This place is clean and full of pastries. There are so many things I want to try. Today we got a raisin roll, chicken mole tamale in banana leaf , cheese bread and a pineapple empanada. Chicken mole was pretty yummy. People complain that they're flat.... Just a different style...flat and square. Really tasty though. Raisin roll and pineapple empanada were good. They were not too sweet. The cheese bread was good but a little dry. I'm not sure if that's typical of this bread because I never had it before. Service was nice and friendly . There were 3 tables if you want to quick eat and hang out for a bit. They have smoothies, fresh juice, coffee and soda. Take cash & credit card. Minimum credit card is $20 . Craving Pan Dulce? Support for "small business Saturday." Today I had a taste for some wonderful baked goods, and this small Mexican bakery has been on Main Street for a while and consistently has delicious fresh goods. I like to get a variety of cookies and pastries for myself and the kids. The girl working couldn't name all the pastries but her service and courtesy was great. I wanted to know the guava "cupcake/pie thing" to recommend, but that's okay. They also make fresh Aqua Frescas here, and I recommend the papaya for its flavor and consistency. Ordered a custom cake, paid extra for design and extra for special fondue they would need. Picked up the cake and it was not even close to what I requested. I had to go out and buy a topper to cover it. The worst part is that when we cut the cake it frozen!!! So embarrassing for my guests and such a bad experience. The quality has gone down over the years. It's still good but doesn't hit the same. The workers can be rude. One time they made a mistake taking my tamale order and instead of the taking responsibility as a whole they find someone to blame in front of me the (costumer) which is awkward and even tried blaming me. Then I was told that next time I'll be charged because they had to replace a tamale they ran out off with another priced tamale. While strolling through Old Town Newhall during the Christmas light show, I noticed there was a bakery and decided to check it out. Upon entering, saw the display with a few individual sliced cakes and the pan dulce. Assortment: in my opinion somewhat limited in comparison to other bakeries I've gone to. They had your usual conchas, smiley face cookies etc but nothing really caught my attention. Service: I must say customer service is very important to me when I walk into a business. And Jazmins Bakery could use improvement. Upon entering was not acknowledged/ greeted, and when I asked for the price of the pan dulce, the young lady (Mayte) at the counter just responded "each has a different price". Like umm okay I was waiting for her to ask me which bread I was interested in knowing the price or she simply could've told me prices of some. Prices: Honestly prices are a bit on the higher end for each bread. Roughly approximately $1.50 -$2.50 for each bread (Vallarta prices bread approx $1-$1.25 each). Plus I got charged an additional $.10 for plastic bag which the cashier did not ask if I wanted. Flavor: Appearance of conchas looked good but bread was too dry, crumbly, lacked flavor and slightly stale. I don't know if it had been sitting too long in the bakery. The ojo de pancha supposedly had cheese as told by cashier but the flavor wasn't there upon taking a bite, instead had a burnt taste. Interior: Decor is outdated, few chairs to sit on but not well lit inside during the evening. The case that stores the bread does not have the best appearance. Not sure if I'll be back but writing this in hopes the owner reads this review and makes some necessary improvements. read more

Avoid this establishment!! The service is terrible and the food is mediocre, at best! My mom purchased a dozen red beef tamales a few weeks ago and when she got home (in Palmdale), she realized she was given the wrong kind. She immediately called to notify someone who told her they would replace the tamales for free and that since we live so far, we can pick them up anytime. Fast forward to last week, my mom asked my brother to pick-up the replacements on his way home from work, but he was told that they wouldn't be replacing them. My mom called and asked to speak with a manager who told her "the women she originally spoke with doesn't work there anymore so they won't honor the replacement to make the order right". This was after multiple employees asked my mom to explain what happened, describe the woman she spoke with, and recount the events over and over again. I was listening to the various conversations and the employees were degrading and insinuated that she was trying to take advantage of the situation when all she was doing was trying to get things corrected. Lastly, after they had upset my mom, a few hours later, another representative called just to tell her that she wouldn't be getting the replacement. It was wildly unprofessional for there to be so many calls from different people to be rude and say the same thing. They do not value their customers or wish to provide acceptable customer service. My family and I had been coming here for years to purchase Christmas Tamales and various goodies but we will never return. The owners don't care about your business or providing good service. Save your money and drive down the freeway a bit. You'll get far better food and excellent service who value you. If I could give zero stars, I would. They don't deserve any! read more

Co-workers sent me to pick up tamales. Busy place, plenty of parking in the back or if you are lucky to find a place out front, there is 2 hour parking. There's another Jazmin's a block away which is the restaurant, don't make the mistake I made and end up there first. This is a busy place, line at times will go out the door, however, line goes quick. All the bakery items look delicious. All the employees are hard working, friendly and quick. Didn't take long to have my order taken and done. The tamales were exceptional. Glad I was sent to pick them up. This place is a Newhall gem. Beautifully designed desserts and excellent service. Sent them a picture of a cake my daughter found online, and they made it just as gorgeous. My daughter was very happy with it, for her 11th birthday. Very popular spot, the lines are long in the mornings, and they manage to get everyone taken care of quickly. Clean and pretty decor. Lots of things to pick from here. It's the perfect place to grab a box filled with pastries for hosting a brunch. I like how the shop is set up, when you walk in you start from that side and work your way to the other end to select your goodies. Service was friendly too. The family and I have been coming here for a very long time. Every time we go we easily spend $50 to $100 on tamales and bread. Today we went and saw the line go out there backdoor. We decided to wait. Once at home we were eating when we noticed a funky smell in the red sauce tamales. We opened all of them and 4 had a bad smell. I drove back to get them exchanged since we thought it was just a bad badge no big deal. Upon arriving they did not want to trade or give me my money back. I should have been a Karen in order to get a full refund. Its so disappointing that whomever was there was completely rude and kept sending their employee to do the talking for them. I asked to speak to them directly that I wouldnt mind waiting. Clearly she (the back person) didn't know anything about customer service, since she refused to come out. Either she knew they were bad or doesn't care about the business. The nice employee offered me her last 3 tamales they had left, since my toddler was hungry, I decided to take them. Recently went here about 4 days while strolling the downtown street. The variety of Mexican pastries were very tasty and the service was very pleasant. We ordered a Magdalena, a mil hojas pastry, a tiramisu pastry, a mosaic jello cup, a ginger bread man, a chocolate croissant, pineapple puff pastry and a mocha hot coffee. We took all this home to share with the family, and though everything was tasty we didn't eat it all. I will happily to back next time I'm in that area. This review will not be about things that do not matter, or should not matter at a casual bakery. Instead it will focus on the delicious desserts and tasty beverages. Simply put, Jazmin's Bakery is pure gold, in more ways than one. The desserts I speak of are the two styles of flan and the corn pie. You will see various shades of gold and brown between them via the desserts plus caramel sauce when relevant. Upon walking in I was intrigued by numerous identical desserts behind glass that appeared to be a cake, pie or both. Rather than guess what it was I asked an associate behind the counter. She stated it was corn pie. "My oh my"..."corn pie you say." Before I could utter another word she was providing me a sample tasting. A sniff and one bite and I was sold! I will take two to go. We also got both types of flan. I have not dug any further yet but a quick search yielded that "corn pie" has ties to Trinidad. CORN PIE: -- clear pleasing sniff of sweet corn -- has a very slight graininess to the texture but is very creamy overall -- top crust is similar looking to cornbread -- this pie is dense (heavy in the hand) -- moist -- creamy -- remarkable sweet corn taste in the mouth -- delicious with coffee -- medium-sweet -- I told my friends and family that it is "life altering" as cornbread will never be viewed the same again by me after having this corn delicasy. Only a bread-style corn pudding might compare to the next level that corn pie has achieved in my world. -- in a nutshell, the best I can describe it is CORNBREAD meets FLAN meets RICOTTA CHEESECAKE (but it is more cornbread and eggy flan with just a very, very slight textural quality that reminds me a tad of ricotta cheesecake) FLAN 1: -- more of a gelatin/pudding/softer style -- very aesthetically pleasing to the eye with varying shades of gold, orange, caramel brown -- I only pilfered a small bite from the wife's cup of flan (without caramel sauce) and it was lightly sweet without the sauce, but is surely medium sweet with it -- smooth texture -- very tasty FLAN 2: -- eggy style flan medium-firm texture/consistency -- medium-sweet (to be expected with caramel desserts and drinks) -- more of a grainy texture -- lighter drippings of caramel sauce are on top -- nice caramel flavor -- this is the style of flan I prefer and love -- extremely tasty rendition and a bold java went splendidly with it at home -- the dark chocolate leaf candy on top was lightly sweet COFFEE FRAPPUCCINO STYLE BEVERAGE: -- frozen bolder coffee flavor -- next time I would veto the chocolate sauce and whipped cream to reduce the sweet and let the bolder coffee prevail -- very yum CARAMEL FRAPPUCCINO STYLE BEVERAGE: -- frozen beverage -- the coffee flavor gets drowned out a bit here via caramel sauce and whipped cream -- I actually preferred the "coffee frap" over this one as it was too sweet for me which sometimes happens with caramel coffee beverages and my palate. Decided to stop in at Jazmin's for some goodies on New Year's Eve. It was a short wait outside as only 5 people are allowed inside at one time. This place is amazing! I've had their tamales before (makes my mouth water) and ordered a cheese tamale, along with some other wonderful treats, BUT the absolute thrill was finding their fruit tart! I was debating buying a few of the small ones, then saw the big fruit tart! Oh my goodness! I can't rave enough about the fruit, the custard filling and the cake base. The good: They offer tamales and a variety of desserts like flan, mousse cake, cheesecake, smoothies, concha bread/cookie, cookies, eclair etc. I tried a custard filled eclair, chocolate cake with raspberry mousse, horchata smoothie, guava drink in a glass bottle and tres leches cake with strawberries inside. The horchata smoothie was a very large size. They sell jello, milk, fresh orange juice and more. The bottled guava juice tasted great and reminded me of a less sweetened version of Kern's guava juice. You can custom order cakes here. Service was prompt and efficient. The bad: The tres leches cake was sweeter than most tres leches cakes I've had. I thought the strawberries were pretty but they took away from the flavor of the cake itself. The chocolate cake was my least favorite because the berry gelee on top tasted artificial and off. They didn't have regular horchata but only had a blended smoothie version. This place is great! They have a great selection of food and dessert/pastry items! The line can get pretty insane, but the staff does a good job of moving it along.
