I'm writing this not out of angst, but because this is the second time I've been treated like dirt when shopping at the Ahwatukee JCPenneys. I will just say that a certain person in Shoes with a name that rhymes with Yulia and starts with a J, is the rudest customer service representative I have ever encountered. This clerk made shopping for my girlfriend a nightmare. Next time, I'll hit up the Chandler store before ever stepping foot in Ahwatukee again. Julia, get a job in a closet somewhere. You don't need to be customer service. Other than that, Penneys has some awesome deals especially when it comes to someone like me who hates shopping. I just want to get in, get what I need, and get out. This place is usually pretty fair priced and their sales are typically amazing and they almost never fail me. I've never had any problems at other jcp stores, just the Ahwatukee store. Twice now. I'm afraid to find out what "third time's the charm" might mean. read more

Came in a few times to look at wedding rings. Many times couldn't get help. Did today, felt pressured and like my wedding wasn't important. I got so stressed we ordered a ring asking if it can be returned. Came in couple hours later she said we have to wait till it ships in. Seems dumb, doubt they started order. Omg! On New Year's eve I was in a rush to get to a party that I hadn't planned on going to. I went to Pennys to find a top and I found a lot more than that. I stopped by Sephora thinking I could maybe purchase a couple pieces of make up to make myself look better and that I did. I came across two of the most amazing beauty consultant I've ever met in my life. They asked me what I was doing on New Year's eve and I told them. then they help me refresh my make up they sold me a few products and they were incredibly helpful. I have a completely different view on JCPenney because of these two ladies. Margie and Mila were so helpful and so friendly and so knowledgeable it was awesome! Just because this is a smaller store doesn't mean they have less! It's the holiday season and the lines to check out (at 5:30pm) we're not bad, they went very fast since they were prepared and well staffed. Customer service is everything to me. Yes, they do have a lot of stuff and sometimes they have GREAT deals. Their customer service is a hit or miss. I'm gonna avoid coming here now. I ordered shoes with them paid for it and the items were sent back because I didn't pick it up in 10 days... Was NEVER aware of that and the lady was like, "Oh, you dont want your stuff" I didn't appreciate that comment. If that was the case, I wouldn't be here. I have also paid for it. SMH. read more

Used the salon services here for my daughter's prom. Victoria in the salon listened to everything my daughter wanted for her prom "updo", and Victoria nailed it!! She was fantastic! I have never been compelled to write a review before, but felt the service we received warranted this review. We also were able to get makeup done at Sephora here, which was amazing as well. I have never been JCP shopper until moving to the valley. This store has always had a stuffy, untrendy rep to it, and I consider myself to be quite trendy and fashion forward....and in the past i have never had a desire to shop here. (Sorry if that sounded snobby, it just was what it was) So this 5 star rating comes as a surprise, even to me. I went for the Black Friday(Thursday night) deals and BOY did I make out with some good ish. I spent $134 and I was able to get a Men's Robe, Men's Claiborne sweater, a sweat suit for my tween daughter, boots, a bookbag purse, a watch, a necklace, earrings, 3 pairs of fuzzy socks, underwear, bracelet and a camo jacket!! And everything is SUPER cute!!!! I am super pleased with my purchases! JCP has stepped their game up and can compete with the other department stores...I love the fact that their is a Sephora inside too..... I was also given an additional 15% discount for waiting too long for my cashier due to her error in calculating my purchases! Excellent customer service! 5 stars and a customer for life! read more

I've shopped off and on at Penney's my whole life. This store is the best. Excellent customer service from the manager all the way to the cashiers. I recently encountered a frustrating situation with an online order, I called the national customer service number and it was a 13 minute wait. I called this Ahwatukee store and the assistant manager took over and had the issue fixed immediately with extremely satisfying results. They have my loyalty. read more

The management here is hideous, they don't care for their customers and will fight you over returns or exchanges. The company advertises their return policy as hassle free but oh boy does this store go against everything they advertise. I bought a pair of uniform pants for my daughter about a month ago and noticed they were wearing down at the bottom rather fast, I went to the store to exchange them because I don't believe they should wear out as fast and the cashier and manager questioned me as to why I bought those pants and why was I exchanging them instead of taking the $2.95 they offered to give me instead. I paid $14.99 for them, and they offered me $2.95?! Their reason, because they were worn, but that is not part of the store policy. If I knew that they would not stand by their policy and satisfaction guarantee then I would go to Walmart. The manager argued until I said, forget it. I won't shop here EVER. You can be happy to have won the $2.95 girl uniform pants battle, but you lost the hundreds of dollars I spend on clothing here. The manager actually told me, "well,if your daughter wears these pants every day it's not our fault". Wow! I have never had a problem at this jcpennys before but I hadn't been here in a while and I was very excited but as I was looking at the clothes I constantly had employees circling around me straying no more than 3 feet from me. When I went to the counter to pay I know they can look up one of their credit cards in the system but when I told them I didn't have the card on me but knew all the information they would need they said they couldn't do it and had multiple employees around me again telling me the same thing that I can't buy these clothes. I don't know what was so different about this trip since I had been able to look up my information before. I don't want to think it was because of my skin color and the way I was dressed but a person of color walking into a store full of nothing but white old lady employees I had never get more ashamed and embarrassed walking out of a store. Worst experience ever and now I remember why I dislike coming here so much. Don't recommend. read more

I won't shop here again. I used a 10.00 coupon, but because I returned the item, I lost the coupon value. How rude is that. I'll shop at Kohl's they at least give you an in store credit for their 10.00 coupon. There are many store to shop at in the valley, so why shop here. My parents stopped here to get some coffee maker and my daughter a toy but when they were checking out the associate was rude informing them they couldn't use their credit card with a coupon. My parents were trying to explain to her they always use their Jc penny credit card with coupon at their local Jc penny's but they got impression they were being treated unfairly. They also tried giving her part of money cash and rest on the Jc penny credit card due to my father doesn't like putting huge debt in his card by again she told them they don't do that. She just made transaction more difficult than it needed to be with no customer service what so ever. They just left with out purchasing anything they were frustrated. read more

I was looking at jewelry and found several pieces that I really liked. I went home and did some research to see if the prices were competitive. JC Penney doubles the prices! If a ring sells for $1500.00 elsewhere they double the price and they claim to have it "on sale" by cutting the price to more than what the piece is actually worth. A fine example of this is a $3,000 ring on sale for $1700 that was only worth $1500 to begin with. Be cautious of this marketing. All of their jewelry is doubled and then put "on sale". Kohls and other department stores that sell jewelry do the same thing. The only time you should ever buy jewelry from JC Penney is when they have a holiday sale. They really rip off their customers and count on the fact that there are people who THINK they are getting a good deal. If there is anyone out there that is wondering why their business is declining....I can tell you why. read more

I have always liked this store, but on 9-13-14 I went in looking for an outfit for family pictures that were to be taken that evening. I also had 1 of their $10.00 off $25.00 which I always use. I found exactly what I was looking for on 2 clearance racks, but when I got up to the cashier to pay, he said I couldn't use the coupon because of "doorbusters." I tried to tell him that the 2 items were on clearance racks, but he insisted that I couldn't use the coupon. I left the store without anything & ended up at Kohl's. In my personal opinion, I would say that in the consumer's experience when it comes to finding great deals and stretching your dollar while also getting the quality and look of any high end store, this is the place to go. JCP is ALWAYS having some sort of sale and as far as the customer assistance goes, judging from my own experience as a shopper there the people seem more inclined to help out in any way they can by going out of their way to help the shopper find everything they need while making them feel comfortable. read more
