I have passed Jefe Paletas many times and always wanted to stop by. When I went in the place was packed. It was obvious that this place is very popular. I didn't know what to get. When it comes to desserts I normally choose chocolate flavors. One thing I noticed was that the majority of the flavors are fruit flavors. I'm not opposed to fruit flavors but I saw a cookies and cream (Oreo) ice cream which looked delicious. I decided to get the Oreo cup. I'm not sure the exact size I ordered but it was at least 2 or 3 scoops. It was less than $7. I took my order home and I can say that this ice cream was very tasty. It was very rich but not overwhelmingly sweet. I definitely want to try more flavors. read more

I visited Jefe Paletas one afternoon to grab a quick snack. The shop was quaint and quiet. I was immediately greeted upon entering and he told me he would be right with me as his was checking out another customer. I browsed around the shop to look at the different popsicles available. The owner then gave me the deets on all the different choices available. I chose the Mangonado and it was delightful. I also purchased a few popsicles to take home. My favorite was the biscoff popsicle. No more grocery stores popsicles for me. read more

We stopped by late after dinner so they had stopped making crepes, and I got the sorbetnada with mango and strawberry sorbet. The chamoy was sweet and sour and very salty. I'd prefer less of it, but it went really well with the strawberry sorbet. The is also fun but a bit heavy for me. It's a large portion and was topped with fresh strawberries and mango. We went to go back and get the popsicles and crepes! They look so good. read more

I LOVE this gem!! Everything is delicious. Have been going here religiously ever since i found this spot! I do have to say however, what's up with all the new employees? They need to be trained on customer service. They stare HARD when we walk in as if they don't want us there. The esquites are WATERY and they put very little toppings. It used to not be like this but lately the service is really turning me away and making me not want to come back. Please fix bc I love this place and telling everyone about it! read more

I always drive by this shop but never stopped, until recently! I'm so glad I did. I LOVE chamoy and Tajin and I'm a sucker for a Good Mangonada, they did not disappoint. I got the Jefe Cup and it was HUGE. $21 for two cups. My friend got their Oreo ice cream/gelato and loved it. I can't wait to go back for the gourmet pops, I've heard great things. Definitely going here often. read more

I would rate this place more of a 3.75 but it's still a pretty decent spot! The good: The chicharron preparado was super good, although I would recommend either eating it there or asking for the toppings on the side (if possible) because it gets soggy FAST. I made the mistake of getting it to-go and by the time I got home, the entire center was soggy so I just ate the toppings and the non-soggy parts in the corner. Don't do what I did lol. The agua de frutas is also good, but not what I'm used to in terms of agua de fruta. It's more on the peach and yogurty side. Still good! Just not what I was expecting. Now, the last thing I got was a sandia loca. It was served on a frozen wedge of watermelon. The candy was fine of course, but the diced fruit and veggies weren't the freshest and I found myself really just eating the candy. It costs $9.99 which is a decent price for a sandia loca but not for the quality of the fruit. I'd like to come back and try the esquites and other agua frescas though! read more

I've been here several times, staff is super friendly. The place is very clean. They have a lot of variety of Paletas. They make all of their own Paletas, icecream and sorbets there. My kids' favorite are the Oreo paletas and the strawberry paleta that is water based. They also like the cookies and cream icecream in a cup and they like to add toppings. My favorite paleta flavors are the pasión fruit water based and the coconut milk based paleta. Ive also had the key lime pie flavor paleta and it was delicious! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the other flavors. read more

Awesome addition to the Mobile area! Unique, Mexican style dessert & treats. Stopped in one afternoon, no line which was great so we didn't feel rushed to ask questions about the menu. All of their ice cream/sorbert/popsicles are made in house - they are all so good! I obviously haven't tried every flavor but I'm going to try! I went with the cookies & cream ice cream, very very good. Hubs got a coconut ice cream which isn't strong in the coconut flavor but that's how he likes it. Also got a key lime Popsicle (DELICIOUS!!) to go, they said I could store it in my freezer and they weren't wrong! I actually ended up forgetting it was there for a couple days, ate it about 4 days after we bought it and it looked and tasted fresh! Very dangerous to know that I can store the popsicles at home..haha! One thing I like about this place is the menu is very unique and creative, my only critique is that they need more visual displays of some of the things they offer because words don't do it justice. If you haven't already, I recommend you follow Jefe Paletas on instagram and you'll see what I'm talking about. 10/10 recommend. read more

The mangonada is beautiful but had a bit too much Tajin for my liking. The horchata is delicious. My husband got watermelon sorbet (or whatever they call it) it was good, tasted exactly like fresh watermelon. My children tried bubblegum and fruity pebbles iced pops. While they weren't fans of the bubble gum, the fruity pebbles was a hit. The staff is friendly and helpful and the place is clean. read more

Off CottageHill near University Blvd. Easy in and out! Jefe (I am assuming pronounced "Hefay") Paletas is a fun deluxe popsicle shop and mexican street snack spot! Check out their FB page before you come because the menu is a bit confusing for us... ahem... non-latinos. We had a large group so lots to report here. Choose btwn cream or water based popsicles. Our group had peaches and cream and biscoff (cookie). Both fresh and delicious. Super cold and refreshing. Not too sweet. I think the idea behind a paletas is fresh with no added sugar- perfect naturally! Fresas (strawberry) and cream cup was a large portion and also fresh. Mexican corn cup was warm, creamy, crunchy and spicy- not for the novice. BUT the MANGONADA was THE treat to get here! Not cheap...$7-10 but large portion of fresh mango chunks and mango puree with a tangy, spicy drizzle sauce and a straw wrapped in a freshly made "Fruit Roll Up" encrusted with a tangy, spicy seasoning (Tajin Clasico). To the onlooker it could be mistaken for jerky but it is most definitely not. This is a must have- it will blow your taste buds away! They also have regular ice cream and cones to cover the non-adventurous types. The only drawback- the dining area needs some flair. Chairs are a bit rickety and only one trash can, hard to tell which door to enter in also. Non-coordinated utensil containers etc...You can see the assembly kitchen which has its pros and cons. This will not stop us from returning, however, by any means! I actually have the pineapple coconut cream popsicle on my list for next time....and another Mangonada. read more

Came here twice in the last few days, and each experience was... some parts were good, and some were bad, let's put it that way. The Oreo and salted caramel brownie flavours were great. The first time around, the lady helping us, after returning a fruit cup that was painfully salty, put a fresh lid on and took it into the back. That alone was kind of concerning. But, because the popsicles were good, we decided to give it another shot. This time, there were two other ladies working, different from the first. The woman helping us was eating when we walked in and did not wash her hands before handling our food. Our baby got the fruity pebble popsicle and it was... very odd. It was strangely soggy but also stale in texture. After she took about three bites, she decided she couldn't get through it and asked to trade for another. We (the parents) communicated that the texture was strange and our baby would not eat it. The response from this woman, on 22 July at around 5:10-5:20 was "you would have to buy another one, there is no way I can possibly just give it, I just can't." After it had barely been touched by a child. I understand that it cannot be resold, but this level of unfriendly service paired with uncleanliness has motivated us to not return. If you do not care about customer service and cleanliness--go for it, I suppose. Disappointed. read more
