This is all about my experience with the portrait studio and clearly JC Penny as company's lack of empathy or understanding. #jcpennyportraits out here trying to steal folks money and give horrible service. So I suggest no one uses them ever again! I bought a portrait package in February of 2019. It is to expire this month. But as with most business (zoos, hotels, etc) memberships are being extended because of covid 19, I called in just to ensure. No such luck and I was told, "well most our studios have been open since August." So not only did you admit I couldn't have used the package for 6 months anyway. But also you think I'm about to risk possibly my life and the life of my kids and the elders I'm around to take some pictures. The lack of common sense around picture taking being a priority when most children still aren't in school, and disregard for financial hardship many have faced is disgusting and shows they do not lack customer loyalty. read more

I believe that JCPENNY overall is a few bad earnings cycles away from the fate of Sears. This location specifically is already even worse than the first few times we shopped there, in August 2017. We hadn't been back except to pick up orders. We went in today and egads it is even worse than a flea market on the bad side of a town. There is too much merchandise scattered all over the place, you can barely navigate the aisles for all the badly jumbled clothing. The music is too loud and it is the worst versions of songs that were pretty bad to begin with. Today's insult was an abandoned pick-up desk. After standing there for 15 minutes a sullen, spoiled entitled teenager came over. She was rude and "put upon", basically treated me, an adult paying customer-like a kid at school she didn't need to pay attention to. I tried to contact the store to express my concerns, no answer. I tried to reach corporate- no way to do so. The store clearing only cares about sales and though their webpage professes customer service as a core value-nothing I saw today puts that on the list at all. This location is doomed. We likely leave the area by 2020. I'm not sure this one will still be open by then. I guess I will pay for delivery to the house, rather than deal with spoiled teens who don't appreciate that they have a job. If she doesn't change her attitude, she might not achieve much more than where she is now. read more

I wonder how many TONS of dress shorts I've worn out through the years. Especially white ones. Or how many corn stalks gave their lives for my "lightly starched" preference. Or, most irritating of all, how many hours I have devoted to ironing my expensive "no-wrinkle" shirts. In such a world of wasteful woe, I am startled by how much I like the JCP Stafford Essentials oxford shirt, especially in the increasingly difficult-to-find shade of ecru. My size, my colors, looks good coming out of the dryer, and JUST FIFTEEN BUCKS! Free shipping for purchases of $50 or more. Just be careful that you ACTUALLY change the little shirt-color indicator button as you move down the page on your web order form, or you might find yourself making an exchange at the store, like I did recently. I do not like the construction traffic near St. Clair Square, and I do not like waiting in line at the customer service desk. But the employee who helped me did a great job processing my exchange. After replacing several stained shirts with new ones, my closet looks much happier. read more

It's no wonder JCPenney is going out of business. While the home section is merchandised nicely, the clothes are a mess. The products look cheap, and are further cheapened by the fixtures, low inventory levels, and nonexistent staff. On the plus side, the prices are quite low, even on decent brands like Claiborne. But I'd rather pay more for a better customer experience. This store is depressing. read more

I always place some type of online order for holiday gift giving with JCP and have had great experiences in the past. Placed an order for several Christmas gifts the weekend of "Black Friday" this year. NEVER received a confirmation email; but could see payment was pending authorization status with the bank --for almost two weeks. Items on my order slowly trickled in. Am still waiting for one gift, which is for my husband and here it is the week before Christmas. Attempted verification for delivery status with customer service on two separate occasions. The last gift (for hubby) says "item five -shipped." No expected delivery date. First try to speak with a live person was a 32 minute wait ("ain't nobody got time for that"). Second try, after answering all the self serve prompts, was "promptly" told my "inquiry couldn't be completed - goodbye". Wow JCP! SMH. Didn't expect such horrible customer service; or shall I say, lack there of. This isn't the customer service of the JCP I know and love. read more

Shopping here used to be an enjoyable experience. Not so much anymore. First off, you can never find a cash register without going all over the store and it you do the clerks run the other way. I was buying my husband a pair of Men's shoes, and there was a price discrepancy. The clerk went to check the price and when she came back she told me that I had to go upstairs to Women's shoes to check out. No reason just that I had to. Standing there with my mouth open because the men's shoes was 20 feet away another clerk came over and asked what was going on. I walked with her to where the shoes were to check the price and she looks at the box and starts laughing. The original clerk thought they were Women's shoes because they were a 9 W. I give Penney's, you win. I just can't anymore. read more

I dropped my wedding set off May 4th 2021 to be fixed as I'm getting married in July. Here we are June 8th and I still don't have them back. I was told 3 weeks my rings would be back. 3 weeks. I have called numerous times and even called corporate twice. All to be told so many excuses and that's all they are. Was told I need to give them 3 weeks and not be impatient. I had given the 3 weeks. Then was told I need to not count weekends which is 15 days. Then was told that even tho I dropped them off on the 4th they didn't send them out till the 10th. When asked why I was told " I don't know ". When asked when my rings would be back was told I don't know they said again 3 weeks. Always 3 weeks. Asked them If they could track my rings was told they had no way of tracking them. They were not even sure where they were or who had them. So I got really angry and was told by the store manager that if I continued to be angry and yell she would hang up on me. First off yes I was pissed but was not yelling at this point. I entrusted my rings with this place and no one knew anything but I was the one wrong for getting mad. So..... I gave it another 3 weeks from the 10th.. I called back at the 3 week point not counting weekends and was told the same excuse. Rings are not in don't know anything not where they are or when they will be back give them another 2 weeks. I exploded. Then they want to say it's Covid 19 fault. I CALL BULLSHIT. So I call corporate for the second time. Both time they apologized and said they would try to get to the bottom of it. I told them the customer service at the Fairview Heights store sucks. I work with customers and if I treated them how I've been treated I wouldn't have a job. Well on June 8th JCPenney called me with an update. The place they send the jewelry to is 4-6 weeks out and should be (key words should be) done with my rings by the end of the week so I (should have again key words should have) them back sometime next week. When and if I get my rings back which at this point doesn't look promising at this point. I'm gonna tell them they suck. Not sure I will have them for my wedding. Never been treated this bad. JCPenney used to be an excellent store, but they have gone downhill and gone downhill rapidly. Piss poor customer service on every level especially at the registers (argumentative and clueless staff in relation to mislabeled pricing). I've been a loyal customer of the men's store at JCP for 30+ years and I just made my last purchase today. I will never go back. read more

This company has stepped up in the online ordering process, free shipping, and sizes in TALLS, love it! I order for people that are very tall and this is awesome to have as an ongoing feature. I placed an order, ship to store, on jcpenney.com. About 25 days later, I went to the store to check on my order. It was a long time standing in line, and a longer time for the person to access my order information. I had order number, confirmation. I was told that my order would be in January 15, 2019. January 15 came and went. I called the store, again, was told order might be running late. Now, this is the third or fourth call I've made about this order in dang near 2 mos. I was also calling the 1-800 number, and being told simply that Is receive an email when my item arrived, and that there might be some kind of delay, considering the holidays. Jan 30, 2013: I called the 800- after speaking to store I called the 800 number. My order had been cancelled 12/03/2018. Not one person at the Fairview Heights location could provide this information to me when given order information.This involved phone calls and a trip down there in person. But then, it also took too many phone calls to the 800 number. I am grateful to the representative I spoke with today, for clearing things up. In 2017, I had given up on jcpenney.com, and cancelled my card. This was why. I regret placing another order in 2018, to be received in 2019, and having it simply not show up. JC Penney has been declining since their new CEO took over. While I like their new pricing, I feel their quality is terrible. Their clothes no longer fit me as they had in the past. And no, I haven't gained any weight so I'm not sure what the deal is. The fabric used seems to be thinner and lesser quality. I would suggest going to Kohl's to find better value for your money. read more
