Underrated place to find gym clothes and denim. If I need new Levi's or clothes for the gym, this place is a steal. It is also very organized which you can't find at the Macy's in the mall. read more

The store is very well kept but an older Asian female cashier was very rude because I didnt want to open the store credit.

This Penny's was nice neat had people there to help you. It reminded me of the Penny's (when I was a MM) 1992. Selection of partners is low grade tho...that could be a whole lot better. They're a decade behind in their selection of top branded perfume partners read more

DO NOT GO TO THE SALON FOR STYLING! On the most important day of my life my graduation I payed $95 for styling so my hair can look like I just didn't care, This so called stylist did curls and those called "curls" wouldn't last from the salon to my house. That was ridiculous! read more

The condition of the restroom was unacceptable. The smell of urine was overwhelming and made using the bathroom uncomfortable. Customers shouldn't have to force themselves to use a restroom in a major retail store. JCPenney maintains the sales floor well, so there's no reason the bathrooms shouldn't meet the same standard. This is something that needs immediate attention. read more

This place kills me. They only process returns at one station upstairs which also takes purchases. Long ass lines every time because someone inevitably has a problem which backs up the line. They also put extremely strong stinky air fresheners right next to the cashier downstairs. It's disgusting and hard to breathe. I don't get why management doesn't notice or care enough to do a better job read more

I ordered a waffle maker online and requested curbside pickup because I have difficulty walking. I've ordered online in the past and knew that the pick up desk was quite a distance from the parking lot. I responded to the email linking me to curbside pickup. I parked in a designated parking space and waited, and waited. After waiting over 15 minutes I received notification that my order could not be processed and that I needed to come in to the store. What's the point in offering curbside pick up if I have to come in to the store myself? That defeats the purpose of the service, right? So I walk to the first service desk I see and ask for a manager, had to wait for one to show up and finally, after almost half an hour, received my purchase. Efficient? NO. Convenient? NO. Customer Friendly? Debatable. JCP...you're barely hanging on to customers through possible bankruptcy...you need to do better if you want to keep us shopping there. read more

We came today to make a return for a purchase we made at this store. It took 30 minutes because of how poorly organized and signed this store is. Are returns at customer service downstairs? No, after waiting in line we have to go upstairs. Now we are upstairs and we wander around for 10 minutes because there are no signs of where to go. Then we have to flag an employee and ask. Then we find returns and it is a tiny 8.5x11 printed sign. How are people supposed to find that on their own? You make me not want to buy here in the future if returning something is going to be so inconvenient. read more

So I'm looking for a suit for an interview I have and went to Men's Wearhouse where just the jacket alone was $350. I came to JCPenney and met Patsy and Stella who were the absolute best. They gave me the best personal treatment and helped me find a great suit, pants, shirt, tie and shoes for $200. I was really worried looking for suits, how to find the right size and how to find a good deal and Patsy and Stella made my search so easy thank you both. I had a really disappointing experience at this JCPenney Portraits location. From the moment I arrived, the woman handling my session seemed passive-aggressive and annoyed. I felt rushed the entire time and wasn't given the chance to properly review or choose the photos. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, and I didn't feel welcomed or valued as a customer. The final photos were not worth what I paid ,poor quality, awkward poses, and nowhere near what I expected. I left feeling scammed and extremely dissatisfied. One star, because I had no choice read more

Lakewood JCPenney's is one of the best ones around. It's normally clean and orderly. The floor doesn't look like a hurricane came through . The one thing, I don't like about this Penny's, in general, is that you can walk the whole second floor and not run into one salesperson. Another issue is all the price checking machines have been removed and I had to go to one of the two store registers, on the either opposite ends of store, just to check the price. I had to wait in line and didn't want to fight with someone thinking I'm trying to cut in. There was only four people ahead of me, so I sucked it up and waited. Got the price checked and walked back to the opposite end and returned the item. Guess I should've taken that as a sign that I did not need the item, Oh well, At least I got my steps in. read more

It's a dying store...Upstairs in the bedding department sat a blonde women sitting at the desk and on her phone. I ordered a pair of cargo pants from JCPenny Lakewood, CA on Oct. 8, 2024. I used the ship to store delivery & paid a small fee. After never hearing anything from JCP, I called the warehouse. I was informed that they shipped my item a long time ago & the store received It on October 10, 2024, but hasn't processed It yet. I called the store & was told It hadn't come in. This is 8 to 9 days after I ordered them. The store recording gave me a 1-800 number to call. I spoke with a customer service rep in the JCP.com area. He told me that the tracking shows it delivered at the store & there was no more info on it. I asked him what happens now! He said I don't know! He told me to call the store main line & ask them. I had already called them twice & was told it wasn't there, & the next call, it wasn't processed yet. I ordered another pair of pants to make sure I got a pair of them on Oct. 21, 2024. I used ship to home delivery method. I received a ready to pickup notice on Oct. 21 evening. UPS delivered my shipment the next day. I returned the pants & they wouldn't give me my shipping cost back. I told the clerk that it's not fair. If they hadn't lost my first order, I wouldn't have had to buy another pair. The customers pay for the employees mistakes! Well, I finally received my pants on Oct. 22, 2024! No more JCPenny's for me! I'm done! read more

This review is regarding my experience today Wed, Feb 7, 2024 on the second floor Kitchen department. I was greeted by an older caucasian woman. Slender with short hair. I was interested in purchasing a stainless steel skillet pan that I saw online. As soon as I found the skillet I saw there was a check out with at least more than 10 people waiting in line. I decided I didn't want to wait in that line so I went to the woman that greeted me since she wasn't busy at all at another check out area. I asked her for a price check on the skillet, she seem nice and scanned it for me. And it was on sale just like on the website but I mention that it has more of a discount online and how would I go about that. Now this is where things went downhill. She was explaining to me that I would need to find get a coupon bar code and I was looking on my phone on the jcpenney website. She seem to get frustrated with me because I couldn't find it. Mind you, I'm not savvy tech and nor familiar with the jcpenney website. She was talking to me with a condescending tone as if I was a kid and she was the Principal. I was totally not feeling her vibe at all at this point. She even had the nerve to take my phone to show me, I didn't appreciate her even touching my phone, that was completely rude. I didn't get her name but this left me with a bad taste in my mouth. This behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. She shouldn't be working in sales, better off in a care home wiping ass. read more

Don't come here they take forever to bring your curbside pick up order. They are rude I called the store letting me know the left the safety alarm around the shoes I purchased and picked up and the manager was annoyed she was like you can just cut it off with a good pair of scissors unless you want to come to the store but you need your proof of purchase. I would give a 0 if I could the "LOD" for kids department was extremely rude and disrespectful her own EMPLOYEE was waiting for help and he accidentally says "juniors department" loses a customer because he and his family got tired of waiting for his lazy supervisor to come over and help for a transaction. He proceeded to another customer and she comes yells at him (keep in mind he's the only one in the cashier and he has a big line) next time "say kids department you had me looking stupid calling juniors when you're in kids". She then sees us all and decides to help her staff. (You'd think she would help. But she lost sales the woman before me had no tag on her clothes and told the lady to go back to the department and find one with a tag) I have worked for JCP. We could look up the clothes or called the department this supervisor was plain LAZY. And her English grammar was horrible. Please learn proper ENGLISH. Then become supervisor.I'm next and she says next time I go I need to go in the "returns cashier" and she's "doing me a favor " taking my "return" on her section. I said okay. And she then says "oh I can't take this and I cannot give you store credit because it's past 60 days." She quickly assumed I wanted "store credit" did I feel racially profiled?" Yes I d. I did not want to make it a big deal. But I worked for JCP and if I cannot get my money back I CAN get store credit. It might not be the same I UNDERSTAND but it's something. I had the same shorts it could have even been an even exchange.but it was in clearance she saw the shorts in my hand and said "that wouldn't work because it's fall now so it's not valid. She then gave it back and said "next" didn't bother to give me no option. No store credit nothing. I said thank you have a blessed day! And I left and told the customers in line no returns and to remove all hangers from their clothes. AGAIN WHY IS SHE SUPERVISOR?! Do you not care employees like these are ruining your stores and possibly the REASON you guys are closing permanently for business DO BETTER. And after I went to the department she said that only takes returns and they themselves said their "LOD" (supervisor) (if you want a specific person it's the LOD that worked at 5-6 pm in the kids department rerun the camareras and she's the one who decided to "help" with the line when she saw the line saw big.I will go back and find out her name. She needs RETRAINING IF NOT FIRED. Because cursing at her employees is not acceptable.)is not helpful nor kind and she hates helping customers and employees. You at lakewood mall JCP need to realize you are losing customers and eventually will close down because you guys need to restructure or retrain your "supervisors" because they're rude and lazy. And lack common sense. They're own employees are brighter than them. I do not recommend this store because if you like to get your time wasted come and hang out and get cursed and yelled at by means come and shop at LAKEWOOD MALL IN JCP. If not I recommend other stores. But LAKEWOOD MALL IS HORRIBLE ITS A CLOWN SHOW. Under staffed and their "supervisors" are NO HELP. It is clear they just collect a paycheck and go about their day. And they do not care for their employees and customers they DO NOT CARE. I understand it is holidays and we are all overwhelmed but DO NOT TAKE IT ON YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS NOR EMPLOYEES. DO BETTER!!! I would put her name to be aware but she didn't even have a tag or anything that is how much she DOES NOT CARE. HA. she proves NONE OF THESE SUPERVISORS CARE. I will bring it up and fight e-mail head quarter's because if you guys do not restaff and retrain this clown show of a store BECAUSE IT IS A CLOWN SHOW!!! I will not doubt you guys will lose customers and have to shut down LAKEWOOD JCPENNEY. DO BETTER!!!!! read more

I walked in to look for a specif style/fit. I must say this store had more of selection the the store I previously visited. I was in and out from fitting rooms several times. I know understand why department stores are losing to Amazon/online shopping. I saw many workers, all this employees working there, nobody ever approached me to see if I needed help of any sort. Based on this experience I am really preferring online shopping . Very easy to filter things to find what you need at the comfort of even your home. In addition since I was there for a while I kept hearing the radio of the employees where there was a woman cheering...not sure for what but after listening to it so loud over and over it became annoying. read more

My family have been customers of Jcpenney ever since we used to go to HP and shop and then, to the one in The Stonewood Mall; then you had to go down a long flight of stairs ( I swear they were meant to kill us kids or knock us unconscious so we didn't disturb the displays). Today I took some Christmas Gift Cash from the folks and bought those Sketchers Shoes that are good for posture, your back, circulation etc. and a sweet pair of New Balance Shoes for the gym. Both pairs for $175.....? This is better than sex...well with my ex- anyways. Andrea was so helpful and I knew she was over all of the restocking shit, the rude Christmas people and yet I had here laughing so hard with my wicked humor and facial expressions at the rude people having to cross right in front of me while I was trying on my Cha-Cha Pumps. She was full on smiles when I left ( I'm doing the online survey and recommending she work in cosmetics because she is beautiful! ) I'm so happy with my High Tech Tennies and I'm already reaping the rewards of the posture shoes. Honey, my whole posture was more outta wack than if I was 20 months pregnant and by the way I put 16 pounds on in 4 days this week, I'm doing some serious strutt'in! BTW, mom would take the 3 of us boys here every September and buy our clothes for the year. If we tore our pants knees they just got patched up. I have been here a few times to pick my online products. The pick up location is on the second floor where kitchen, bed and children clothing are. It is always quite busy and the wait definitely takes a while. Depending on which employee you get, that will determine how long you will wait for pick up. They always get my order right and I have not had any issues thus far. I will continue to visit this location for browsing and product purchase. Cleanliness: average. read more

The ladies who run the JCPenney Salon at Lakewood rock! Doubt if most people know JCPenney has a beauty shop. It's tucked away on the 2nd floor next to custom drapes and furniture. The Salon rocks! Newly renovated, the Salon is shiny and bright. They carry lots of brand named shampoos, conditioners, hair and nail care products. Bit pricier than Sally's. JCPenney Salon specialties are haircuts and color. I've been a regular customer for about 15 years. Josie Espiritu is my stylist. She does a fantastic job with color, cut, styling. I've got a ton of hair. Borderlines needing a hot comb or flat iron. I always hop out of Josie's chair feeling great and looking fantastic, if I don't say so myself. Theresa, Raquel, and Josie are alumni stylists at Lakewood, but that doesn't mean they're old school. On the contrary, I've seen ladies and men come and go with lots of different grades of hair, color of hair, and lengths. They emerge looking sassy and sexy, especially the men. :) The other stylists are part-time or specialize in weaves, extensions, braiding, mohawks, punk rock, avant garde styles. My friend, Day, the salon assistant can help you zero in on a stylist who'll meet your needs. Prices vary. I like what another Yelper said - Prices range between Supercuts and ShooShooNaNa Salon up the street. Depends on what you need done. If you're looking for a new place in 2013, give them a try! Believe me, they won't hurt you or your wallet. read more
