I scheduled an appointment a week an advance for a standard wash, cut, and style with Leah for today - I've had great experiences with her in the past. As I'm driving to my appointment, I get a call 12 minutes beforehand saying Leah called out sick - understandable - and asking if I would be willing to reschedule for 2 and a half hours later with Julia. I reluctantly agreed despite having to move some plans around. I arrive at the scheduled time, and I'm looked at strangely by 3 different stylists. It turns out that my old appointment was deleted, and no one rescheduled it in their system OR bothered to check if Julia had an opening. Julia was very apologetic because she had no idea that this even happened. I expressed my frustration (not at Julia, but at the situation), and left, because my time had been wasted. As I was walking away, several of the stylists were laughing. TLDR - Some stylists are great, others severely lack professionalism and attention to detail. Look elsewhere. read more

Very friendly highly recommend Amanda and Krissi for my alt hair and color! Amazing friendly staff and vibes!

DONT COME HERE. This is a REAL haircut I was given at JCP Salon in Tacoma. WHO certifies these people? I'm getting this fixed at Gene Juarez tomorrow. JCP Hairdressers are a shame. read more

Be forewarned if you are considering asking for a refund after obtaining poor hair services from this salon. Currently, I am not allowed back to the Olympia, WA JCPenney Salon, after requesting and eventually receiving a refund in 2021, following corporate intervention, for a disastrous keratin hair treatment outcome. My very full blonde hair became an extremely oily flat mess that could not be washed out for weeks to come. It looked scary awful and so disappointing considering overly expensive cost of $160 charged to "restore my hair". This wasn't the first time my hair was ruined at this salon. In 2020, it happened again after they attempted to 'Color & cut' my medium blonde locks. The end result was a total color failure! I had to go to another salon and pay another $160+ (not including tip), for a full foil hair color redo and repair. Ultimately, JCPenney Hair Salon, located in the Capital Mall in Olympia, WA, has provided me with a huge 'service' with their punitive and unfair retaliation. I will never have to look at a ghastly hair color, condition or cut in the mirror again. Why not go elsewhere and save yourself the grief? I have. read more

Booked a back to school haircut appointment for my daughter in advance and they call me the day of, left a voicemail asking if we can come in any early because the hair dresser Shawn had a cancellation. I call back, explain I can't bring her in any earlier as I made the appointment at a time I can get off work, grab her and take her to be there on time for her appointment. Then, apparently she has to leave early(I'm assuming there was a gap in her schedule and she didn't want to sit and wait to work a little later to fulfill our appointment) so they cancel the appointment all together because there's no one else that can take the appointment and it didn't sound like Shawn wanted to stick around. Won't be going back to this salon again. Very unprofessional, no apologies or anything. Don't waste your time and book an appointment here to to get canceled on last minute just because. read more

I asked Brian for a incredibly time consuming job of taking my over-processed, faded, permanent blue/purple hair and making it bubblegum pink! We vibed right away and long story short - it took two appointments, 11 hours total and a very patient and dedicated cosmetologist to get the results I wanted and I was so happy! He also helped me pick out a product to go with my shampoo/conditioner I picked up there. Being a light color it's already started to fade a bit but it's fading beautifully into a lovely pastel pink that I still love. I will definitely return to JCP Salon for Brian and would absolutely recommend him to others! read more

Jcpenny Salon - Brians work before/after! - Hair Salons Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

Never again. Totally young and inexperienced. Wouldn't own up to there lack of talent. I asked for purple highlights framing my face and I got big purple stripes on the crown of my head now. When I came back with concern the way it turned out J the stylist couldn't even be bothered to come out from behind the front desk and take a look. Ask for my bangs to be left long tucked behind the ears and they were cut way too short . What really can you do with that point great. The manager Kim was of no help either. She just kept telling me how fabulous the employees were and I just had to get used to them. Basically maybe next time will turn out right. Thanks J and Kim for ruining my birthday pictures. Please Cheryl come back. read more

Lady in the salon gave me the worst haircut back in November.. still trying to recover from it

Came in over 1/2 hour before closing. Two girls were standing around with no one in the store ( Chrissy and Laura). I asked if they were able to give me a men's haircut. At first she said yes. I asked if they also had time to give my wife a haircut as well and then she said "I don't know" she said she needed to talk to the other girl and see if they had time. After she talked with the other girl she said they actually couldn't cut either of our hair because "it takes me over an hour for a men's haircut." Over an hour? I've never had a haircut take longer than 15 minutes. I think they just wanted to go home early and gave a poor excuse. I understand if we came in 5 minutes before closing but 1/2 hour and they are both standing around? read more

***UPDATE*** Just spoke with another manager to be told that they weren't going to do anything to fix what their stylist did to my hair.....I'm teeling you people, BUYER BEWARE!!!! They don't care about you! If I could give less than 1 star for this "salon" I would. I was there for 4 hours and 45 minutes. After almost 4 hours she still hadn't completed the foils in my hair. The bleach bled and left me with awful results. Also made me an hour late for work due to her poor time management. Sharletha destroyed my hair and all I got was "that doesn't sound right" "I'll have to check into this" The pictures I'm including are the destruction and the repair. The left is what I left JCPenny with and the right is the correction done by Amber Mayerl. Go to Google for pictures. read more

Brian gave me the best cut of my life. 10/10 would recommend. Great service all around.

Absolutely the worst haircut I have ever had! The girl was young & obviously inexperienced. I tried to tell her I didn't like the direction she was going with the cut but she argued with me the whole time. I had shoulder length curly hair when I went in & came out with something I can't even describe. I took 3 pictures in with me to show her what I wanted & it's not even close. I would have been better off going to a barber shop! The manager did not offer to have someone fix it (if that is even possible now because it is so short) but she agreed with me on how bad it was. She said "well, it's on us. You don't have to pay" and then walked away! I would NOT recommend going here! read more

Honestly if I could give negative stars I would. I recently took my four year old daughter in for a haircut (Hair was all the way down to her bottom) since she is starting preschool I wanted her to have a "big girl" haircut. After checking in we were given to a stylist different than the one I was told when I made the appointment by phone days before. I told her I wanted to bring her hair up to about the shoulder blade level, long layers and face frame the front. She asked if I wanted her to have her hair shampooed but I had just did it the night before so I told her no, that she could just spray it with water. She insisted on cutting it dry. Well the result is the length is completely uneven and the layers are so choppy. My little girl hair was completely butchered in my opinion. I refuse to take her back to have it fixed in fear that she'll end up with super short hair. Thankfully we only paid $10 so it wasn't a huge waste of money. I'll just have to let her hair grow out for a few months to go get it fixed somewhere else. read more

On a last minute whim, I decided to treat myself to an early bday present, and scheduled a haircut & color following my son's holiday photo session. I'm so glad I did! While kiddo & dad did some shopping, I got the best haircut of my life, and professional color for the first time in years. Marilyn is amazing and I can't wait to go back. The color and cut she recommended were perfect, and I was easily able to recreate the style at home. read more

Jcpenny Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

Grace is so amazing I have been coming for years just because of her. I have long brown hair which I decided to go blonde. She has been maintaining it VERY well. I went to a few coloring places and watched my hair get damaged, and also uneven blonde in Bellevue JCpenny. Grace is perfect at color. She is super busy probably because of how amazing she is. The best part was my ex wanted me to dye my hair black from blonde and I thought I would give it a try. It was horrible. I look way better as a blonde. Grace saw my dark hair that I couldn't fix and came with a solution of a few appts of highlights til the blonde comes back. 3 appts later my hair was back to my old blonde. Without the super big damages. so if you somehow destroy your hair with too much dark color or color at all she is amazing for fixing those. She knows when you need the deep conditioning and my hair has been complimented over and over and over again. I wanted to mention that I wanted to get some red highlights one time and she recommended a girl here to install a weave to not damage the blonde. It wasn't on their menu, but there is a girl that told me that if I brought the weave along with the needle and thread she would do $5 a track. Grace saved my hair from the bright color damage that would fade eventually and might be difficult to get rid of into this option. The look was amazing. I took it out after about a month, but $15 for highlights to be installed with hair that can be reused is a pretty great deal. You can play with any colors at an affordable rate. I love this place. read more

Kim in the salon and the woman store manager don't have a clue. The JCP website states they have a price match guarantee, with an additional 5% off. Not only did they not price match Ulta, they wasted my time. If I could give them 0 stars, they would be a negative 5 stars! So unprofessional to not do what is guaranteed!!!! read more

Nece is a great stylist! If you need haircare for all types, come see her! She does a great relaxer for African American hair and is fast too; doesn't overcharge or overbook. I'll definitely be back! read more

I've been seeing Suzanna for almost a decade and would follow her anywhere!! If you're looking for an expert color and cut she's your girl!

I have now been to the salon here twice and both times have been absolutely satisfied with my visit. The first visit, in January, I worked with Tan or Tran (I cant remember her name) and she was amazing. She was friendly and sweet. She never pushed products on me and answered the questions I was always too scared to ask at previous salons. My second visit was also enjoyable. This time I worked with Erin. She had a great personality and was very open to conversation. She was completely honest with me. My hair didn't turn out how we both thought it would but I ended up loving how it turned out even more. The price point is amazing! About the third of the cost of other salons. They make you feel welcomed from the front desk and throughout your visit. read more

I called and got an appointment in less than an hour at the Tacoma Mall JC Penney Salon, then I got my hair cut by Brian who had transferred from another Salon and it was his first day. BEST HAIRCUT EVER! Totally nice guy and took his time to make sure all my complaints about my hair were taken away! It looks GREAT! read more

If I could give a negative star I would.. I had the worst experience I have ever had at a hair salon.. Ask for a bob haircut and the lady totally did the opposite and told me that I outgrew that hair style and it did not suit my face. I told her I hated the way to cut my hair and She told me to go to a different salon if I wanted a bob. If you want to get a bad cut or not get want you want go to Dora. read more

This is my second review for the JCP salon. Unfortunately Samantha is no longer there, but I just got a full foil and cut from Svetlana today and I am so happy that I had to write a review. She really took her time and went above and beyond to try and figure out what I wanted, even though I didn't really know what I wanted ( : I took a time out from JCP and went to a much more expensive salon, but I was not really very happy with the results. Svetlana did a great job, I will definitely be back! read more

Okay, so I haven't been to get my hair done professionally in ten plus years. But recently I decided to treat myself. JCPenny had put out a coupon for hair services and I made an appointment. I was a little apprehensive because I thought I should go to a trendy type salon in Tacoma somewhere. But when I got there Sarah, who was my stylist, was really nice and very professional. She walked me through everything that was going to happen and gave me a great consultation, so I felt very comfortabe after that. Long story short, she did an amazing job. I felt so pretty and, honestly, sexy when she was done. She also told me how to style it myself and what products I should use to get the same effect. I loved it. I would totally recommend her to anyone. read more

I have African American natural hair and I wanted it straightened for a friend's wedding. I went in and got my hair blown straight & flat ironed. Amber did a great job. I love it! The prices were very reasonable. read more

Ambur has cut and flat ironed my hair twice now. The first time she cut it she gave me a discount and the second time she cut it I thought she was fixing the styling where she went wrong the first time but I guess I wasn't supposed to look a gift horse in the mouth because she charged me 23.00 extra dollars this time. It wasn't in my budget but I went ahead and paid it and she lost me as a customer even though the second cut was better. I thought the styling was better but the curls fell before I even left the mall. I think she understands cutting hair exactly like her texture of curls but not all curly hair in general. read more
