Okay I'm going to start with the bad.... or not so bad. The store was pretty empty of customers. Also I'm not sure when Penney's became a self serve store? We were on a mission to find a light weight suit jacket for a friend of mine. After looking a bit on our own and only finding "winter weight" .. I found a sales person, no name tag actually he looked like a customer and I was hesitant on asking him, but I did ask him he worked at Penny's yes, then I explained what we were looking for... his response was over there...pointing to the "F" on the wall.. " See the "F" on the wall over there" Now in my past I worked for a company's that customer service was first...we always asked follow up questions as we walked the customers to the item..or the "F". Now we came into the store a half hour after it's opening...I've posted a few photos of the tables I can only say that the closing team didn't get the store ready for the next day... Did we find a jacket.... yes on our own it make me nuts to find the collection of jackets weren't sized, making it difficult to shop.? I can sense you thinking stop the whinning....but having to check each and every tag... can be frustrating. So we found a couple of shirts to try on with the jacket...so off to the dressing room. I sat in the chair provided...really was shocked at the stain on the carpet... not inviting. Now we're off to the cashier.... 2 men were there, we were greeted by one. The other associate was new and really hadn't be trained to ring as he was handed a manual by a supervisor. So why put a new employee on a Saturday without proper training. It's frustrating for the associate as well as the customer's waiting in line. The associate who did ring up the purchase wasn't trained properly as well, he was able to ring but was stumped when I showed him the Qcode for the 20% off....his response was "oh you have to write to corporate for the 20%". what? I asked him to try scanning the code, again he said "you need to contact corporate for the 20%. The sales associate who had helped me at cosmetic counter happened to walk by and heard the interaction...she stopped and said to the other associate I'll show you how to scan this. Her helping was the saving grace. It is so important that Penney's survive... we need to keep stores opened that can provide clothing, housewares etc for the middle income customers. Please I have read about stores closing, it sadly is the way of the world but I do believe that if Penney's put in bit more training, experience staff and expectations/standards to meet it would improve the shopping experience for all. read more

I can usually find what I am seeking when I shop at this location. I primarily shop for items for the Home. (Towels, kitchen items, sheets, etc) The store could use a few more registers (there is only a customer service area in Ladies and in Housewares). I appreciate the fact that they still provide Curbside service for the times I order something online. read more

drove 20 minutes to get there on Sunday only to find out they don't open until noon. Seriously ??? Why open at all? Online orders take over a week to deliver. Shopped with you for decades but you really need to step it up if you want to stay in the game. You've already lost over the last 2 years about 80% of my shopping business from self inflicted wounds. if you're not there to meet your customers needs during regular business hours you're just not being a great retail store, you're setting yourself up for almost certain failure. When you do go out of business, please sell the Liz Claiborne tall woman clothing line to someone else so its still available since it currently is exclusive to JCP and my favorite clothing line (even though you have even cut available options and available inventory dramatically. Bottom line as to why i bothered to writel this review:; you're making it really challenging to keep JCP in consideration. read more

To shop, yes. To work after the Covid -19 takeover ( new owners ) NOOOOOO! The old JCPENNY was wonderful to work for, unfortunately, the new people I believe are real estate owners, and the staff is really not treated well. It is a wonderful thing that people did not lose their jobs. People are grossly overworked underpaid, no health insurance. Very sad, this used to be a company that gave its employees health insurance. when you were a part-time worker . I loved my coworkers and all the friends I made, but I would not recommend anyone who really needed to make a living to work at JCP you will need to work two other jobs. Very sad. read more

I have shopped and had a credit card with JcPenneys since 2002. I was emailed a reminder that my rewards were about to expire, so the very next morning I went into your store to use my rewards with my purchase only to be told that my reward points expired. I told them about the email the day before and the associate told me she couldn't do anything about to call the rewards department and they would be able to apply the reward on their end. I got home and called and I was told they would not help me. I told them that I have faithfully shopped since 2002 and that I spend good money to get the rewards and then not to honor them just isn't right. The email did not say they expired that same day. I was ripped off. I told them I was going to return my purchase if I went back to the store and the manager would not assist me. That is the exactly what happened. I asked for the manager and she told me if they couldn't help on the phone then there's nothing she could do. I told her to refund my purchase and I let her know I was going to cut up my card and wouldn't be back. She simply said ok. I cut the card up in the store and left it on the counter. I've never received such a lack of service for supporting a store for over 21 years. Thanks for not appreciating me as a customer. I will never be back, nor will I recommend that people shop at JcPenneys. Yelp forces me to give at least a 1 star review, but your store deserves zero stars for the lack of customer service and appreciation. read more

Please advise your team members of your actual return policy. I was accosted because the tags were missing on a $60 pair of jeans I was simply trying to exchange for a different size "you don't have to take the tags off to try them on" she said in a nasty tone. Nowhere in the return policy does it state you must leave the tags on. I should note I had the tags in perfect condition they were just separate from the jeans. My family and I have been coming to this location for many years. The recent remodel made a big improvement. There mens clothing is fine for jeans and shorts. Even there suits can work for a pinch. My daughter uses only Courtney at the hair salon. She also loves the optical center in here for her glasses. I have used the optical center for a quick repair of my glasses once and they were great. All of the staff has been great to work with and always willing to help. The new housewares section is nice to browse through. read more

Not ever been a huge fan of JC Penny. Just seems the clothing lines carried here are outdated and not really current or fresh. The only reason I ever step into JCP is because of Sephora, and on this particular visit, I just happened to need pajamas. So, I was thrilled to find a lot of Betsey Johnson pj and socks on sale during my visit. Now, how this happened, I'm not sure. Just glad it did. I really did not receive any help during the visit--no one was on the floor, and it was somewhat frustrating to find the place to cash out--until I saw customer service in the front of the store. JCP is great for Sephora or picking up a random item, but definitely not a place I would seek out for it's own merit. read more

Placed three online orders in the past 2 month's, website says items in stock, they charge my credit card, only to receive an email the next day the items are no longer available. I went to purchase some makeup at the Sephora store that is within the JC Penney store (Sephora is awesome, btw, and their clerk/manager? Ronni was nothing short of amazing!). After I'd made my purchase at Sephora, I thought I'd do some early Christmas shopping in Penneys. The departments seemed well stocked with merchandise, and I had gone in with great anticipation of getting some gifts ahead of Black Friday. BUT - and this is a big exception! - I soon realized that the store fairly sucked the enthusiasm out of me. There were only these pitiful little cardboard cutout Xmas trees in the way of decorations. No glitz. No glitter. No beautiful Xmas trees. There was nothing to make me feel excited about the season, to make me want to stay and shop. So, I left. I understand the competition of online shopping, but I also know there is a huge segment of society out there who enjoys in-store shopping. I am ever watchful for the store leadership that is creative, innovative, and determined to engage the sidewalk shopper in luring him into their brick-and-mortar stores. I'm searching! This JCP is not the Daytona location ! The one at the Volusia mall is stuck in the 1980's on the outside when you pull up first thing you see is a bus stop and both entrances are dirty and poorly lit at night! go inside and the rest rooms are just disgusting I would not let a pig use these restrooms! Ever since JC Penney went through its mid-life crisis, I haven't been a huge fan. My review is over-due from Black Friday - but, here goes. Upon arrival, I found that all the merchandise that they had been advertising for weeks, was actually in stock (that definitely made my mother-in-law happy!!). On another note, the customer service here is great, they always have plenty of registers open, and tons of every item for sale. The clearance areas in each department also feature great values for your money. read more

The staff I have dealt with are really great. They have gone out of their way to make sure I got what I was looking for. They also went out of their way to make sure I got the best deal. If the rating was just for them I would want to give them 6 stars. I would have liked a little more of a selection and the sale racks were chaos and impossible to find things in. read more

The Daytona JCPenny's store is a great place to shop. Their variety of clothes makes it easy to find what I am looking for. Always great deals on sheets and bath towels too. Lately picking up school clothes for the kids with a huge discount. We have been shopping here for years and saving a ton of money. read more
