Wish I could leave a review but after 25 minutes no one took my order and I ordered a shot to go of reposado to go as a chaser with my drink but yet again that did not show up. On a cool Sunday my wife and I stopped for dinner, we have been wanting to go here for years. We each had a drink, red Sangria and a Strawberry Margarita, both were good. The service was spot on, no rush and no delay in getting to us. We sat outside as to enjoy the day, even with a little traffic it was just fine, the noise from next door was a bit much but we just chose to ignore it. The food, we both had pork, my wife had Sopas and I had Enchilada, I chose to have the mole sauce...I was so impressed! The flavors of everything were so good, the server was friendly and took time to talk about the meal with us. We will be going back...maybe when we know the place next door doesn't have someone trying to yell out their music...GO support JC's!! read more

What a hidden gem! I was at nearby dentist's office and thought it looked cute. Beautiful flowers and ivy and lights. Not only did it look cute, but the food was amazing! Very fresh and authentic. My friend had the enchiladas and I had the al pastor tacos. The spices in the pork tacos were so incredible. We then had a flan which was lovely and light. We loved our food! The staff were so friendly and helpful. I live in the city, but wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often! read more

The best food in Bartlett. The Creamy Ranchero is the absolute best. Don't forget about the amazing guacamole either.

My friend and I went here last week. Upon entering we were the only customers. Service was extremely slow. Maybe they are shorthand like a lot of places. We'll give them that. They give you a very small cup of salsa which was very bland. The chip basket was extremely small. Hardly enough for the sales we ordered which was very bland also. I ordered a pork enchilada that had cubes of pork. We've been here before. Its been good. I don't know what happened. But I don't think we'll be going back. They are not inexpensive. read more

We did carry out, our first experience with this restaurant. Both of us had the Chimichanga with Spanish rice and refried beans. Have never had Chimichanga served with a cheese sauce, unfortunately lots of sauce making the crispy fried tortilla we were expecting soft. Disappointing! read more

We lived in Bartlett for about 5 years now and this is our first check in. Wished we checked in the first time we looked for a nice Mexican restaurant near by! As usual you will receive your chips and salsa it was very good. Everything in the menu looked authentic, so we ordered the shrimp with bell peppers. The little one ordered out of the kids menu and she got the baby burrito and fries. She is a very picky eater and she took the first bite and feel in love. While we received the pan-seared Shrimp dish. The shrink melted in our month like butter. Nicely refreshing and the seasoning was fire! Will definitely come back! Not super impressed. I've been going here off and on for several years. I remember it being better in the past. I got a jumbo burrito which was ok, but I've had better at many other places. The Missus had a pastor taco bowl, which she also said was ok. She tells me the margaritas are great. The esquite was literally just corn and most likely canned corn at that....extremely disappointing. Refried beans were good. The price was good. 40 bucks for two meals, a kids meal and a drink. I wish I had something witty or funny to say here but the place is just.....ok. Not a lot to work with. I can think of two places within 5 minutes that are better. read more

We were in the mood for Mexican and when our standard place closer to home was closed (I guess we'd never tried to eat there on a Monday before) we wandered a few more minutes down the road to JC's (thank you, Yelp!). SO glad for this happy accident as I think this will be our new regular place for Mexican. It's a cute little place and when you are seated you might feel a bit odd, like you are walking through someone's house as you pass through the register/galley area to the main dining room. They have a great menu and it was difficult to decide on just one thing so I tried two! The owner warned me it would be a lot of food but I assured her I wanted the leftovers. I tried an al Pastor (pork in red sauce) Sope and a Chicken Burrito. The al Pastor was so tender and flavorful, the Sope was perfect! I thought the chicken in my burrito was a bit on the salty side but it might not always be that way. Their prices are VERY reasonable...and you can order just one of this and one of that so you can sample different things rather than being stuck ordering just tacos or a burrito. We also tried their margaritas and they were good as well, not shy with the tequila at all. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was spotless. Yes, it did take a little longer for our food to come out but it's to be expected from a smaller place during the dinner rush. Just relax, munch on their great chips and salsa and sip your margarita while you wait for your dinner. read more

Pleasant surprise within walking distance of our home...score! I tried JC's about two years ago with my son. The most memorable part was the super sweet waitress. The food was forgettable at the time and I have driven past hundreds of times since. Last week, the hubby and I were trying to decide on something different for dinner. I remembered JC's and said we could give them a try. I'm so glad that we did! When you walk in, you really don't know where to go. It looks like a carry out counter with a small waiting area. The layout is awkward, so just walk in and head back then around to the left. Still weird, but at least you will find the people back here. Set in a small, but bright and clean dining room are maybe a dozen tables. JC's is about Mexican comfort food in a cozy environment. The waitress was just as sweet as I had remembered. And she made excellent suggestions. He tried a dish that came with skirt steak and a cheese enchilada. He loved both! Rice and beans also arrived on the plate. He ate all of them and said he wished the serving size of the side dishes was a bit bigger. I tried the, waitress suggested, shrimp and garlic dish with lots of spices. Very tasty when I wrapped it in a corn tortilla. For me, it was a strange looking dish. I opted for all rice and no beans. Everything on the plate was orange. Not pretty to look at, but pretty tasty. Our glasses were kept full and the food arrived hot. Dirty dishes were promptly cleared. I'd say JC's was much more memorable this time and we will head in again soon. read more

I have been here twice now and the first time I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to JC's. Sadly, it seems I have a bit of food poisoning from my second visit. I can safely tell you that because I didn't eat one single other thing the day of our recent visit, I'm forced to conclude this issue to be from my meal at JC's from the other night. The layout of this place is way confusing. When you walk in, someone should be there to greet you, but instead, we walked in to what appears to be an empty lobby and small unused dining area to your right. There is also a counter that I can only assume was once used for take out orders but they are using it for their drink mixing machines. Eventually, someone will appear to greet you as it appears they have it down to a science of occasionally peeking around the corner to see if anyone has walked in. Maybe a bell is in order, JC's? The menus are, shall we say, "well used"? Ok, they are falling apart. Both my husband's and my menu came apart in our hands. The mild salsa they serve is a little bland and needs salt which thankfully can be found on the white linen tablecloth covered table. Their chips are not made in house but they do serve them warm which is a nice touch! I asked for their hot salsa the other night and was given a ketchup bottle of what appeared to be a green salsa but because the bottle was quite dirty, I decided not to even use it. I was a little grossed out, truth be told. The husband ordered steak fajitas which looked AMAZING and I chose the enchiladas and mixed up two chicken and one steak. The food came out unequivocally fast. It was faster than most drive thru spots. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed but after dinner, realized that I wasn't feeling well and I can only figure that maybe some of my chicken may have been undercooked? I tasted my husband's fajitas and they were cooked nicely and served with the perfect amount of peppers and onions. They are a little stingy with their rice but maybe I'm just use to other places serving a larger portion. The service was excellent the first time we came here and quite lacking on our most recent visit. We had to flag down a server for refills but they were quick to clear the tables. Almost as though, they wanted us in and out. I'm happy to have a clear table but when they take plates that are still being used, I'm not as happy! After feeling unwelcome, we were then quick to get the bill and get out of there. Unfortunately, I'm not in a big hurry to return. read more

We have eaten here many, many times and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it before. We LOVE JC's. Their service is sweet and sincere - they are appreciative that you are there. The owner always takes time out of her schedule to come talk to us and make us feel welcome. My husband loves the Steak a la Mexicana, and I always get the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. Best mole sauce I've had in the Chicagoland area. It's consistent. Other restaurants let it reduce with time and it gets thick and pungent and burnt tasting. Not JC's. The only downside is it can get very loud in there - they have hardwood floors and nothing to absorb noise. One night we were there I could hear the woman across the restaurant better than my husband who was right across from me. But that's kind of the charm of the place - at times it gets loud because people are having fun. So if you want a nice, quiet dinner, go here early or on a weekend afternoon. It's also fun to sit and watch all of Bartlett walk and bike past the windows the face both south and west. Enjoy! read more

Had the Sope dinner, I definitely prefer the thinner Tostada as a vehicle for the toppings. I also believe the steak is different than what I've had before, it was bigger chunks as opposed to more of a skirt steak. Didn't care for this steak, the chicken is the way to go here. read more

Great food and service! Our go to restaurant for take out and dine in. Burritos, sopas and tacos are amazing!

First time here and I'll definitely be back. Owner was also our server and she couldn't be nicer! Both my friend and I really enjoyed our marinated skirt steak with grilled onions. Conversation pretty much stopped as we devoured our food. It's not easy to get this friend quiet! It was a Sunday evening and not very busy. We were seated right away. And food didn't take long at all. Can't wait to come back and try the skirt steak with cheese and peppers! read more

As locals, my husband and I frequent this fine establishment. We have also settled on our favorite meals right away, which are so good, it is hard for us to try other things on the menu, which, I'm sure, are also quite delicious. I pretty much always order the chicken chimichanga and a house margarita on the rocks, with salt. It's just so perfect! It's a cozy little place with cheerful decor and friendly wait staff. I am also thrilled to find out that they don't mindlessly throw straws into every drink, like SOME restaurants (ahem, just down the street). I know some people like or need straws, but not everyone does, and I can do without. Helps to reduce waste and to prevent endangering wildlife. But I digress. I came here with the family and we were served pretty average food. The house salsa and chips were okay. The chips were warm and crunchy but the salsa had a very strong clove taste that overpowered the fresh tomato and cilantro flavors. We had a strawberry mojito and mango margarita. I did not like that they used table salt for the glass rim but enjoyed that actual fruit was used for the margarita. The guacamole appetizer was pretty good and the size was really reasonable. We ordered quesadilla, fajitas and spinach enchiladas and none of the items had a wow factor. Low likelihood that we would return. read more

This place is a hidden gem. We ordered several items, from the menu, and everything was great. The carne asada roja was absolutely BOMB! The meat was tender, had a strong grilled flavor, was topped with cheese and poblano peppers. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The owners/staff are sweet, kind and welcoming. JCs is a nice addition to downtown Bartlett! The food here is pretty average, typical for most Mexican restaurants. Their guac is definitely worth trying. They have a mix of different flavors for margaritas that make the drink even better! The place is pretty small inside and service is usually ok. This is standard fare, and the flan was so incredibly tasteless I was angry while I was eating it. Whipped cream would help tons. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. People were really nice. Cute little place and you can sit outside. The train got to be really obnoxious. Is there a time of day that trains don't go by? I guess, if I didn't have Flan at La Tosca in Arlington Heights (no, I am not a spy), I would have been just unimpressed. For the calories, I'd like to be impressed. Someone said the mole was great. It was good. But it was sweet. Not my type of mole. Spicy, yes; sugar no. We ordered steak enchiladas and got chicken. They were too busy and the service too slow for us to want to fix that, so we didn't say anything. Guacamole. Just OK. There was not salt on the table. That would have helped bring out some flavor. Margarita. Also, just ok. I don't think there was much alcohol in it. I didn't even get chatty. It isn't a bad place. Better than the other mexican restaurant in the area. Go here Bartlett peoples, but I think it is over-rated here. ...so you know and are not disappointed. read more

I have eaten at JC's at least a dozen times and I have never left unsatisfied. Admittedly, the food is not necessarily exceptional, but I haven't found a restaurant yet that I would describe that way. The food is certainly very good and unmatched in the immediate area. I think a lot of people develop their taste for a specific style of Mexican food and measure all others based on those expectations, but if you look at the food in terms of presentation, technique, and quality of ingredients JC's rates very highly. The dining space is small and with a nearby train station it can certainly be noisy; some may find this a nuisance while others allow it to add to its personality. Without any doubt the service is remarkable and for me that is what makes a great place -- I can usually make better food in my kitchen but that's not why I dine out. If you like chorizo I think JC's is top rate; they also have good chile rellenos, chicken fajitas, taco salad, and enchiladas. Their sopapilla is a tasty treat, too. Truthfully, I haven't had anything here that I wouldn't order again. Portions are generous and prices are good. This is a great place to sit outside on a warm summer evening or for lunch on a breezy afternoon -- just remember the proximity to the train. read more
