Fariba tried to upsell me on a conditioning treatment because my hair was very dry. I knew she was wrong because my hair is very oily but I let her go on. The treatment was $380 because my hair was very long. I told her it's too expensive. I wanted a regular shampoo and flat iron. She goes on posturing me about where I am was from, what I do for a living, if I bought a house, etc. I think this is the part where she decides what to charge you. I'm not saying Fariba is bad but it was shady that she tried to charge me $75 for a shampoo, chair dry, and flat iron. I told her-- no way. You charged me $40 last time and you didn't even condition twice. I think she tried to pull a fast one on me. So she said $50. I paid her $60 to be nice. Oh and she tried to say her credit card machine wasn't working and only accepted cash------ after my hair was done. Needless to say, I won't be back. I wanted to give business to this small business but she clearly tried to take advantage.

Wow! Am I glad I found this place!!…read more After one of my favorite stylist left from Wild Orchid (the salon I usually go to) to pursue other ventures, I was in a complete loss of where to go. I really wanted to find some place local so, after doing a little Yelp research and after reading such great reviews about this place, I decided they were worth giving a shot. I decided to go to Karen after seeing her name mentioned mostly in the reviews which turns out is the owner. The place is small and hidden off of Main st in Oakley. Secluded and hidden with dark tinted windows, you really would not expect much though, to my surprise I walked in to an extremely chic, well decorated, modern style salon and was immediately greeted by Karen. I explained to her what I wanted and she delivered it to perfection and right on point, my hair really looks fabulous! Thanks to Karen, my search for a new stylist has ended!!

So since I saw the door open and it being around 5:30pm, I asked if they could take me right then, stylist Melissa said 'sure!'. Yay, I was excited! It was my first time at DK Salon. Sure won't be my last! Love that they are local! I explained to Melissa what I was trying to accomplish with the highlights. We decided to go with the blue highlights since the salon was out of purple color. Great! I love not having too many choices! My hair turned out soooo cool! Its like bold blue near roots and kinda darker blueish purple near ends. I'm growing out my hair from a VERY short A-line cut so I really didn't want Melissa to cut much off. She did what she could to freshen me up. I am very pleased with the results for color, cut, service, and how I was treated. I was also informed as how to take care of my hair now that I had color in it. Both Melissa and Karen were very personable and helpful and very much professional. Prices are reasonable and comparable. Salon was neat and clean. No nasty hair balls laying tucked behind a chair or desk. Plenty of hair products to choose from. Nice selection of magazines to look through while waiting for your color to set. I will be back to DK Salon in the future.

Got a haircut from Tina so good last wkend that I can't *not* leave my first ever review about it…read more Yes, it's that serious! She seriously worked magic on my incredibly damaged, lengthy, thick, and heavy hair with ease and damn near healed my hair salon trauma forreal. I'd highly recommend this salon and Tina to anyone but especially to those with hair like mine (thick, coarse, dense/heavy, Filipino... lol). You also cannot beat their prices for the quality of the cut they give you!! (Rly long review ahead): I've dreaded hair salons since I was a kid and have largely continued to avoid them as an adult because 1.) stylists would often gripe about my very thick, coarse Asian hair, and/or 2.) often lack the skill and patience to cut my hair well. A lot of times they'd make it pretty clear to me I was inconveniencing and annoying them, almost as if cutting my hair was a burden. While I remember the ladies at Winnie's Cuts were very nice, basically every time my haircut was rushed and I'd leave feeling pretty apathetic about and bored with my hair. Once I got older and moved to a city where it was even more expensive to cut hair like mine, I started cutting it myself as I lacked faith/hope in salons and LA prices were too high for me to regularly justify. Last year a bad depression episode resulted in my hair becoming the most damaged it'd ever been. I continued to avoid the salon until it was beyond unmanageable and unsalvageable for myself to fix, until I finally decided to just bite the bullet and take a chance on someone a few months after moving back to the Bay. I was very nervous going into the salon, but Tina made me feel welcomed instantly and was so warm, personable, and kind. She was in the middle of cutting a male client's hair when I got there, but put me in a chair almost immediately. I noticed that she didn't rush the guy's haircut after I walked in and was very thorough with finishing up his hair, and I really respect and admire that! After she finished, I described to her the cut I wanted and showed some pics for reference, and she quickly started working her magic. She was very respectful about how thick and long my hair was, and that alone meant a lot. She's so nimble and cut my hair so beautifully with such ease and grace that it honestly left me in awe, lol. She did a phenomenal job at cutting my hair and got rid of so much damage while keeping a good amount of my length. I walked out of there so happy and with the best cut and experience I've ever had. Thanks to Tina, I finally get to love my hair again and the salon is no longer something that fills me with dread, but excitement. She's truly spectacular at what she does. This place will def be my go-to!! Thank you so much!!!
