Buyer Beware -- Extremely Disappointing Experience and Customer Service…read more I had this shop perform a full transmission rebuild on my 2017 GMC Yukon 5.3L at approximately 155,000 miles. The rebuild included replacing the TEHCM and installing an upgraded torque converter. The shop offered a 3-year/30,000-mile warranty. At approximately 209,000 miles, I returned to the same shop for a transmission fluid service. At 226,450 miles, the transmission began experiencing shifting issues, with delayed shifts between first and second gear and the RPMs climbing to nearly 3,000 before shifting properly. I brought the Yukon back to the same shop that performed the rebuild, expecting a professional diagnosis and a reasonable discussion about the situation. Instead, I was told they would not cover the repair under warranty and that I should be pleased the transmission lasted 71,000 miles. Their proposed solution? Pay another $3,995 to have them fix the transmission they had already rebuilt. Let that sink in. A customer pays for a complete transmission rebuild, drives approximately 71,000 miles, and is then essentially told that is good enough and to pay thousands more. I understand that warranties have limits, and I understand that vehicles with high mileage can develop problems. My frustration is not simply that a transmission developed an issue. It is the attitude, the lack of meaningful goodwill toward a returning customer, and the way this situation was handled. Things got even more concerning when I told them I would pick up the vehicle and trade it in rather than give them another $3,995. The owner then offered to buy the Yukon for $3,500. I countered at $4,000, essentially the same amount they wanted to charge me for the repair. When that didn't work out, I offered $2,500 for the repair instead. That was rejected as well. The entire interaction left me feeling that customer loyalty meant very little to this business once another substantial payment was on the table. After spending money with them for a full rebuild and subsequent service, I had no confidence in handing them thousands more to repeat the same job.

I took my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee to this shop on 1/8/24. My Jeep would not switch gears so…read moreCharles told me to leave it there and he'd check it out for me. Charles called me within the hour and let me know that my Jeep needed a transmission. He sent me a picture of the transmission fluid and explained that he had discovered that the transmission fluid was a pink milky color; water had gotten into the transmission and ruined it. The Jeep was initially supposed to be out by 1/20/24 but, due to inclement weather and delivery issues with the transmission, it took a bit longer before I got my Jeep back. I picked up the Jeep as soon as Charles let me know that it was ready. I am happy to say that the Jeep is running like new again. Thank you Charles, for getting my Jeep on the road again. Also, thank you for deducting the extra amount that I spent for the rental, from my final repair bill. If your vehicle has any transmission problems, take it to Charles at AAMCO on Garland Rd in Dallas.

Extremely Disappointed With the Service and Lack of Accountability…read more I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at this AAMCO location due to repeated delays, ongoing repair issues, and a lack of a clear timeline for completing the work. In mid-September, I had my vehicle at the Nissan service department and began calling around to compare repair estimates. An AAMCO representative advised me that I would be overcharged at the dealership, so I decided to give AAMCO an opportunity to handle the repairs. They even arranged to pick up my vehicle, which gave me confidence that I was making the right decision. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward repair has turned into a prolonged and frustrating experience. I was initially told my vehicle was ready in early October. However, as soon as I moved it, the CVT system warning appeared. I was then informed that the transmission they had just replaced needed to be replaced again. After the additional transmission replacement, a programming issue required the vehicle to be taken to the Nissan service department. When the vehicle returned to AAMCO, I was informed that another part had been damaged during the transmission replacement and required additional attention. As of October 26, my vehicle had been at the shop for over a month and was still not repaired and available for use. Throughout this process, I have dealt with repeated delays, additional repair complications, and no reliable completion date. What has made this experience even more frustrating is being told, in effect, that I have no choice but to deal with the situation, despite the inconvenience and the amount of time I have already waited. I have now made the decision to remove my vehicle from AAMCO and return it to the Nissan service department, meaning I will have to pay out of pocket again to move forward with the necessary repairs. I understand that unexpected complications can arise during vehicle repairs. However, I also expect clear communication, accountability, reasonable timelines, and a genuine effort to resolve issues when they occur. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. I appreciate the assistance provided in arranging the initial pickup and attempting the repairs, but the extended wait, repeated complications, and lack of a definitive completion date are unacceptable. I can no longer afford to leave my vehicle at a facility that cannot provide a reasonable timeline for getting it back on the road. Based on my experience, I would caution others about choosing this location if they depend on their vehicle for daily transportation and need reliable repair timelines and communication. I went to AAMCO hoping to save money compared with the dealership, but the experience has resulted in significant delays, additional expenses, and considerable frustration. Overall, this has been a disappointing experience, and I expected much better service, communication, and accountability.
