After shopping at JC Penney, we wanted to utilize our coupons and discounts, my wife needed items for weddings we are going to this year, including a couple of summer blouses. l was also looking two return (2) dress shirts and needed (1) white dress shirt in exchange. l was met by Anne in the Men's area, which a couple of weeks before took my neck & sleeve measurement. I also headed to sports area to peruse discounted Michigan/Michigan State sport's apparel. We had the best time, the employees were very helpful, Tara, Cici, Rasha, Shirleen, and Anne in men's clothing. We can't wait to return to Penney's we live in Algonac and pass a Penney's in Chesterfield, because of the better selection of products & friendly staff. read more

Maybe today was just an unfortunate shopping experience.... After selecting a few things to try on, I noticed a couple of the dressing rooms were closed. I hope this was temporary since it took some time to locate a dressing room that was open. After that, I needed help in getting a question answered about another product I was interested in purchasing. This also took more time meandering around and trying to find someone on the floor that could help me. I finally found an associate who I thought could answer my question, but no.... They then sent me to another person who wasn't too enthused about answering a legit question. I finally did get my question answered although I felt like I was being a nuisance. At checkout I asked if I could combine a gift card with my JCP charge card so I could still use the coupons I received. That answer was a no. Being an avid Kohl's shopper, that didn't sit well with me because Kohl's lets you do that. A suggestion from a good customer to JCP.... allow us to use a gift card along with our JCP charge card so we can still use the coupons you send us. Kohl's has a good thing going with that policy. I don't often shop here, but every time I come in they have a lot of sales. Today, I was shocked to see amazing sales on really cute spring themed dresses. They had dresses that were casual or classy and perfect for Easter. All of them had sales. They also have sales depending on the season. I saw a lot of winter items 40% or more. I even saw other dresses as much as 60-80% off. It was interesting because a lot of the clothing were considered name brand or higher end items. So you'd see how much the item retails for and the sale price. It was a lot cheaper than the retail and some items were even in style. I first walked past everything to get to Sephora, and walked around the mall. When I finally got back in JcPenny I was lost for a moment. It was then that I saw the sales. I wish I would have seen them sooner because I would have looked for an Easter dress. I was running late for a movie. I know I will return to check out their dresses and sales. It's usually hard to find a dress I like that looks classy yet casual. Somehow, so many caught my eye. It seems like the customer service desk needs help though. There was a huge line around near the door and only one lady at the desk. I was looking for a restroom and I could not find an employee in sight. I finally just asked a customer instead. I've been shopping at JCPenney's for a long time now, and always seem to find good deals on clothing when I'm here. I know that over the past few years they've had some financial difficulties, but that doesn't deter me from shopping here. This specific location is the closest and probably the easiest for me to get too. You can get to it from inside or outside the mall, which makes it convenient if you just need a few things. I usually shop their women's clothing and lately, have caught a few good deals. Their black Friday deals are amazing, and I got a new pair of black slacks for work for $3.16, originally $34. I love that they carry a little bit of everything, but mostly I stick to their clothing. I love the downstairs part where they have household items, but I really haven't purchased that stuff from this location before. Staff is decent and friendly, and even though the lines can be long at times, they try to keep it moving. Overall, they are on my short list of places to go to get clothing for work and other stuff. Prices are legit, and even though it's not the coolest hippest store, I do love shopping here. Prices and sales can't be beat! (well, except maybe Kohls, but Kohls can be shifty sometimes with their pricing. Gotta watch that stuff!) read more

Lines! Lines line's. And why do you not have price Checkers!? what is the madness behind this? why do I need to go up to an employee to ask the price of a clearance item? it's so stupid. I don't want to hunt you down to see if something's $3 when I can scan it and look at it any other store in the world!!!! the jewelry counter is very rude if you're not buying something over $100. and the only reason I go here is because of the makeup store inside (Sephora) which you don't always get a very polite lady in there as well... the shopping carts are small, and always sticky. and they didn't honor a coupon I had when I read the fine print and it should have been honored I just haven't had any really positive experiences at that particular JCPenney's and the only go there for Sephora. I think they're overpriced the quality of clothes is not there and the employees are very rude and they need to put a little bit more thought and with setup and the concept and may be investing in a couple price scanners to save up the lines and me having a bring up a cart full of clothes to the register just to check the price!!! read more

Back in October, I got engaged and had a surprise engagement party all in the same day. As I was away from home, I panicked at the thought of not having my makeup with me. I went to Sephora inside Jcpenny and was searching for things to do a quick face. I asked if there was time to get my makeup done, but it was later in the day and there wasn't any appointments available. I must have looked sad, because the manager (I think) came over and I explained the situation. She offered to do my makeup and it was honestly the best experience ever. She was so sweet and my face look awesome after. Best customer service ever. read more

Before heading back to school (and as an early birthday present) my mom treated me to a cut and style and the JCPenney Salon at Lakeside today. Worst haircut I have ever received! I have thin fine hair and a chubby round face, so I asked for a 2 inch trim that would refresh my layers and frame my face. Christine (not Christina, Christine, who goes by Chris) spent an hour trimming and slowly blow drying my hair, only for me to discover she gave me a flat blunt cut with curled ends! I tried to communicate what I wanted but was met with straight up disagreement. After I insisted, she went to get her manager- I guess my thin fine hair, which multiple Great Clips, Super Cuts, and Fantastic Sam's in three different states have had no issue with, gave her a hard time! Her manager, a thin older blonde woman whose name I didn't get, was the one who took my hair from bad to butchered, with help from Chris. I told her that it seemed too long and she immediately snipped all of it right to my chin! I told her I wanted it shorter in the back and longer in the front without sacrificing the layers, which I had repeatedly told Chris, and the boss cut all of it in a blunt bob with curled under ends! She was extremely unapologetic and contradictory as I sat there, crying, in her chair. When Chris went to talk to her, shouldn't she have told the boss what I asked for? Why didn't either of them listen to me? I am 24 years old;what will I do with this too short too blunt 13th century male monk haircut that my 60 year old mother had in the 1980's?? Horrible experience today. Subpar photographer (luckily my daughter is cute no matter what!) however I was very displeased with the woman checking me out. First off she was sick (which I can understand however she wasn't apologetic or even tried to not cough on me!) and coughed everywhere. Horrible experience....worked this year as seasonal worker..was told from dept manager I was there to stay....I took every hours she gave me...5:30am, 6:30 am ect. when that early in the morning customers well lets say you could count them on one hand. I worked in a dept which is a commission dept. worked like I said very early morning hours........(no commission for me)...Others who worked the high energy hours their commission lets say very very good Their care plans and charge app were higher than mine could ever be, working so early in the morning. The training to work in that dept. well if you need help and the manager of this dept was never around (she was out shopping on company time. Her Christmas hours were 9-5 unheard of in retail. If you needed help on something you had no knowledge of, I would ask one of the other employees, if it was one of the older ladies that have been there for 20 years or more (Nope) they did not want to be bothered( you were taking away from their commission. The older women who worked in this dept stole sales from you ect. not a very good experience to work with this company.. I have worked in selling jewlery sales at 2 of your major Jewlery stores for over 30 years and never experienced what at did at this store.Commission sales in this dept should be done. Customers would get a better experience shopping at JCPenneys Fine Jewlery dept. if there was no commission. I would never work for this company nor would I ever recommend anyone to work there.. read more
