Now the down fall was their was only a port of potty bathroom and no faucet water. Their happen to be a lot of bees but I think that could be normal. Also, the ride down is really rocky and should probably be paved or at least put down a full gravel road. Overall I like this campground j just need to be more prepared but im not sure if I would spend the night being their isn't showers.

The area is clean and the bathrooms are not horrible. The river is really fresh and runs fast. I like coming down with my friends and swimming in the river for the day. The rangers were nice and we had a ton of fun. Perfect for small groups or those who want to be farther from the crowds. If you take two or more cars, be sure to fill out the day passes for each. Don't fill out one with all the license plates, each car needs it's own. Perfect for a chill day at the river.

The bathrooms are so old, sloppy paint, loose shower heads, no where to set your wash rags or shampoo or soap and to top it off they are .25cents a minute. Lake access isn't very good there's one small beach . I would say if you just want to get away and enjoy some peaceful time it's ok, but don't have high expectations for the facility. Not many activities. Tiny store that closes really early.

Afterwards, she copiously explained using the El Dorado County Transit's ADA Bus Transit Card, she gave me an El Dorado County Transit's bus schedule then, she gave me the Sacramento Bus Authority's bus schedule, explaining the cost riding both bus transit systems, and more importantly, instructions refilling the ADA Bus Transit Card for bus fares. There were no showers at this location and only vault toilets, which I was weary of. Even so, it wasn't too bad as we were there only two nights. It got quite dark at night, especially since there was a fire restriction- no campfire. There aren't any hiking trails that I know of, but there is a reservoir close by if you want to swim or do other water activities. Be aware there is very limited cell phone coverage and there are no stores close by.

We brought jet skis and rafts and did not get to use them. Our first night went smoothly, not too chilly and our campsite was clean and dry and we loved our fire pit. However, the weather changed in the early morning the following day and it proceeded to pour down the rest of the weekend. It was 50 degrees or less with wind and we were trying to get on the lake, it's also important to note that there is a bit of a current, so visitors should be careful, especially with children. Our camp host Michael was friendly overall and helpful when we ran out of lighter fluid. I can not stress this enough; create a checklist and pack accordingly!!! There is no store except back in Foresthill, an hour and a half drive up the windy roads. Double up on the essentials like fire wood, lighter fluid, gas for coals, and hand sanitizer! I found it odd that there were some bathrooms with sinks and others without. Also, there are one toilet bathrooms and bathrooms with 2 stalls, but you have to look all over for them. I was grateful we had no wildlife run ins except for the occasional raccoon and giant spider. It's a very remote and quiet campground, I loved that we had no reception because it's forced our group to be present and enjoy the wilderness. I don't know if I would return to this campground because of the bathrooms and it's distance on windy narrow roads, but it was an experience I am glad I had!

Just returned from Wench Creek and had a great time!…read more 1. Sites are first come, first serve. Its a large campground so not finding a spot would be surprising. We arrived and quickly found a spot that we liked. Camp Host Dave came up and greeted us and helped up check in right at the site which was nice. He was very nice and said he had been at this location just this year. Our car battery was dead and he kindly helped us with a jump. 2. Sites along the lower loop near the water are LARGE and pretty private. Our site (Number 73) was in close proximity to the bathrooms and water spigot and had a private trail to the beach/lake. Site 84 is nice too with a beach view and easy water access. We will probably stay there next time. 3. The lake was great for swimming. Clean, clear water that was not cold. Our entire family (including our dog) swam for hours. Bring a tube to float on! 4. This campground is QUIET. I know it depends on the groups camping but it was very very quiet every night at 8pm. My husband and I felt bad quietly playing our country music because it was that quiet. 5. Bears will come through here. We were sitting by the fire at 11:30 and I saw a giant moving black blob with glowing eyes and we turned our flashlight on and yep.. Bear. Throw your trash away and put your food in your cars! 6. My ONLY gripe was that this campground seems to have a Yellowjacket problem. There were lots everywhere. With that being said, we were there two nights and none of us got stung. Maybe bring a few Yellowjacket traps to hang on the trees around camp. 7. No showers but they are a quick drive up the road at Fashoda. The closest store is Ice House Resort which is about 15 minutes away. We will be back!

We have been here 4 months and we love this place, its clean, well spaced, Glenn delivers mail and packages to our door, the landscapers are always keeping the grounds groomed and trash free. Made reservation for campsite 16 for 5/26-5/28. Was a little bummed that the weather was going to…read morebe shoddy (raining the whole time), but I was still stoked to be able to spend a couple nights solo camping. Night one went fine, lots of rain but kept a nice fire in the provided fire pit where I was able to stay warm and mostly dry. However, a Ranger showed up on 5/27 around 2pm and told me there was a fire ban in effect and I needed to extinguish my fire. In the rain. In the provided fire pit. I went to the Mineral Bar website- nothing but instructions to use provided pits. Went to Reserve California- ditto. Decided I couldn't make a mid 40 degree night with no fire in the pouring rain so I quickly packed up and left- but not before being absolutely drenched in the DOWNPOUR. I called Reserve California and she said "there's a ban every year 6/16-10/15" to which I said "great! It's May" Finally googled "fire ban mineral bar campground" when I got home and they posted a ban 5/26 (the day I got there). No notices displayed at campsite. No information given but ruining a camp trip I so desperately needed for my mental health. Will never return, even for day camping. This was a favorite spot before that.
