so much of their time at the barn attending to the resident horses! If you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy quality time with your horse, or to have your horse in training with one of the trainers at the facility, have open space to retire an old friend, or have a box stall with a run (with self care options) this is your place and if Emily isn't available to personally give you a tour then she will find one of the friendly staff members to fill in.

The facility is well-kept with an abundance of amenities, including access to trails around Standley Lake. I've been searching for a long time for a no-drama, no-fuss, horse-focused boarding facility for many years and have finally found it with Honeyman Horses

Primrose School at Candelas

Primrose School at Candelas

This is the tale of two children. One of my children doesn't have behavioral issues and the other…read moredoes. We were grateful to find space at Primrose when it first opened and the first few months were great but we quickly realized that this school had a staffing problem when teachers began to leave. I am going to start with my more recent experience with Primrose as I do think they are starting to get things under control. My daughter is very social and agreeable and shined at Primrose. She regularly was praised via "Happygrams" and made some of her best friends here. In the past year, she has pretty much kept the same teachers and has done well in Pre-K. We had a rocky start with lots of change over in teachers, front desk staff, and directors in the beginning but I feel like Primrose is starting to hit their stride. It seems like the directors are on top of things and Ms Anakay and Ms Raelynn deserve a special shout out for their work at the school as we wouldn't have stayed without them. My son's experience was the polar opposite. My son went through 3 teachers in the first 8 months the school was opened. When an inexperienced teacher became the lead teacher, my then 5 year old son was disciplined unfairly by being separated from the group, told to eat lunch facing the back of the room away from his peers, and I was given notices to sign in front of him every day. All of the kids pegged him as a bad kid and wouldn't play with him, after being his friend prior. We are still dealing with self worth from this time period. I brought up bringing in a therapist to watch the class to management, I brought up what was being done in the classroom only to find that they were not keeping good records on his behavior, etc. When I talked to the director (who has since been let go) she talked me out of seeking help from Brain Balance. Luckily we quickly pulled him from the school and got him into therapy. The support we feel from his current school is amazing by contrast. Ultimately I think this school is great if you have a kid that is by the book. My daughter was very happy there and felt safe. I think she got a good education as well. However, if you have a child that has behavioral challenges I would look elsewhere. The damage done to my child has taken years to reverse from and could have been rectified with better communication, policy, and teachers. They are just not well equipped to handle this kind of student, and at least in my experience there was no way for us to move forward without pulling him immediately even though that meant us having to take unexpected leave from work to accommodate. I would like to see the owners really look at how to retain their good people. When schools like this are started for more of a financial incentive than an education based incentive, I could tell the difference with the way the staff turned over. Our last school had 1 teacher leave in 3 years. We watched many of our favorite teachers at this school move on over the years and it would be a shame to lose those who keep the spirit of Primrose going.

We have nothing but good things to say about primrose candelas!…read moreOur daughter started when she was 9 months old, our son at 13 weeks old and we have had such a great experience with both children being there. The teachers and staff are outstanding and all so caring! I always know my kids are in good hands with the Prinrose staff. It is incredible how much the kids learn; we have been so impressed with their curriculum! My daughter (now 2.5) has learned so much and I know she will be more than prepared by the time she goes off to kindergarten! If you are considering enrolling your child in a daycare in the Northwest Arvada area, I would highly recommend looking into Primrose Candelas.
